First off: NO FLAMES PLEASE. I understand this is a touchy subject. I don't want to open that can of worms, just needing some info from those have done this. :flower:

So... has anyone recently gotten back from having two reservations at two different WDW resorts? Remember when people were discussing it as part of getting the "free dining" plan. Some said you could, some said you couldn't, etc. I am just wondering if anyone HAS done it yet and how it went. Especially interested in the getting your luggage from one resort to another and checking in and out process.

Feel free to PM if you want to avoid this touchy subject at all costs!

Thanks!

Why would this be a touchy subject? Many people do this! We've never split our stay between WDW resorts since we usually split our stay between WDW and Universal; but plenty of people stay at 2 different resorts. Disney will handle the transfer of luggage. Changing resorts should not be a problem at all. I must really be out of loop because I can't imagine why this would be a touchy subject. :confused3

you can do it. until the system catches up with it and spits it out. It will not save both ressies and you could end up losing both.

It sounds like she's talking about making 2 different resort reservations at the same time to get double the free dining plans, but I could be wrong.

Not "double" the dining and it really doesn't have much to do with "free" dining either... people staying at DVC resorts don't have the option to buy the meal plan. Lots of people find it's worth it to pay the $77+ per night to have a meal plan - that's what it boils down to anyway. I know lots of people said they had planned on doing this, but not sure if they're staying under the radar tonight or just haven't done it yet. No biggie, just wondering how it went that's all. The common belief was: if we want to spend the money on two hotel rooms - why shouldn't they let us?! I had people (on these boards) say: Disney can't NOT let you and I had people say: sorry, they WON'T let you so it's pretty unchartered territory I think.

Wow, if they offer free dining with the resort room, and someone's willing to pay for a room just to get free food (which seems to defeat the purpose, IMHO), why would anyone object? It does seem kind of silly, just to save a couple of bucks. The way I see it, if you can afford the outlay of buying into DVC, why on earth would you go through the trouble of booking into, and checking into, another resort?

It is a loop hole that for once, Disney didn't think about. When there is no "free" dining plan a familiy of four seem to be willing to shell out $90 a day for the meals (2 adults and 2 kids) so why shouldn't it be OK for a DVC person to shell out $77 a day for the meals especially since they don't even offer it for DVC. The reason for the flames is you are taking a room away from someone who might want the ressie. If this is possible to do, I would blame Disney for not closing this loop by either not allowing the two ressies or offering the dining plan to DVC.

Personally, I would save my points and just stay at Pop this trip and eat for free. Go again another time on points...

That's exactly what we're doing for Extravagant Birthday Trip II. Thanks to the generosity of LisaS and Stan we are also going to stay one night at OKW.

I have two different reservations at the same resort, with some of the days over lapping. Both are in my name, but my sister and niece are actually staying in one room. I am listed as staying in both rooms. When I call cr to ask for adjoining rooms the cm fussed at me and said I should not have done it. He said they could cancel both if it is noticed.

So, he wanted to "fix it". I told him that part of the time I would be staying in the room because my husband is going home. He said put me on hold, and came back and said that it was so "convoluted" that he would leave it as it is.

Hopefully, when I get there I will still have both reservations.

I am interested to know what happened also.

Actually - I'm not a member. I rented the points from a member through these boards early on and can't (don't feel right about it anyway) get out of the contract. So making the best of it. I had planned all along on staying at one resort for 3 nights and then DVC for the rest... now we're just "not checking out" of the first when we go to DVC.

We WILL be using the original room for naps, etc when it's closest to us during the day at times. Just not at night and not every day after the first 3 days. Not silly to us at all... to each their own opinion though - my skins pretty thick! :)

Moopdog - if you aren't the only adult in the party, why don't you have the reservations under different names (Moopdog and Moopdoggie)? Wouldn't that be less confusing and you can be assured WDW wouldn't cancel the reservation.

Actually - that's exactly what we did... one in my name, one it DH's. I am still a little nervous about the process, and was wondering about anyone who had just done it. I guess we'll find out soon - I leave in 13 days!

Take Care to all of you!!!

I actually think it's a good idea if it works out for you cost-wise. Let us know how it went when you get back, okay? I'm interested. I don't think there would ever be a situation where I would want/need to do that, but it never hurts to have the information just in case. ;)

When I posted a reply to another thread today I thought about you.
Please let me know if everything works out.

I am planning a trip Oct 28 - Nov 3, for my family of 6. I would like to once again stay at the GF (this is the only on site resort we have stayed in and I am afraid I am addicted). Last time my youngest was only 3 so we could fit in 1 room - now she is 5 so we will need 2 rooms. My 4 girls (10,8,7,5) are each very petite and would sleep 3 in a bed and 1 on the daybed easily. The only 1 bathroom is not a problem as this is what we are used to at home.

Now for my question...

Can I book 1 room at the GF and another at a less expensive report, just for a paper trail?

WElcome to the Dis!!!
this is a great forum to ask qustions about Disney.
I found so many here who are very helpful and friendly.

Sorry but I would say no becauce you do not want to take the chance of getting caught.

They can see who accesses your room through the Ving system, so they can tell exactly who has entered the room and how often the room is in use. Also mousekeeping may alert them that room is empty thinking something happened to you.

This was posted by DMRick by on another thread:
They can tell each time the lock in your door was used. When our room was robbed last February, they were able to tell which workers used their pass to get in, and when we went in and out..or so they told us when they reimbursed us our losses.

I would reccomed two rooms at the GF or two rooms or a suite or even a cabin at FW to be safe. Then you can have lots of fun without worring about getting caught and the consequences that might result from that.
Have fun at Disney!

Today I inadvertantly learned I had 2 reservations for the same dates/different hotels! Last October I booked a room at Shades of Green. After MYW came out in January, I decided we'd rather do the whole WDW shebang, but I wanted a rate close to what we would have paid at SoG, so I booked a room-only AAA at POFQ and cancelled SoG. I forgot all about it. Then, I went through AAA TA to get a package for the WL and dining, which I paid for in July.

Today, I open my mail and see a nice ME envelope! WOO HOO! Then I discover it's luggage tags for the POFQ ressie.

Woops!
