Who fixes your computer when something bad happens?

I don't necessarily mean who helps when you have a small problem (often times you can find an answer to a small problem right here on the DIS, thanks to some great Dissers), but rather when you have a big old problem that goes beyond a simple solution.
Do you have a good friend or family member who can handle most problems? Do you call a professional to come to your house? Do you take it to a computer repair shop?
Thankfully I have a guy who comes to my house. He is quite the computer guru, and he only charges a very small fee, no matter how bad or messed up my computer might be.
In fact, he is supposed to come back today to finish fixing up my good computer system. Apparently I had a bad power supply which was causing a whole bunch of problems.

Software - Me. Hardware - Dell. Works out pretty well so far.

If it starts or is not a hardware problem DW and I will fix it. Not sure if I could have diagnosed a intermitent power problem though.

I did have a compact dell computer. I upgraded to a dual monitor video card and the one they sent woudl touch the power supply when installed. I fugured it is under warranty so I left it. Then the fan failed on the power supply and it overheated, and overheated the video card which burned up completely. But by that time it was out of warranty. So I bought a new card and dell wanted a ton of money for a new power supply fan. I found one at the local repair shop for less than $20. The old one was hardwired so I had to splice the wires. But it is all running fine now!!

DH can handle most any problem with the computers. He's the one our families call for help.

DH is my computer guy. He does network/telephony stuff for the whole state so he's pretty good with our three laptops. I even have him help me with my work laptop if I need it. He's much more attentive to my needs than our IT department.

I have a brilliant son who sorts our computers out for us, both hardware and software. He has remote access to the computers which helps at the moment as he is serving in Iraq.

Hubby's the IT manager at his place of employment, so he can fix pretty much everything that we have issues with. He also builds custom PCs and does consulting on the side.

Small things we can usually figure out ourselves.

I go to my dh who is a mechanical engineer and certified computer tech and/or my 15yo dd who has enrolled in advanced computer classes.

If they can't figure it out which has happened twice, then we go to the Geek Squad.

Thank God for my dear friend who helps me whenever I have problems. She LOVES fiddling with computers and she does all of her law firms computer stuff. I don't know what I'd do without her!

DH! He's my computer guru. When he was in college for Computer Science, one of his assingments was to build his own computer, which he did. So anything that goes wrong with it, he will try to fix it or if he can't he'll call Best Buy to help (since that is where we bought our computer).

Fix all my own problems - software or hardware. Sometimes I have to call Dell or McAfee but for the most part I figure it out on my own.

I'm the CTO/IT/Network Admin & Security guy in my house. I also manage a network at my mom's house, and have been known to consult for my brother, my brother-in-law, father/mother-in-law, Aunt-in-law, friends and our sitter.
