Who finds Mothers' Day really annoying?

I happen to like Mother's Day!:)

As far as the ads and all that goes, I just ignore them!! I don't need expensive rings and necklaces, etc. and DH knows that. I would just like a card and maybe a gift, but even that isn't really important. We do usually go out for dinner and I don't see much more of a wait than going out on a Friday or Saturday night.

Last night DS got some "floam" stuff and made me a heart and easter egg and gave me a big hug. That was the best present a mom could ever get!!:goodvibes

I'm the one that said she hates children - because she DOES! so Please don't say you don't now. Have some balls and admit it! All you have to do is read the Child free by choice thread or even be a member here for more than 5 minutes and read some of GG's posts.

and she certainly gets her share of hostility about it. Not everyone is part of the child worshipping culture. I wouldn't say I hate them, because I don't hate anything except asparagus and brussel sprouts...but I can do without them quite nicely, thank you. I think most other people's kids are cute...mostly because they belong to those other people! :rotfl: When I go to Disney, I get a kick out of watching the kids, but that doesn't mean that I want any for myself. I enjoyed my DN when she was little, but we have MUCH more fun together now that she's an adult.

Wow, this thread really grew since this afternoon! Not what I expected.

Okay, #1, I never said "I hate children." You can do a search of my posts of the words "I hate children" and come up with NOTHING.

#2-If anything, it is certain people here (and beyond) who hate the childfree. Not vice versa.
and #3- If you are so unhappy with the CFC thread, then why on earth do you read it?:confused3

#1.) Show of hands, who thinks goofygirl hates children? I don't think I can count that high this early in the morning.

#2) Whatever. Personally, I can find plenty of reasons to dislike a person on an individual basis, not because of whether or not they have kids.

#3) Why do you post on every freaking parenting thread on the DIS? I read it once, but at least I had the courtesy NOT to post on a thread that I had no knowledge about.

And *sniff* I'm very disappointed that you didn't answer any of my burning questions.

Ummm, with all due respect, I think you are confusing who is hostile here. :rotfl: And perhaps that is because you are relatively new to the DIS. My join date also says I am new, but I'm not, and I can assure you there is only one person hostile about GG being child free, and that person is GG.

and that's great. Kids aren't for everyone but at least you don't go off all the time about how awful children are- at least I never read any posts by you. GG brings it up ALL the time and it gets old real fast.

btw - I used to hate brussel sprouts then I tasted them roasted - now I like them- and asparagus but don't get me started on lima beans - yuck

Yeah, I know you're not new. I know who you are. I'll have some fun predicting when you'll get banned again and how long it take for you to show up with a new name.

So where's the show of hands? I only see 2 people "showing their hands." And one of them is you!

I post on every freakin parent thread?? That's news to me! Funny... I see several parenting threads on the board but I don't see myself there.....interesting!

LOL. Pretty funny coming from the person who became President of Give Kids The World so she could kiss some WM hiney. :rotfl:

One thing that you can predict with 100% reliability you never fail to amuse me, GG. :rotfl:

I don't even recall a disclaimer. Anyone who has been around the DIS long enough knows GG is infamous for hating kids. Another thing she is famous for is playing the "child free" card - she is insistent anyone with children hates the "child free". What she doesn't get is most of us have people in our lives who chose for themselves not to have children but still have the ability to have an active role in our children's lives. That not everyone who does not have children of their own hates children.

I also find it amusing she is telling people to stay off the "child free" thread when she's been haunting the "breeder" thread for years just to tell us how superior she is to us because she's "cheerfully child free". :rotfl: I've always thought its been a case of she doth protest too much. :confused3

What "breeder" thread? What are you talking about?

Keep on hurling insults at me for no reason.

It's only a matter of time til you get banned again. Keep on diggin' that hole!

GG, for you to sit here and actually write that you don't respond to parenting threads with your usual bitter and defensive attitude is laughable. Just your threads on this subject, your nasty attitude and blah blah blah, is written testimony to the chip you wear on your shoulder. It is true I haven't seen you here in a long while, but when you are here, its usually you sniffeling over how much you hate kids and how everyone is mean to the "child free".

But you keep holding your breath waiting for ME to get banned. What I think is amazing is YOU are still here, spouting the same crap year after year. :rotfl:

back to the topic for a sec:

I love Mother's Day! No sob story, but I am very fortunate to have DD after problems and thinking for some time I may never have kids..so it is special. I don't even get to celebrate on the day, because I am always spending it backstage - DD's play is always that weekend. DH and DD make sure I have a special day the next weekend. We ignore the ads too. (edited to add; I have been known to hint I want an IPod of my own or Photoshop - but know better than to think DH picked up on it, let alone remembered!:rotfl: ) Breakfast in bed, a quiet day of no work, a few nice little things DD picks out, hanging out on the deck with a Mimosa or Mojito....and I am happy as can be. My mom is very understanding about not being available that day - at some point during the next week the 4 of us will go for a nice dinner!:)

It looks like this thread has turned ugly since its beginning - oh well - I'll answer the OP!

I like Mother's Day. I liked it before I had kids and I like it now that I have kids. My husband works Sunday's so my Mother's Day is usually spent with my girls and myself. This Mother's Day a friend has invited us to lunch - we may take her up on it. My big Mother's Day gift is making dinner for my family on Saturday. I love to cook and rarely get enough time in the kitchen to put together more than a basic meal. On Saturday evening I'll get a couple of good uninterrupted hours to so something spectacular. That's fun to me. I do enjoy getting jewelry, too!

Why would she be banned? She hasn't post anything offensive.

Okay - I can't actually see other people through my computer, so I wasn't really counting hands.

Geesh. I guess the child-free just don't have much experience in using their imaginations. (which is another joke, in case the child-free are also humorless - which is another joke.)

'Every freaking parenting thread" would be what we call hyperbole. Purposeful exaggeration for effect. I'll bet a nickel that you've done it a time or two yourself. (please note - I really don't expect you to send me a nickel if I win the bet. That is what we call a figure of speech.)

Oh come on. we all know search doesn't work and I have been around long enough to know you HAVE stated you hate children (in your defense, you usually add a 'but not all children' disclaimer just to get people off your back). And this isn't the first Mothers Day you complained about it. This thread is an annual event. Almost worthy of it's own holiday. ;)

Yeah...that's it. It is my goal to post an anti-Mothers Day post EVERY YEAR on the DIS. I spend all year thinking about it, because I rabidly hate mothers and children, and I also hate MY mother too. Oh, and I secretly want children because I "protest too much." Yeah, that's it. You've got me all figured out. (sarcasm).

Ahh. So you are backpedaling by saying that you didn't mean all of that, it was exaggerated, and a joke.

Yep, when you fail to back up you claims with facts, resort to "joking." Good tactic!
Don't plan on joining a debate team anytime soon. (That's a joke! Yes, the childfree can joke!) ;)

Please don't put all child free people in the same category. I don't put all parents in the same category with the rude ones. Thanks! :wave2:
