DH just suprised me with several days in Orlando before/after our Spring Break cruise. Thankfully, he got a good deal, 'cause I can't find a good one on airfare! :guilty:

Does anyone know who flies from Washington-Dulles (IAD) to MCO? I've tried Delta, United, Independence Air, Ted, Air Tran....am I missing anyone? (along with travelocity, hotwire, and priceline)

Does anyone have any idea of any sales that might be happening soon or should I just book the best I can find?

TIA!

Have you considered using BWI. SW flies from there.

The big problem with Hotwire/Priceline is you have no control over the flight time or connections. Could be an issue with the cruise.

What are your spring break dates?

We have tried several, you got all the airlines! We thought about flying from BWI, but what a waste of time. We are flying down on Trans Meridian (into orlando-sanford, only about 25 min from Disney) and flying home on Ind. Air. out of MCO. We got both flights for a total of $350 for the first week in April. Good luck!!

The cruise is March 19-26. DH thought we could stay on-site on Thursday, the 17th and Sat.-Monday (26-28) also.

I considered BWI, but not sure it's worth it. I will double check the prices though.

We fly from IAD to MCO at least once a year. The good sales for spring break were several months ago. TED is often cheap for the 6 am or 7 am flight! We took that one in August

Sometime US Air from DCA was cheaper but booking them right now could be risky.

I personally hate SW out of BWI but that may be an option (but being spring break most of their good fare are gone too.) Have you tried TPA (tampa) it take a little over a hour to drive.

Goood luck - sending you some pixie dust

Finally gave in and settled on $79 each way from IAD on Independence Air. I'm kicking myself for not booking the "sale" I saw for the down trip being only $49! I had just found out abut DH's surprise cruise and was scared to book anything yet. Now I know better!

Thanks everyone for the advise. Guess I should be happy...if DH had booked what he saw it would have cost us about $350 MORE! Thankfully, he decided to wait and see what I could do.

we always try to ly out of iad since it is the closest airport to where we live. i found a really low rate on TED from iad-mco in may: it was $116 and change rt. :cool1:

We usually fly out of DCA since we live in downtown DC and we got a rate of $49/one way from MCO to DCA in April. We're flying to Myrtle Beach, SC from DCA first, then driving to Savannah, then onto Disney so I don't know what the flight would cost from DCA to MCO. We've usually gone with USAirways in the past, but had AirTran money left which is why we went with them. In December we flew form DCA to MCO on USAirways for $97/rt and last May for $174/rt. Both were nonstop flights. We've also done SW from BWI, but we HATE that drive so we try to avoid it whenever possible.

We are flying out of IAD next week to MCO on Independence Air for $49 each way. Watch out though. We were supposed to return Sunday night and they changed our flight to 7:45 Sunday morning-NOT. We called and complained. They gave us a next day flight with a hotel for Sunday night. Amazing how they can change flights without penalty and when we do it we get charged up the you know what!!

$79 on FlyI is still a good fare. There has been lots of sales lately. We fly IAD to MCO about 5 times a year and did fly exclusively Delta until they stop flying non-stop. Now have been flying TED. On our last 4 trips on TED/UAL they continuously overbook. But I got that beat. Last week when I got to my seats there was someone in them and we all had the EXACT seat numbers on our tickets. Overbooking is one thing, selling the seats more than once is a whole new experience for us. I did book FLYI for our May trip. Yes just couldn't pass up the $49 sale, so will be trying them on April 29 ($116 rt). Just got home last night from WDW and see that our September fare is now reduced too, so will be scrambling to try to buy tickets then on TED for that trip. ($116 if we go Thur to Thurs, but if we come home on Friday as planned it will be $146, still now bad).
