What activities did you do....?

What are the must sees and what do you recommend to avoid?

We are thinking of going there for a week between our 2 weeks at Disney. I just want the skinny on what there is to do.

Thanks for any advice. :dog2:

Well, it wasn't to my taste. I was there for business for about 2 weeks, stayed downtown for a week and it was very much the college spring break scene. There is one road with good restaurants and high end shopping (and lots of cruising!)

There are some nice beach areas, some are pretty quiet. Also the Sawgrass Mills outlet mall, which is apparently the largest (I proved myself as a non-shopper by being bored after 30 minutes!!)

Were you looking for a particular type of activity? I most enjoyed a remote beach area, and storm watching.....

I should also add that I was fascinated with the ocean - I live on 'another' ocean, and while I have seen the Atlantic many times, it was somehow more attractive here.... Watching the ships in the shipping lane fascinated me.

We went to Fort Lauderdale 2 yrs ago in November and loved it!! We had a great time. We stayed at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort. Lovely hotel located right on the ocean. We had a private beach which was nice. Got to watch the cruise ships come and go right outside our balcony. We had a oceanview room. We did some shopping. Went to Sawgrass Mills mall. Very large mall. Also ate at some good restaurants. Loved Hops and Cheesecake Factory. We did a scenic tour. Forgot the name of the tour??? (sorry). Anyways, it was tour on the ocean viewing some of the famous people homes right on the water. All in all we had a great time and would definitely go back. Oh and check out Las Olas blvd. That's where all the shops and clubs are.

Oh not sure when your going, but I know each year in October around the end of October, Ft.Lauderdale has a boat show. Suppose to be the worlds largest. I heard it's extremely crowded at that time. Just wanted to forewarn ya.

Have a great time!!!

We went there about 4 years ago and took a tour called the "Jungle Queen" through the intracoastal waterways. It was great ~ saw lots of celebrities homes and "dreamed"

Highly recommended.

Also we drove up Hwy A1A for a scenic drive and it was lovely.

I also stayed at the Marriot Beach Harbour Resort and really enjoyed it there. I spent most of the time on the beach or at the pool, and we actually drove to South Beach a lot. Sawgrass Mills is a must do if you like to shop!
