Agreed. I'll hold back for those that are getting up and walking to the bus. But if the bus is stopped and THEN those on the benches are getting up, folding strollers, gathering everyone, etc, I'll board. Basically if I think I (and family) can get on the bus and not cause those there before me to wait, I'll get on. But I'm not going to quickly step to the curb so I can get on the bus.

There truly is NO line at most resorts. It is a clump..and that clump can get rather pushy if there are more than 10 other guests waiting to board the bus. Amazes me....there is plenty of room on the bus, but no..someone is always going to 'have' to be first on. Just gotta get that super-de-dooper seat before anyone else.

We usually do go in slower times.

I'm always amused when we show up at our resort stop, and by the time our bus comes, there's a dozen or so people. All, obviously, showing up at different times, some sitting, some standing, some hopping up and down....

Then the bus shows up and there's always that ONE FAMILY that has to act like it's the last bus leaving Vietnam before the Viet Cong shows up and if they aren't the first ones on, they'll be doomed to a life of poverty under communism.

The bus usually showed up empty, or almost empty, we all eventually get on, and takes us to a park, still with lots of room.

I think anyone who ever stands in a line in the 'real world' knows how lines work if you're not standing by the loading line when the bus pulls up,you have to get in line.....it happens all the time, and I've seen some folks get mad at others for simply standing,waiting,and then boarding,while they were sitting and watching it happen...... but it seems out of place to get mad over that, a line is a line,and a bench is for sitting and waiting......I've also seen people get REALLY mad when they're standing in a super long cs line,and we head over to the left side of the register with no line.... I call it a quick learning experience for them(they learn fast to move)....kind of like how to get in line and board a bus

As someone who as been to WDW more than a dozen times, I can assure you the bus stops are no where near as bad as this thread is making them sound. Honestly, I can't remember a time where this was an issue at all. And I have stayed at all levels of resort, from the All Stars to the Poly.

agreed....we've done both.....rental cars are usually faster, but the buses are NOT the nightmare they sound like here if you read enough here you'd never eat at Disney,or even try to go on a ride or watch a parade!

Being someone who always rents a car-- I find this whole topic fascinating.

I've never waited in line for the busses, so if I walked up to the bus stop and there were people sitting on the benches but they made no move to get ahead of me when they saw me coming, I'd assume they were there for the bus, but possibly not interested in being first ????

If they didn't move until the bus showed up, I'd ask them if they'd like to go ahead of me, since they were there before me, but it sounds like the whole bus etiquette thing is scary and just reading about it stresses me out, so it makes me glad I rent a car.

I was thinking the same hing! I book early enough, so usually get my car for a week for $120, inclusive of taxes. So worth it!!

I don't consider this a bus issue. It's a rudeness or impoliteness issue. You've all read the threads about waiting in line for the rides, same type of thing.

If you're going to rent a car, great, but don't do it because of this issue. IMO, this is making a mountain out of a mole hill. I'm sure it happens once in a while, but so do a lot of other weird things. Keep it in perspective.

Unless it's going to be a standing room only bus, it makes no sense that someone would remain sitting while dozens of people are gathering at the blue lines.

A little observation and common sense goes a long way with things like CS at Disney. They alternate from side to side.. simple...... if people would stop and watch what is happening, they will get through the line quicker.....

You see the same thing at security lines at the airport.... my airport, MSP, has 5-6 in the main terminal. If you walk a little further to either end, you will be in a line a third the size of the ones in the middle.... should I be penalized for paying attention?

That said... the one that does annoy me is when you are at a convenience store waiting to pay. They are running two registers and a line has formed where everyone is waiting. When a register opens up the next person in line goes up..... then someone walks into the door and walk straight up and stands behind the person at the front register.......

You ever see that at Disney? A line has formed for a bus and the bus pulls up about 10 feet past the line...... a family just walking up goes right to the door of the bus and waits..... do they not see the line of 20 people who are standing and waiting? Happens at DTD more than anywhere else....

I love the drivers of buses, boats or trams that play Disney trivia with the passengers.

The buses are really not this bad. I've was at Disney last time with a rental car and took the buses. It's never really a vacation if I have to drive.
There is rude behavior everywhere. It's a shame common sense is not so common.

And because Disney doesn't think drivers can walk and chew gum at the same time, using the PA system while the bus is in motion is not permitted. Actually I agree, too many can't.

Same here. I do not consider us in line until we are in line. Now if someone on the bench heads to the front (even if we get there a second before them) when they see us getting in line, I can deal with that, but if they wait for the bus to arrive or the line to get long, then I think they get at the back of the line.

Oh man...that would be me. Standing there, waiting like a loon, just to be sure no one is going to be ticked off when I go to the left. But really...how long am I going to stand there, being an idiot??? So, I finally just shrug and move into the line on the left. Man, I've gotten some nasty comments. My favorite?? 'Oh, what makes you so special you don't think you need to wait in line like the rest of us poor smucks???' Thank God the CM looked at the guy and said...'Sir, the lines on both sides are open for use.' Poor man had the dignity to at least look chagrined.

And I hate that the drivers don't get to interact with us nearly as much anymore. I know, I know..I've seen the posts here about the drivers who almost killed guests because they insisted on cracking jokes instead of safely driving the bus. But honestly? It's the drivers that are so focused on driving that worry me. They seem to be oblivious to everything around them. Their skills are not all that great. Reminds me of teenagers learing to drive..they can't drive safely and talk at the same time. Versus older, experienced drivers who can talk, chew gum, crack jokes and drive safely.

Which bus model(s) are scheduled for retirement? Are you talking about the older RTS buses or the Nova Bus design with the seat right behind the driver (though separated by a panel) and ahead of the wheels?

Nah....not older than dirt. Just lucky. My two older kids were pre-Barney. But, my 17 y/o??? Yeah, not so much. Had to suffer through the big purple guy for years. Barney was famous for saying...'Hey, that's super-de-dooper kids!!!'

This is what we do. I agree sitting on the bench isn't in line. The old cattle call boarding with Southwest Airline was similar to the WDW bus situation. People sitting away from the boarding gate area, would sometimes get all nasty if you walked up to the gate area and stand. I have seen some unruly situations where the people sitting would insist they were in line ahead of you even though they were sitting far away from the loading area. I was flying out of Vegas a few years ago on SWA and saw baggage on the floor where the line is suppose to form. People were using their baggage to hold a spot in line, while sitting several feet away. I don't know why security didn't take the baggage that was unattended. I stopped using SWA because of this nonsense, but since they bought AirTran, I guess I will now use SWA. I know they have a somewhat better boarding procedure now.
