The snow we were supposed to get overnight didn't amount to much.

It is extremely windy out though and it is kinda snowing still.

I hope it stays away.

Colleen what is a mummers parade:confused3

Oh yeah, the temperature HERE is 32, I'd much rather have yours.

Although our forecast is calling for 51 on Monday.

The Mummers Parade is held each New Year's Day in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Local clubs (usually called "New Years Associations") compete in one of four categories (Comics, Fancies, String Bands, and Fancy Brigades). They prepare elaborate costumes and moveable scenery, which take months to complete. This is done in clubhouses, many of which are located on or near 2nd Street (called "Two Street" by some local residents) [1] in South Philadelphia, which also serve as social gathering places for members.

It's been going on since the 1600's ! ITS A HUGE DEAL IN THE PHILLY AREA.
I never heard of it until I moved to PA and saw Philly news!:confused3

here is their Website!

Morning!! Or should I say afternoon.... :teeth: I woke up about 30mins ago! I didn't mean to sleep this late... sheesh :confused3

Hiya mannasn  Welcome!!

I don't know what the temp is outside yet... but it sure does sound windy.

I've never heard of a mummer's parade either. It sounds pretty cool! :cool2:

Looks like everyone is doing "okay" today...no hangovers anywhere???? I was really surprised that the neighborhood fireworks were done by 12:30 or so....OR i just was too tired & didn't hear anymore after that!!!

DS & friends are still asleep...but who knows what time they even went to sleep...probably very early this a.m. my guess would be 4 or 5 - they were asleep when i got up at 6 or maybe it was 7....just went to Safeway to get me a Starbucks & got stuff to make them bacon, eggs, hash browns & freshly baked donuts....& OJ too....

sure we'll watch the Rose Bowl Parade & have football on all day....but just finished a book, so think i'll start a new one...DD just brought me The Kite Runner....

back to work tomorrow...which is a good thing i think....need to get back to the gym & a regular routine:eek:

just checked the weather forecast - supposed to get up to 63 today:woohoo: after the drop last night to 27....that's a good thing....altho PD your newly fallen snowfall sounds wonderful....those days are the ones I miss from Iowa.....

Yum, foods on at Brenda's house :thumbsup2

Thanks for the mummers explanation DU, never heard of it before.

I'm cleaning up the storage room so that the tree and decorations can go away again.

After it was put up everything was just thrown in there all over the place.

It's not a very big space so I've decided to straighten it up a bit while I feel just a tiny shred of ambition!

No hangovers for me.... I had about 3 beers lastnight. It's so boring drinking by yourself :lmao: I'm more of a social drinker I guess. :teeth:

Hey that sounds like my kind of breakfast!!! Although I'm starting back my diet and exercise routine today.

I started when Roger left but the holidays kind of messed me up bad. I was doing really good the first couple of weeks too. :sad2:

You know I've never had a Starbucks. They just recently opened up a Starbucks here. Yea, we're expanding... :rolleyes1

I did buy some Starbucks coffee grounds from WalMart so I could make my own. And it's pretty darn good.... :thumbsup2

Oh the weather.... it's 51 right now and we have a high of 55...

I guess I'll take it...but I do wish we'd get some snow:confused3

I need some ambition too.... My boxes of Christmas stuff is still sitting by the garage door.

I have to back out the car to get into the attic and who wants to drive?

To top it off my Christmas tree is in the middle of the backyard still in the stand.. .:lmao: I should leave it there til Roger gets back :teeth:

I probably could find a way to pack up some of ours and send it down to you Cally!

It's actually starting to snow quite hard now.

Hey Cally.... I just thought of something.

There's a good chance that we are driving to Florida the end of February.

Maybe I can find a way to stop and say hello when we pass by you:confused3

Heck I guess I just have to tell Rick to stop the van and that will be the end of it.:lmao:

I still wish that I had been able to find you last time we were so very very close to you:guilty:

Hey great idea.

You can decorate it up just for Roger:goodvibes

You can tell him that you saved Christmas for him, maybe even put some gifts under it :thumbsup2

Hey that sounds great!! We'll have to work something out!

Where do you leave from when you go on your cruise in 25 more days? :yay:

That is hilarious... :rotfl2: I should do that!! I think I could throw some live flowers on it....and maybe save some of the sparkly garland to go around it...

Then put a couple of gifts under it... :thumbsup2

We fly out Fri Jan 25 to Orlando, stay Friday and Saturday night and then the ship leaves out of Port Canaveral on Sunday.

Our tentative leaving date for February is Friday Feb 22 or Sat the 23rd.

We are driving to the Miami area, cause the airplane guys up here feel the need to fuel their addiction in the middle of winter where it is warm.

Hey, I'm not complaining if it gets me to the warmth of Florida again.

I'm sure that he would get a huge kick out of it.

When is he expected home?

How exciting!! Two trips in less then a month!!

I've never been to Miami... I bet it's nice. :thumbsup2

Roger gets back Feb.8 :worship:

Which also means I'll be looking for a job real soon.... :rolleyes1

Actually I am looking forward to working.... it's been years since I've worked and I think if I want to keep my sanity I need to get out of the house!!!

I don't think I've ever really been to Miami either.

It's kind of on the south western side of Miami.

Quite a haul to get there from here. I haven't actually figured it out yet but to get to Orlando is an 18-20 nonstop drive, so Miami is gonna add another few hours to that I'm sure.

Where do you think you'd like to work?

Hospital, nursing homes, home care:confused3

We are watching the snow in Buffalo NY!

There is a special hockey game on today that's being played outside~

Sounds like everyone had a good new years, big or small...

Thank you DU for explaining to Robin what a mummer is.

I forget some things are truly Philly things~

I took down alot of the outside stuff today.

We'll keep the tree up for a little while longer.

Wow that's going to be ONE LONG DRIVE. Are you doing it straight?:scared:

About working... I would love to work in a doctor's office with normal hours but I won't hold my breath for that one.

I will apply to any place that is accepting and take it from there.

I don't mind the hospital. I really like labor and delivery but they are not hiring LPN's. So most likely if I did get a job in the hospital it would probably be a Med-Surg floor. Although if they had a spot in Post-Partum I would gladly take it too since they DO hire LPN's

I could work in a nursing home but I've heard many horror stories and it kind of frightens me. :scared: BUT~ if that was the only job available then I would take it!

I don't think I would be comfortable in home care.. I have to be around lots people...hence the getting out of the house before I lose my sanity syndrome.

So I'm not too picky where I work... and I don't have a "set in stone" place I have to work...

I'm really open to everything and anything...

I just need a job

Hiya Colleen

I saw the Hockey game on tv when I was browsing the tv guide.

no, we would not drive it straight thru.

We'd stop at least one night along the way.

We typically stop in Georgia, hence the the possibility of seeing you ;)

If we were to leave at noon on Friday then we would possibly have to stop twice on the way there, depending on how things go with traffic etc.

With the job, I think your best bet is to take whatever you can and keep looking for what you really want.

That way you have some experience to put on your resume when it comes time for the next job.
