I was wanting to know who has a scrooge for a spouse about disney. For ex. "We can go someplace else than Disneyworld". My response would be, "Disneyland"? My wife luckily is a fan.

My DH had never been to WDW until we went, he was 31 years old. We will be back for our third trip together in Jan. but he only goes for myself and the kids and is a good sport!

My DH doesn't really like going to WDW. The only reason he goes is because I make all the plans and do all the work and all he has to do is show up!

We have talked about going other places, but since its about as cheap to go tho WDW as any place once you start adding the cost of airfare, car rental and lodging, he really doesn't mind too much!

my dh is nit excited at all about going...too far (we're in nj-plane ride only 2 hours) doesnt like walking...long lines...etc etc etche went the first time on our honeymoon w/no interest to ever go back. this will be our first trip w/our 3 year old twins so i hope he changes his mind once we get there and has a good time. oh well :guilty:

DW tolerates but not really a fan.

DD & I out vote her though so she comes along. We do now let her sleep in or cut out early without a hassle from us . Sometimes she will just go to the pool and lay out for the day.

Disney. Bah. I've been three times since 98 (my first trip) and I'm stuck going again this year. The only reason I go is because the wife and kids like it. Once in a lifetime would have been plenty.

I'm married to Grumpy. He has said for years, "it's too expensive." Finally, I took the bull by the horns (actually, it was DS, then 10) and told him we're going to DW for Thanksgiving this year. DS convinced DH that it'll be a lot of fun. I do have to say that DH is looking forward to seeing the expressions on the boys' faces when we get there.

That so funny!! My husband says that every time we go , and we go once or twice a year! I always ask him where would you like to go? Aruba? the Bahamas? No way with a 2 and 5 year old! You can't sit back on the beach and shut your eyes and relax like he dreams- but he would and I would be chasing my kids all over the beach - I don't think so! Disney is perfect, we all have fun (he really does once we get there ;) ) I do wish he got excited when we planned it though. I just tell him when and how much it will cost- kind of like our wedding :)

About 8 months ago, DH and I were talking about places to vacation (DD's are 4 and 15 mos). He says "We should go to Disney every other year". I was floored! So, I start planning for next summer, start to ask him questions about where to stay, etc. He comes out with, "You're talking about it too much. By the time it gets here, it won't be exciting." Since then, I've learned that if I casually mention something or ask a question, he's there to give input. I limit "silly" questions, and come here to get the info I need. I see his point, but he knew when he married me that I really get into planning and am an excitable person :teeth:

Thank goodness for this place. I've had so many questions answered here...questions I didn't even know I had!!!!!!

So er - why are you posting on a Disney related forum then?

My DH was convinced he'd hate Disney - as was his FIL, who said, and I quote - "You'll never get me to Disney, it's not my sort of thing". Guess who's the biggest Disney convert on the planet? He absolutely loved it, can't wait to get back there!!

well, I think my DH gets the grumpy award, he has never been, and will never go. I have tried to entice him every way I can, showed all the videos, pics etc, to no avail. So I take the kids 6, almost 2, by myself and we have the most fun and I have precious memories with my children that he doesn't.
I won't let him keep me from going :sunny:

My kids & I had vacationed in Disney with my mother on each of our previous trips. DH never seemed that interested. Then, this past May, DH came instead & we spent 9 days at CBR. He got hooked!!!

Last night, he handed me a piece of paper that said "Happy Early B-day"...I opened it up & inside was paperwork showing that we are in the DVC!!! I couldn't believe it!!! Saratoga Springs here we come!!

My soon to be ex-DH ruined my happy place twice and then I decided never to bring him again. More than 4 hours in a park, and he gets irritated and grumpy and ruins my experience. I always feel like nothing bad could ever happen at WDW.

I guess that was a sign!!

Dh is tolerant of my Disney obsession but he's not really what I'd call a fan. We've actually gone every year since we met (he even proposed there) but I think if he was on his own he'd choose somewhere else to vacation.

The thing he likes most about Disney is the turkey legs LOL! He can take or leave everything else and would prefer to spend time back at the resort relaxing than go to the parks

But he puts up with me so I don't think he's a *real* scrooge :lovestruc

My wife cannot stand WDW. We went in August, 1995 and it was hot and crowded. Our last trip was May 2005 and the wife refused to go. See Trip Reports http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=826132
I took our two oldest kids (daughtrers) and we stayed at the POP century and had the best trip ever. She can stay home any time!

Well I do and I don't. As you can see from my sig. we have been a lot, especially in the last year. Basically DD and I LOVE WDW and dh loves us. So he is good about it. He probably wouldn't pick to go there on his own but he does like good service and he is a big resort snob. He never can fault WDW for how they run things and we always have a great time. When we go othwer places he will comment on how it isn't as clean or well run. So he is agreeable but I just can see the look on his face and know he is thinking about all the money pouring out of his......, well you get the point. :rotfl:

Luckily my DH and I love Disney equally! BUT...this summer I realized there are kids out there that don't like Disney...can you imagine. My friends kids came to visit us down in FL this summer. We are a 3 hr drive from Mickey...so I mentioned to my DH...let's take the kids when they come to visit. We thought it was a great idea. WRONG! I called them (16 & 13 year old) to share the great news. They were both completely silent. Then they both said...we're not interested...thanks but no thanks! So...they came down for 4 days and spent the time on the couch and on the internet.

So I guess this is my biggest fear...that my DD (1) doesn't like Disney. To all of you who have a family member that doesn't like Disney...I now know the feeling...well, almost! And, I feel for you! :confused3

I'm sorry to say this;but, that is what is wrong with todays kids. We have some friend who's kids are the same way and overweight. I hate to say that but it is true. And do not worry about your child, we two children DS(2) and DD(5) both have grown up going to disney and love it. Each ones first trip was at 6 months. DS has been 3 times and DD has been 5.
