Good morning, all!

Another week begins! I have relatives coming into town tomorrow morning to stay with us - unexpectedly - so today I'm feeling just a wee bit stressed. What better way to tackle that stress than with exercise! Maybe I'll WATP twice today...:p

Had a super weekend with the old, reliable WATP, and I hope everyone else had a chance to get active as well!

We've had "monsoon weather" around Maine for about two straight weeks - anyone else feeling like they're ready for a little sun? It looks like today might be the day, so if you've been "rained in," now's your chance to be outside! Get out there and make it happen!!!

And be sure to post here about your exercise this weekend! You got up and got active? GOOD FOR YOU!!!:bounce: Tell us all about it! Inspire me! You WISHers always do!!!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Daisy;)

I DID!!!!!

Daisy - I have to agree with you about ol' reliable WATP videos... I did the 3 mile Friday, and the 2 mile both Saturday and Sunday. I also did my 1/2 hr work out at Curves Saturday morning.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I did! :)

Saturday, I tried that "Hot Country Workout" video I found at the library. Um... where's the Country? It wasn't my thing, either, and I'd thought that one looked like fun. :( But other than the warmup, which got boring after 5 minutes of the *same* 3 moves put together, it wasn't something I could keep up with nor anything I *wanted* to keep up with, and I even pulled my calf a little trying to do it. :( I gave up after about 10 or 15 minutes (most of which were spent scrambling trying to follow the moves, or giving up and just walking in place), put in the Tai Chi, and did something like 20 minutes of Tai Chi instead, which worked out the pulled calf so that it didn't cramp up and was fine an hour later (it wouldn't have been if I'd not done the Tai Chi).

Then last night, I did about 30 or 40 minutes of Tai Chi, and only stopped because it was already after 10pm and I had to get several hours of work in on a project for a professor which I *have* to finish tonight because I'm turning it over to the professor tomorrow. But I did get to go through the whole warmup, qigong exercises (I call them "focus" exercises because that's what they seem to do for me), then the "follow along" portions of the next 2 foundation moves since I know how to do those as long as I'm following along, then the instruction and follow along of the next 3 moves. Have I mentioned how cool Tai Chi is? I did not want to stop. :) I just wish I could do them at work -- don't know the routine well enough yet to do it without the verbal instructions. Next comes learning how to put the 5 foundation moves together. :) Oh, and I figured out how to put some *very* minor weight training in with the Tai Chi -- during the warmup and qigong exercises yesterday, I held a full bottle of water (500mL) in each hand. That gave me enough resistance to give my arms the extra workout they wanted, though I put them down for the actual foundation moves. And I was *so* much more focused after that, I couldn't believe it.

Question for y'all -- there's an exercise machine of some sort that I could have sworn existed, but I'm not finding now. It's something where you stand on moving feet platform things, but instead of moving either up and down like a stairstepper, or just straight forward and back like the cross country ski machine or a couple of the elliptical trainers, I could have sworn the feet were on tracks that curved with the natural curve of the hip and thus put less strain on the knees and hips. And then it had arm sticks that you grasp with your hands and they moved forward and back in time with the feet. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? Of course, I've only looked online so far. All the "fitness/exercise" shops were closed when we were talking about them last night.

A hearty dose of ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ for that unexpected company! Hope you find the time to work out while they are in town!

Saturday I did my weight routine and went rollerblading (while DH went shopping with his parents!) and yesterday I did my weight routine and went power walking, although we were cut short by a mile thanks to, yup....RAIN! ;)

I did 4 miles on the treadmill on Sat. & Sun. I've hit a plateau and I had a big family reunion on Sat. so I did 4 miles each day rather than 2 miles. I'm still not losing, but I am in ketosis. So I'm doing something right.

Tammy - are you talking about a NordicTrack?? those are for the very coordinated people in this world - not me!

Anyhow - Sat a.m. I jogged 2. 5 miles and did 40 mins upper/lower body yoga sculpt video.

Sunday is normally my day off but since I've been eating so horribly and put a couple pounds back on, I took a 2+ mile with my DD and doggy!

Rajah-I think its the Tony Little Gizelle...take a look, I'm pretty sure!;)
Great job everybody!!! I strolled around the neighborhood yesterday. It was all I could do, I sat around Fri and Sat, letting the swelling go down. I am feeling much better today, though!
Have a great day!!:p

Maybe. I'd have to see it. But, now that you gave me a name... there's a fitness shop across from the mall that says they carry nordictrac stuff, so maybe I can see one there. Though I suspect if that's it it'd be way, way, way out of my price range.

We stopped at Oshman's at lunch today and I found an eliptical trainer that seems kinda fun...kinda a combo of forward sliding and stairstepping but less knee&hip-hurting, but I'm still afraid it'd cause more trouble than it'd improve, I dunno. I also found some wrist-weights that I may go back and get -- they're adjustable. You have 10 1/5th pound weights strapped into the wristbands, and you can take them out to vary the weight. I'm thinking putting 2 of those bars into the bands and wearing the wrist bands while doing Tai Chi would give me just enough resistance to get some more upper-body workout from it (the Tai Chi has been *great* for lower-body, but not that good for upper) but light enough to not hurt myself.

I'm just trying to find something that's a little more aerobic that I could do once a week and enjoy doing. I won't do a treadmill, I won't walk fast enough long enough to make it aerobic, the way I'm riding the exercise bike isn't very aerobic, but I've always thought those sliding machine thingies might be fun. But the ones that you just slide your feet forward and back on a level surface always hurt either my hips, knees, or ankles, or some combination. And I've looked various types of aerobic workouts including WATP and similar programs, and I just do *not* enjoy those. I really want to do one that's dancing, but haven't found any good ones. :(

Tony Little's Gizelle is on the infomercials, try a web search by his name, or name of equipment. This piece is not by nordic track. We have a Health Rider, which you sit in, and use arms/legs in a push-pull motion. Good all over workout!

Hi everybody!

I had a hard time getting myself going this weekend because of all the rain, but mostly because of the awful humidity! Who wants to exercise when you're sweating just sitting still!

That said, I did exercise this weekend!

Sat night DH kinda shamed me into going out walking with him, we went about 2.5mi.
Sun we had just enough sun for me to go to the pool & swim my mile.
Today, Mon, I was really feeling stressed after work so I went to the pool agian today & did 1 mi. Boy are my arms sore tonight!

The good news is that I really think all this exercise is helping my weight loss! I got another new clippie this week!
