Let's all go to the snack bar...
Let's all go to the snack bar...
Let's all go to the snack bar...
and get something to eat.....

and...

"How about something to drink?

ooooo...Fanta orange!"

there were hot dogs and ice cream bars
dancing & wiggling across the bottom of the screen....

back to our regularly scheduled progam:

did somebody say "ROAD TRIP?"
a drive-in ROAD TRIP?
I'm in!

here i thought all that talking at the drive-in was from the car next to mine...
I wonder what movies were playing.....

Thanks for the word clarifications to that song.

Wow, I guess that must have been the standard ad used all over the continent:eek: That was so old and crackily looking way back then, what a piece of nostalgia.!!

Funny how some things like that stick in your brain isn't it. I always thought that dancing food was kind of neat!!

So, if you weren't going to the drive in because you thought there was a good movie on , exactly WHY???? were you there, huh ;) Brer_Papa.

Has anyone ever taken a road trip with no destination in mind?? I have always thought it would be cool to take a trip and say okay, now lets drive down this road, oh and let's turn here and just see where you end up!!!

Yes, but for only about 1 hour one way, before turning back around. Too scared to get lost! LOL

Kim, as long as you have a road map you will never get totally lost. You can always ask someone where you are too.

:wave2: expecting a warm possible thunderstormy day here today. Hope everyone has a good day!

Here's my drive in stories:

The last time I saw a movie at the drive in, Tom Hanks was a new up & coming actor and he was starring in "Bachelor Party". My husband (then almost fiancee) and I took his brand new mustang to see the movie. We bought one of those mosquito coils (it was summer in Maryland - BUGGY) and must have lit it wrong. The mosquitoes seemed to enjoy it, but the smoke was so thick, we had to watch the movie outside!

Before that, I was living in Ablequerque, NM with my folks (just before we moved to the Philippines) and we watched "The Great Waldo Pepper" with Robert Redford (shows you how old I am!). My dad always made popcorn (with bacon) and salted it, shook it in a BIG paper bag and homemade chocolate peanutbutter fudge. It was always a treat when we did that.

Ahhhh....what memories!

Enjoy your day thread killers, we'll chat again soon!

Everyone! I hope all is well!
I too have such fond memories of going to the Drive-in.
My Dad took us quite often.
He took the whole neighborhood sometimes! We'd all wear our pajamas and pile into the station wagon. My dad had a couple Sunoco gas stations and we'd stop there to get bottles of Pepsi from the machine. We'd be so happy we were getting "free" Pepsi's and my Dad would keep saying "They're NOT FREE!"
:p
It was fun playing on the playground at the Drive-in too.
I think my Dad took us to see "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad World" 3 times.
We saw all the Jerry Lewis movies and lots of Clint Eastwood movies too! Of course, we saw all the Disney movies.

All the kids just loved my Dad, he was very handsome and eccentric. He was SO FUNNY too!
He passed away 3 years ago, I miss him so much.
It's nice to remember all the good times and going to the Drive-in was one of the best!

 & Good Evening/Morning Thread-Killers!

Ahoy Cruisin' ! :boat: ...
ayup....taken a few vacations where we jst get in the car and go.....usually in the fall...we have seen nature at her finest doing this.....and found some wonderful out-of-the-way places to visit...

:wave2: Kim! Sure, we got lost a time or 3....but that's part of the fun... & ayup....a Road trip would be cool...this group would have more fun-per-minute than miles-per-hour...

Greetings :sunny: HollyAnn.... YUM! on the corn with bacon!
I remember those coils....

I also remember quite a few people blaming the coils for "steaming up" the windows...
"uh huh...sure they did" I always replied....it didn't explain the footprints on the windows though...

 Montessori! ::yes:: Aaaah.....what wonderful drive-in memories you have....your Dad sounds like a wonderful person...

My folks took us too....I saw the "Parent Trap" at the drive-in...I had the BIGGEST crush on Hayley Mills  ....

Anybody remember the "dusk to dawn" drive in specials?....

I remember the Clint Eastwood dusk to dawn....they showed "For a few dollars"..."For a few dolars more"..an.."The good, the bad & the ugly"...

LOL BP! And I thought if I posted, I'D be the killer tonight! (Oops, I am, for the moment anyway) :o

Was your DW "at the helm" tonight, computer-wise? I think I saw a couple posts of hers. ;)

Glad you're BOTH DISing again!!! :sunny:

I took a date to the drive-in
we had a lot of fun

2 movies were playing and
we stayed 'til they were done

went to the snack bar for sodas
and candy and a bucket of corn

I saw kids on the playground and
heard impatient people honking their horn

The movies were awesome and scary,
ones you don't want to miss

But she kept saying to jump
in the back seat and she'd give me a kiss

Well that made me nervous
so i got out of the car

I watched the rest of the movie
sitting in front of the snack bar

Sure you did, ok, whatever you say, ;) ;) Mr. "foggin' the windows" Brer!!!! :p

She went to the drive-in the next
night is what I heard

and with my so called best friend who
called me a nerd

he did jump in the back seat
and he got a kiss

he bragged the next day it was
such heavenly bliss

but they got in trouble
and he made it right

they had to get married for
what they did that night

he stood in front of the preacher
with knees shaking like jelly

as he watched his Bride-to-be
walk toward him with her swollen belly

They lived happily ever after
and have a beautiful son

He's a constant reminder
of their night of fun

Ayup....she said she was going to DIS....and that's good....she spent the day by herself today....she said it was rough.... I'm glad she spent some time posting and getting back in the swing of things......

I called her from work a few times today...(she knew I was going to have a long day)....this was the first day she didn't spend with her Mom...

seems to me she was getting as much support from her Mom as she was giving...
a tough time for all...

Aww. Good & bad I guess, as seems appropriate. :( Sad, but normal.

She seemed quite IN the spirit in her posts, I hope that's a good sign. Naturally, reality is gonna make her sad tho. :( I'm glad your MIL has such a great support, and vice versa. :grouphug:
