Everyone, I don't usually post on this thread, but I've been reading our well wishes, and I also would like to say thank you.

MY Grandpa was beyond a good man, he was a hero for his family and his country. Our lives will be changed without him, but his memory will live on. I love that old guy like my kids love their Papa, and always will.

Again, thank you all for your heartfelt sympathy.

So...what does anyone else have planned for the Holiday weekkend?

I'm thinking I'll spend a day @ my Sisters farm...BBQ-ing...maybe a little farm work...always a good time /family time there...it's my Oasis if you know what I mean...

another day...go to beautiful Presque Isle....a picnic...get some sun on my pink & whites....take a dip in the lake...

hmm...some Grandkids & I are behind on our "frog-gigging" ....

all in all...some R&R....

Next...a question....would it be alright to add some of you to my buddly list?
...anybody who gives permission say "aargh" "aye-aye" or "avast"....or whatever suits your pleasure...

Aye-Aye by me, but it won't do any good, since my 'light' is off. I'm invisible. Don't know why I started, and don't know why I keep it that way, but I do.

Lots of great plans for the 4th everyone!! I still can't believe it's fast approaching. We're going to Pirate's Cove tomorrow, school playdate on Wed., CUBS game on Thurs., cooking & baking on Fri for Sat party at a friend's, who lives 3 blocks from a neighboring suburban fireworks display (which dh works for), and we just walk over shortly before, and enjoy the display without the parking and traffic headaches.

I guess I should probably visit my parents on the 4th, Sunday, or maybe even Monday. No definite plans yet. No invitation either.

BTW Bill, how did the rose thing go??

Sounds like some fun planned for your long weekend. We have a holiday on July 1 (Canada Day), whatever day it falls on in the week is the day the holiday is. So no long weekend for most people. Our shop (the one my husband and I own) is going to close Thursday, Friday, Sat and Sunday.........just because my husband feels like taking the time off. We only have a few employees and nobody objected to a long weekend

My daughter is doing a lot of local dance performances this week, for special events. So we will be busy running to those and having practices etc.


Sure you can put me on your buddy list, Brer_Papa. Ummmmm, what exactly is the buddy list and what benefit is there to it???????

Hmmmm, well, it's a list that will show you (under User CP) if someone ON your list is online the same time as you. Benefit?? Well, I guess it's more of a personal perference really.

aaaa....it went well....the daughters had a rose each in the "DAD" spray...each grandchild had a rose in the "GrandPa" spray...white for girls (4) and red for boys (2)...

then a satin pillow with red roses (4) and white (4) roses for each Great-Grandchild...

it went well... lots of nice comments....

one story...a short one...but a doozy....get your tissues....

when I go to WishingStar's house...or they come to mine...this is what happens...

3 voices yelling "Hi Papa"...

3 "Hi Honey" followed by a "where have you been? I haven't seen you in a long long time..."

note: I could have seen them a half hour ago...but...they love it...

and then a bunch of hugs & kisses....


anyway...last week...when I first went out to WishingStar's after DFIL's passing...

I walk in..and get 2 "Hi Papa" 's....Kara was upstairs....didn't hear me come in...

I got out 2 "HI Honey's"...and
before anything else...Corey...age 6 almost 7...says..."Papa...I have something to tell you"...

and he sings :
cuz when I Yodeladdle eedle idle odle....why lookee how them cows get hyponitized..."

well...THAT blows me away...and i give him a HUGE hug...

and he says..."me and Kara been practicing so when we sing it to you , you will feel better..."

so Kara comes down...and they duet it...

a special and precious gift....I will NEVER forget!

Cruisin'...Is the July 1st - Canada Day Holiday similar in meaning to the 4th of July Holiday here? I mean no disrespect....just curious....and a bit apologetic because I don't know..

Brer_Papa, I do believe that they are basically the same thing.

Canada became a "country" on July 1, 1867. Hence the celebration of Canada day.
