Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

Haters gon' hate.

Things are constantly changing at Disney World (and in the real world) and I'm frankly so sick of hearing people whine about the changes. It's really incredible how negative people can be about change and progress. Change can be clunky and uncomfortable, but it's often for good. Give me a break.

Not even remotely the same thing. I KNOW they like the product. The only thing that's changed is you get a few less fastpasses.

How do you KNOW they like the product? You like the product. You have no idea what anybody else's reasons are for going to Disney, you have no idea what anybody elses breaking point is where they no longer see value in a vacation. If you feel so strongly about people trying FP+, sponsor their vacation.

Who are you to decide whether someone can risk multiple thousands of dollars on something they think they won't like? It's not like telling them to eat their vegetables. I think I have an extra fastpass or two from our December DLR trip. Think they'll take them late? I could send them your way? ;) We are happy to be plotting a return to DLR ourselves this year. We love parades. And I'm sure we will love the mine coaster. But they aren't going anywhere. I need more dust to clear. Oh...... and DLR is pretty awesome in its own right. And they don't even ration rides. :)
but if FP really decides your vacation thats a problem. You still can get FP just not as many. They still have a standby line depending on what time you go they aren't that bad and a lot of lines now have things to distract you such as games and things.

Absolutely it can be done. And if it was just myself I wouldn't hesitate. But having my sis and her family is something I don't have experience with. I'm single - no kiddos but 3 will be on my next trip. I don't think it's absurd that I'm holding off. Since Disneys goal was to get people locked into their trips, I can see the advantage of having off site per book. I'm positive the percentage of people with a car is greater off site vs on so those are the folks that can leave more easily. And I know Disney wants to drive up occupancy rates too....this is normal goal to have but I think they still need the offsiters too.
I understand and I agree but for know people are just going to have to deal with it or sadly not go which in my opinion I wouldn't consider.

So if they did not like the product before, why did they go before or why are they even on this board.

:thumbsup2

I don't get that logic either. If Disney decided to close to doors to AK, would it be no big deal because there was a time before it, and people still went to Disney then? I mean AK has been around about as long as FP-, so how attached could people possibly be, right?

Would AK being closed upset me? Yes. Would it ruin my vacation and make me not go to WDW as a whole? No. Now maybe that is not true for others, and that is their choice to make. But I would think it sad if someone decided AK being closed meant they were missing out on MK, Epcot, DS, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Downtown Disney, and everything else.

Why is that a problem? Who cares? Nobody is telling you FP should decide your vacation. Everybody is entitled to decide what creates value for them, what takes it away, and where they want to spend their money. Why does it bother so many of you that this is the final push that makes Disney not worth it for certain people?

I understand its a long time but people need to understand change is going to come at some point. This is what disney felt was necessary so they did it. Not everyone is going to like what disney does but you can't please everyone it's not possible. Disney isn't all about rides either disney is an experience I go to ride rides yes but I live the atmosphere the resorts, the restaurants, shows and characters. If I just want rides I go to six flags. I understand where your coming from but the complaints from the dis boards make up a very small amount of what is in disney every day so what we say isn't going to affect what disney does.

Totally understand you can't please everyone. Believe me - that's the definition of torture. And of course change is inevitable. I think the thing FP+ "haters" are tired of hearing is that we're basically wrong because of all the people that love it. Or just try it, you'll like it.

If you were planning a once in a lifetime trip, would you take the chance now or wait? I wanna go when I know my niece and nephews will be able to ride Soarin', TT, TSMM and hopefully 7DMT. Was thinking about Oct this year but based on MM+ testing I'm holding off making reservations til I know what I'm dealing with.

I must admit, I am really nervous about our upcoming trip because of FP+ and MDE and this will be our first trip using it. I think it is difficult to use and I really messed up our accounts but DH was able to fix everything, I think. :confused3

I also consider it our trial run trip for our late 2014 trip with another family who hasn't been to Disney in 15 years and has only been that one time. They aren't much for planning so it should be interesting.

I don't believe it bothers us that people are deciding not to go anymore because of FP+, I think it bothers us that they are on a Disney site trying to convince others not to go.
If you don't want to go anymore then just don't, you don't have to get everybody else on your bandwagon.

Yep. That about covers it.

The product has changed. People are allowed to change their feelings accordingly. Again I ask, why do you care?

Would AK being closed upset me? Yes. Would it ruin my vacation and make me not go to WDW as a whole? No. Now maybe that is not true for others, and that is their choice to make. But I would think it sad if someone decided AK being closed meant they were missing out on MK, Epcot, DS, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Downtown Disney, and everything else.

Exactly, their choice to make. People have different priorities and see value in different things. I can't understand why so many people seem to take it personally that there are people out there who no longer see value in what Disney is doing.

There are people out there who think Disney is stupid and have never tried it. They don't see the value in spending their money there. I don't care. More for me.

I don't pay $100 to walk in the gates at Disney to play games while waiting in long lines.

Why is it OK for people supporting FP+ to tell me to use standby when it wasn't OK to tell people who hated the old system to wait standby to ride TSMM?

Really? Trying to convince others not to go? Must have missed that rabid band of meanies telling people to cancel their trips because of FP+. Voicing a negative opinion is hardly trying to sway other people's feelings.

The only convincing I've seen is people trying to convince others to like FP+. Or trying to convince others to spend thousands of dollars to give it a try. Hmm, wonder where I saw that...

If I was on my laptop I'd give you a thumbsup! =)

I never thought I would say this, but I really am glad I don't have an upcoming trip planned. I feel bad for those who get to be the guinea pigs for the FP+ mess.
We haven't been since 2011 and I'm really wanting to go again, but I'm definitely waiting until the testing is done and things have stabilized.
Actually, I'm thinking maybe a Universal/Sea World trip later this year and hold off on Disney until 2015. Yes, I know Universal doesn't have free Express, but at least I already know how everything works there and how to make it work for us.

If I were planning a once in a lifetime trip, I might hold off just because things are in a bit of a state of flux and they could decide to try something out that doesn't work during the week you're there, but I was just there a few weeks ago, and I would not describe it as a mess at all. It's definitely a little different as compared to the way we're accustomed to touring the parks and the experience was not without a couple of hiccups, but all in all, it enhanced it more than it detracted from it.

And for the record, I do totally see some advantages to FP+. I think it's cool that on arrival day you could get to a park in the a afternoon or evening and ride TSMM or Soarin' without being there early to get a FP_. I just also can see the disadvantages too. One thing I'm certain of is that the DIS is full of smart creative people and will figure out how to work the new system (whatever the end product may be) to their advantage. We just need to know what that final system is.

October actually might be a good time a lot of the final product should be don't by July unless something wrong happens. Disney is pushing for all four parks to be FP+ only by the end of the month. Also all disney resorts will make magic bands the default by the end of the month. So I think October would be a good time. My advice for you would is wait a little bit don't book yet. Wait see what deals come out too maybe you could get free dining or something who knows.

We were just down in WDW in November and had a great experience with the MagicBands and Fastpass+. We're heading back down in 9 days and expect to have another great time with the MagicBands and Fastpass+. Works great for us, but, then again, we're not high maintenance people who feel that their vacation is ruined if they can't ride Test Track 6 times in an hour and then pull 4 more FP's for Soarin'...
