Ann, Congrats on your new car. Those are cute little cars and I hear they are very roomy inside. Care to share a pic? :cheer2:

Robin, How did dinner go tonight?

Dinner was very yummy, very simple plain cooking.

Roast beef with carrots cooked in the roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, baked beans, corn and bread. For dessert we had chocolate/banana snack cake and a pumpkin pie.

Tasted very good, if I must say so myself :thumbsup2

My parents were here and also Alex's girlfriend. It was a nice dinner.

Kim, have you gotten your books yet?
:confused3 No, sorry. I figured they were on their way when Cally posted, but nothing here yet. :worried:

Kim, Airtran and Southwest have been my best deals to date. I use the search engine Travelzoo on Yahoo.
Thanks Colleen. AT and SW are only out of Midway here, which we don't want to do as we live 10 mins. from O'Hare, but the Travelzoo I hadn't used yet, so thanks! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the answers to my gun question.
Sorry for not replying before Robin. Answer tho, NO GUNS, concealed or otherwise, owned by any CIVILIAN I KNOW of, EXCEPT the police officers in our family/school families, and we have quite a few. Here in the City, we're not hunters and we're not afraid, so no guns. Not in MY house! :scared:

Good morning Kim ;)

I'm glad to hear that you are not afraid and don't feel the need to have a gun.

I hope that we can all continue to live this way. ::yes::

we bought the best deal they had when we thought about booking and decided not to look back. I'm so excited about your Disney trip! Hope you had a good time at your father's retirement party! Working in construction (pools) I know from which you speak!
First Ann, Congrats on the car!!! :car: That is Way Cool! :yay: (My mid-life-crisis(?) brother just got a brand-new Ford Mustang!!! )

Ann, my Mom said the same thing about booking the flight and NOT looking back. She was getting a bit stressed too I guess with my hesitation. She is as relieved as I am to BE BOOKED, no matter the cost! So, we have our flights! :cool1: Group rate, thanks to either Betsy or Colleen who mentioned it, and haven't taken credit for it yet - Thank you! ;) I still don't think it's a great price, but Mom & I are relieved that it's DONE. It was UNDER the $3,000 that Mom thought was acceptable for 10 (11 with the baby) to get there, all at the same time, in the same place, so I guess I'm willing to accept it also. Mom bought a bathing suit - so she is DEFINATELY committed to going NOW! :lmao: My cousin hasn't found anything acceptable yet, but I passed along to her ALL the tips and suggestions everyone here gave. :thumbsup2 And, not a 'plug' but, our Dreams Agent, Dorothy, has worked MAGIC with us, literally, as a group initially, AND when adding my cousin's family! Almost everything is already SET! :cool1: We have a Grand Gathering package, with a name! LOL "Dad's Retirement Celebration".

As for 'construction' guys parties, Our guys (my family) all got home at about 9:30 last night, after 9 hours of 'partying' :drinking1 . Thankfully, one of my brothers does not drink AT ALL, so he drove Dad home, the 4 blocks. :lmao: While I only stayed for about an hour, from 3-4 pm, I was told that many more kept coming in/out through the night (including a former friend of mine, who's now head-groundskeeper at Wrigley Field!!!! I missed him!!! :headache: ) Sorry, I'm rambling. Anyway, this is a BIG plumbing company that Dad, and my uncle (retired), 2 brothers and cousins (only 1 now, formerly 3) have and do work for for many years now. It was really something when several of 'THE' owners showed up. :thumbsup2 They arranged to have the bill paid for the entire party, and gave my Dad a lot of credit for keeping the company prosperous all these years, saying he was among, if not THE best they've ever had, AND (I'm not bragging, I'm just sooo proud of my Dad working all these years) gave him a $5,000 going away gift! :faint: I almost cried, I am sooo proud of all he's done in his 62 years! :goodvibes Ok, NOW I'm crying. My Dad is/was such a hard worker that I'm honestly having a hard time even thinking of him as retired. :confused3 His work ethic, which I think I thankfully inherited ;) , is something to BE proud of.

And, If NOTHING else, HE'S TAKING US TO WDW!!!! :lmao: For THAT I'm also grateful!!! :worship: :worship:

P.S. I knew of the 'card' that one of the owners gave my Dad last night, but he didn't open it until today, and when I got there and politely asked what was in it, he showed me 5 fingers. I thought $500, I mean, he's leaving, what's the point behind a big gesture, but then he said the check is 'up there, on the mantle'. $5,000.00 - I was speechless - imagine that :rotfl2: I'm obviously NOT speechless tonight.

sorry for rambling

We had a good day today celebrating his BD and retirement and talking WDW! pixiedust:

Kelly's sick again, tho. Fever.

Again, sorry for rambling. Thanks for reading, if you do. ;)

I'm just chiming in because I was looking at the threads I killed yesterday. Is there a place to get them mounted for display?

3.5 hours and counting...if I didn't kill this thread, I at least gave it a critical wound!

Kim, 5k? Wow that is an awesome gift to receive! I can tell by your post just how proud you are! :goodvibes Your dad sure does sound like a great hard working man!

Not even wounded Mick 67. We all come back in our own time. :goodvibes

Hi All

Hope everyone had a good day.

Kim, glad to hear your trip is all planned, any room for a quick visit if Ann and I can make it down??? Also tell your dad congrats on his retirement, but to keep busy, thats what keeps us young.

Went to lunch with DH and now I think I'll either go to the gym or start getting rid of some of the leaves in the back yard. :scratchin (Either way physical labor when a nap actually sounds good right now :rotfl2: )

Chat with you all later :grouphug:

Ann, The shop is open...we are moving into a larger space next door-

We currently have 7000 sq feet of retail space and are looking at 36,000.

Danny (my boss) started this with the intention of doing the skateboard and climbing park it's the negotiation prcess that's really taking a toll on our timeline.

Kim, great news from your end, except for Kelly being sick

I sent your books UPS ground, I'll have to track the box tomorrow and see where it wound up :confused3

 A great big hello to everyone else out there!

~tigg~

TW - Thanks for clarifying that for me....I thought it was opened, but then I thought you might have hit a snag.

Kim - feel free to ramble ANYTIME! I've missed your posts! I bet you are so proud of your dad. That was quite a send off and it'll be great to celebrate with the family in Disney. Please let us know if you can squeeze some time in for Susan and I. If it's a Saturday or Sunday, we'll hop down to the park for the day to say hello!

I hope everyone else is doing well. I've been busy today, but unlike tinknutt - I just HAD to take a nap. I want to spend some quality time with DH, so I'll sign off with just a short post!

Nighty-night!

Hey! I just had an idea!

Who's up for Vancouver in 2010?

-writing 2010 just looks sooo weird :worried:
