Who here enjoys a good steak cooked at home?

I love a good steak from anywhere, home, restaurant, someone else's house -- just gimme steak!!

UUUUMMMMM!!!;) All this talk of steak is making me crave one!

I like steak at a resturant, but that can be expensive.

I made a really good steak at home the other day. It was a ribeye (it was on special). I talked a bit with the butcher on how to prepare it, he was real nice. He went and gave my some fresh cuts, and said if it was not the most tender meat I've had, come back and he'd give me more on the house. Anyhow, I browned it in a skillet (salt & pepper to taste) then broiled it in the oven (about 5 minutes on each side). Here's the best part, when I turned it over I added good high end blue cheese and red onion. Yum! Even the kidos who HATE blue cheese ate it (and asked for more!)

Dang, I'm making myself hungry...:jumping4:MUST HAVE STEAK!!!

We had NY strip steaks grilled (medium) over charcoal and mesquite for dinner last night. It may have been the best steak that I've ever eaten. Even better than Le Cellier. I have found that the steaks that they sell at Sam's Club are of very high quality. This is the third week in a row that we've had NY strips from there, and I think we've finally figured out how to cook them.

I prefer someone else to cook my steaks for me.:teeth: When I cook my own, I prefer my George Foreman Grill over my gas grill though. I could go for a good t-bone or porterhouse right now.:teeth:

Has anyone here ever brushed a little butter on the steak just before serving?
This is what is done in most steakhouses just before the steak is served. Makes a huge difference in taste!!!!

We have steak - in some form - a couple of times a week (2-3). Hubby is the meat manager at a local grocery store - he can get the good stuff! Our DD (6) loves steak!

He is the cook in the family - and he knows how to cook a steak. Sometimes he uses italian dressing as a marinade, but most of the time, it's only NATURE's SEASONs - if you haven't ever tried it - pick up a bottle next trip to the store! We use it for absolutely Everything! Steak, chicken, pork, all sauces, french fries, etc. etc. We always have a couple of bottle so we never run out! It's a mix of lots of different seasonings in the same bottle and it's wonderful!

Okay - how about - How do you like your steak cooked???

We like ours medium rare!! MMMMM

My Mom brushes a sauce that is melted butter with fresh chopped garlic in it over their steaks and it is wonderful!

We keep it simple when we cook our steaks. We rub the steaks with Lawry's Seasoned Salt and cook them medium to medium-well. I was raised in a family where my mom made sure that all meat was cooked well-done and it has taken me many years to unlearn that. I still have a hard time eating any meat that is cooked less than medium although I will admit that the steaks that I have eaten that are on the rare side of medium are the most tender and tasty that I have ever had.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned putting bleu cheese on their steaks. That's yummy too.

We eat steak a coupleof times a week; tips sometimes, marinated in some hickory BBQ sauce; but my favorite is a couple of rib eyes

But here's the trick; just beofre you put them on the grill (or however you cook them), dredge them in some sugar (I use Splenda, for the low carbs), then throw them on a fairly high heat for a while, then turn over and reduce heat. The sugar (or Splenda) will carmelize onto the meat, making the most tender, sweetest flavor you'll ever have. I learned that from a butcher in a hotel I used to work at; they have one of the fanciest restraunts in Boston, and he knew what he was doing.

We bbq most of our steaks - and I gotta admit, it's hit-&-miss as far as tenderness. I like steak out at a restaurant!

C.Ann - as long as you're taking in fruits and high-fiber breads as your carbs at other meals, I think you'd be OK - I can see where you wouldn't want to lose any weight!

Total steak lovers here! We've just recently started ordering steaks from Omaha Steaks. We get the triple trimmed filet mignons and top them w/ their seasoned butter sauce. YUM!

I've got some in the freezer...think I know what we're doing for dinner tonight! :teeth:

We love having fresh grilled steak at home.. and like you, a tossed salad makes is all the more enjoyable!

I'm not much into steak, but DH sure is. He likes a nice Porterhouse cooked rare - on his own grill. And HE has to cook it - because nobody else ever does it right.
