We are trying to understand if most people can easily book at the smaller resorts at the 7-month window during the NON-holiday weeks... or if it's very difficult. Hopefully this will shed some light for everyone on this process and the necessary timelines.

Therefore, if you have NOT been able to reserve at any of these three at the 7 month window (and didn't get on after joining the waitlist), please write down which resort it was and WHEN you wanted to stay.

Thanks for your input!!! :hippie:

3 times I have been able to book at other resorts. I used wait list once for a standard view BWV studio April 2005, I got a studio at VWL Jan. 2006 (had my pick of BCV, BWV )and got 3 of 4 nights in a 2 brm preferred view BWV over Veteran's day weekend Nov.2005. We own at SSR. Have stayed there 2X.

Tried to book a studio at BWV/VWL/BCV/OKW for a week during Oct in March w/o luck. Wait-listed for BWV & VWL.

VWL second week in Dec, 02 - before I brought there. Did it right on the 7 th month? by the 3rd month I got scared (I was stupid and brought tickets for MVMCP) - and nothing was available at any of the DVC resorts - so I went with the Polyn.

I have BWV for those difficult to get times too...

would love to have BCV - but maybe one day....

jenntish,

You seem to be taking this very seriously. My caution would be, as they say in the mutual fund prospectus "past performance is no guarentee of future returns." As DVC adds members and existing members learn how to use the system, things may change - and regarding the smaller resorts, probably not for the better. On the other hand, people that know how to work they system and can plan ahead and are willing to waitlist may never have a problem. Several years ago, you didn't need to call day by day for a standard view studio at BW during F&W at 11 months. Enough people got caught out that its gets more like CRT reservations each year.

We got five weeknights at BCV this May, and made ressies the first of March. A quirk, perhaps, but a pleasant one.

They also had villas available at OKW, SSR, and VWL the same nights. BWV was full.

So, there y'are. Should you count on those kind of breaks? Dunno.

I think it is because each and every year the f&W gets more popular....

I couldn't believe how many people were there last year on the one day we tried it....

It was almost as many people as a couple of years ago on July 4 watching the fireworks....

We tried to get a 2BR for Mother's Day weekend 2005 about 1 1/2 months out at BCV and it was full. We were able to reserve a 2BR OKW at the time, and I got on the waitlist for BCV. The waitlist did not come through for me, and during the week leading up to our trip I called several times a day every day and finally gave up that Thursday.

I don't know what week you are looking for, but I just cancelled a studio at BWV for 10/22-10/26 to upgrade to a 1 BR. Hope you get it! :wizard:

I was able to change to a 1 BR at both BCV and VWL at 8 months out - no problem and this is during F&W.

So far, we have always been able to book at 7 months. This includes:

1BR BWV 9/2003
1BR BWV 2/2004
2BR BCV 6/2005
Studio VWL 9/2005
2BR BCV 6/2006

Now we will try for VWL for December next month. Won't be surprised if we can't get that, but so far, so good.

I don't know what everyone else thinks. However, with the rise in prices of gasoline, fuel oil, and natural gas, some people do not have the "disposable" funds to spend on elaborate vacations. Though DVC provides a means to better afford vacations, it will be interesting to see the impact of the prices on park and resort attendance. You still have to pay to get to Disney, as well as for park passes, food and other entertainment.

I didn't have any problem booking within 3 months for BCV, but that was for January

At 9 mos. out I was unable to book 5 nights at BWV for 3 Dec 2006 in any room category. The MS person was surprised that all DVC rooms were booked for that period. I was able to make reservations for the following week though.

2005-7 months out tried to switch the first week of Dec. from VWL to BCV studio - no luck
I've been waitlisting for BCV 2 bedroom since the 8 month mark for that same first week this year - nothing yet..... (my homes VWL and BCV)

Last October we were able to get 2-bedroom at seven month at BCV with no problem and this year we are staying at VWL 2-bedroom in early Nov. without a problem. Maybe it is because of the 2-bedrooms or that we have just been lucky.

start your own thead with this post...

but - I don't think it will stop people from coming to WDW.

that say when it start to effect everything else - from the clothes you wear to the food you eat - it will have an effect.

I am still surprised at the number of SUV out there.... in the 70's the first think that went was the high fuel cost cars/vans...

My general sense from reading this thread is that DVC members are generally still finding it possible to book a 7 months at most of the WDW DVC properties - IF they are (a) going during off or "edge" seasons and (b) aren't too fussy about the type of villa and requests.

Notably, no one is stating they are readily getting WDW space at 7 months during holiday periods or summer high seasons (mid June through early August). I'd add to that VB during winter and spring vacation periods and HH during the summer high season. Which suggests the increase in membership is having an impact - increasingly, if you want to vacation during those 'most popular' periods, you're limited to your home resort. :scared:

I had a reservation at BCV for New Year's Eve. Then we had to take an unexpected trip this August to move my sister in for the WDW college program. So I had to cancel the BCV reservation to make a reservation at OKW for this summer. We had no points available to borrow for that reservation so I had no choice but to cancel. Then I am going to try to re-book it at the 7 month window...I don't have high hopes though.

It could go either way. Additional DVC members mean additional competition for rooms - so that would make it harder. But if DVC members start letting their points go to waste because of fuel prices, that might make it easier. I think more people would rent their points, but if the economy gets really bad, we may look upon $10 a point as "the good ol' days when points were worth big bucks." Alternatively, DVCers could shift their travel plans....transportation being a big deal, they may go less often for longer. So if people waste points, you'll be right. If they find another way to use them, more members will mean more competition at seven months.
