Who else is dissapointed by this so called "deal"?

It doesn't work for me either. I wasn't actually planning a trip for 1st half 09 but I would have squeezed in a 5 night trip in Jan if the deal had been different. I think this deal is best for a party of 2 planning on staying 7 nights in a high priced room. Think honeymoon, it would be a huge savings for 2 adults at the GF for 7 nights. Much better than free dining for them... but not for my family of 4!:sad2:

I think anytime a business gives you buy 4 get 3 free is great, regardless of what other discounts may be offered at another time or concurrently. If my grocery store offers buy 1 get 1-- I am happy. :thumbsup2 But I don't get upset when it is buy 2 get 1. :rolleyes1 I'll take whatever I can get for a discount and this-- as a standalone offer-- seems quite generous to me. It's not like they have to give us a discount... I saved $1430 over our AAA discount or $1830 total. Just room and hoppers, 7 days. Shoot, I was happy paying $1430 more because I had AAA discount!:thumbsup2

This is finally a great deal for me. I am an AP holder (and had a generous discount for my room at AKL) and my DD and Dsil had a AAA discount for AKL-Sv for Jan. We already had our PH tickets for 9 days. With the 4/3 deal for them it literally saved me over $800. Free dining has never been a benefit for us so we are pretty pleased that this deal came out.

Er, I might agree with you, though I wouldn't use the word "disgusted" to describe my feelings about the deal - original source of the word, I know - or the people discussing the deal, but this is a disappointed thread/vent and so the appropriate place for those who don't benefit to talk about it. So, if I felt the need to pass judgment, I probably wouldn't read the thread. Disney can't please everyone so these posts are inevitable ... unless we all got to go for free.

This discount didn't work for my January trip, as an AP holder, which already has airfare purchased, but my AP expires shortly after so I booked a another unexpected trip. But we are dependent on reasonable airfare to make it worthwhile.

Well, by responding to my post with the need to pass judgment comment, you did in fact, pass judgment. Someone else said they where disgusted that they had a good deal and could not get an even better deal by using this package. Again, when I can't use a code or whatever, I am happy for those that can. Life is hard especially now and it is nice to be able to go to Disney and have magical fun, many cannot. I can think of real issues to be disgusted about, not that someone else gets a good deal on a code that does not work for me, esp when I already have a good deal. And the whole don't read the thread if you are going to pass judgment...pot, meet kettle.:thumbsup2

The title of the thread says it all. This is for people to vent about being disappointed that this particular "deal" wasn't so great for them. The OP has every right to express her disappointment or "disgust" about not being able to get the deal they wanted or save the amount of money they were expecting to save on their upcoming trip. So, let's not keep rubbing salt in her wound. If you think the deal is great, that's your opinion. The whole point of the OP starting this thread was to give the folks who didn't think it was a great deal a place to talk about it - hopefully without being made to feel bad about it.

I think you might have completely misunderstood or not bothered to think about what I wrote. Because, in fact, I said I agreed with you about the perceived "entitlement of discount". I just feel that these posters have a right to state their thoughts in this thread. And, that doesn't mean they are not happy for those who could use it? I've never read anyone stating that.

Read or not read this thread, it makes no difference, but it seems to make you angry so not sure why you would want to do that to yourself. I stop reading threads that make me steamed and make me want to veer from the Golden Rule - we all encounter them - because who needs that? :confused3 And, with that said, I won't be taking up any more of my precious time arguing this.

I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way. Thank you for stating it in these terms.

I sadly can't take advantage of this deal because we can't go longer (work, kids, flights) then 4 nights. I am glad it is great for so many other people, but for me I am a tad sad that I could get 7 nights for what I am paying for 4 if I could stay longer :(
You could book for 5 nights and get the 200 dollar gift card but leave after the 4th night!

I thought about that--and actually it almost works (even paying for an extra night of dining which gives 1 more set of credits PLUS the GC....hmmmmmm

Thank you princess Tiffany and Jenjersap!! This is our first trip and I was just trying to save some money. Of course I am happy for others, just wish I was one of them too! :-)

. . . We were just there over Halloween and will be back for Thanksgiving. There is no way I can pull the kids out of school again (not missing days for Thanksgiving) to take advantage of the $200 GC. Heck, that’s why I can’t take advantage of the birthday deal offer—all our birthdays are in the beginning of the year. And the October trip we just had and the upcoming trip for Thanksgiving were planned back in the beginning of this year . . .

Wow, I only wish we could go to WDW more than once a year! :goodvibes

Too little money, and not enough time off work!

We are doing that and paying 100 dollars more. So basically we are getting more meals and 100 dollar GC.

It's not that it's not a good deal, the disappointment comes from the fact that Mousesavers and a number of other TA websites were touting this as the best deal Disney has come out with in years. Well, it's not. We are saving $1,600.00 with the free dining Visa code for our December trip. If we book in May with the current deal we will save a little over $500.00. I'm not complaining, I'm happy to save $500.00, but a free dining code (or including some free dining days with the new deal), would have saved us about $1,000.00 more.

This is the best deal in years.
Free dining does not save you this much money. If you go to value, least savings, in the first three months, with this deal, you save more than free dining for the same time period. Im not putting up the math again, I did earlier in the thread.

How many people are you jamming into a room that free dining is saving you 1600 and this is only saving you 500? At 500 savings you have to be at a value and you're including the gcard, because even mods would save a min of 650 and only on certain weeks, usually it'd be near 800 for most weeks after factoring in the gcard.

By my calculation, for a week, you have 6 or 5.5 people in a room to be saving 1600 with free dining?

For onsite, this just is the best deal they've offered, only marginally better than 40 percent off, but those are like jackpot codes and never public.

I was not talking about the OP, find out the facts before you post nonsense. And last time I checked, a person can post to any thread with whatever opinions they wished and I did so AND I should not be made to feel bad about it, practice what you preach, dear.

I apoligize, I mistook your tone.:flower3:

It did not make me angry, you mistook my emotion.

I had to cancel our Dec trip. My daughter had two surgeries this summer and we where looking forward to Disney magic this December, however, she had another surgery unexpectedly and we need a new(er) car (my 94 Volvo is on its last legs, :sad1:). I was disappointed and then I thought that with my DH's free hotel stays he has racked up with all his work travel, we could get tickets and go to Disney in May. I did look at the vacation packages put I could not justify spending that much at this time, but I was/am thankful we had the free hotel stays and would be getting to go. How many people dream their entire lives of going to Disney and never get to go? Then the Pay4/Free 3 came out and it was about $700 off the package. Not only that, but for what I would pay for tickets and food staying for free off property, would be the same amount as staying ON property with this deal including DDP and not paying for parking. Needless to say I am elated and thankful!

I understand DISAPPOINTMENT...but disgust? At what? That Disney is a business and has employees to pay besides other things and as a business they need to make a profit? How dare they! Who does Disney think they are? Jeez, people just are not thankful anymore for anything. It seems no matter how much people get they demand more. I think the free dining is a good deal, I can not go at that time for various reasons...am I disgusted? NO, I am thankful that I even get to go to Disney and am glad that it is available for people that can go at that time that might not even be able to go if it was not for this deal.

Also, if you feel people have a right to post their feelings...that is exactly what I did. I just did not agree with people who stated they where disgusted.:thumbsup2

My goodness, let me clarify myself. By OP I was referring to the poster (jensen) who originally wrote she was "disgusted." And I didn't say you or anyone else couldn't post on this thread and my opinion is not nonsense. You just don't want to admit you are being unkind to other posters. All I did was state the simple fact that this thread was started to vent feelings of dissappointment. You can most certainly post whenever and however you want dear, but I think you are really the only one who is coming off badly.

WOAH WOAH!! I am the OP and I never said the word DISGUSTED. Where did that come from?:hippie:

I'm sorry, but did you just call me a liar? Because we ARE saving $1,600.00 with the Disney Visa Free Dining Code this December. Our original cost for our 8 night stay at All-Star Movies with two connecting rooms for 2 adults and five kids (notice we have two connecting rooms, we aren't "jamming" anybody in anywhere) with 8 day base tickets and the basic dining was about $4,700.00. With the Disney Visa Free Dining Code our total is right at $3,100.00. I'm no math genius, but I can subtract 3,100 from 4,700 and that comes up to a $1,600.00 savings.

I called Guest Relations two days ago when the "buy 4 get 3 free" rumor popped up and priced out a trip for May 8 - 16 at All-Star Movies for 8 nights with 8 day base tickets and basic dining they quoted me $5,180.00. I called last night to get a quote with the new "deal" and they quoted me a total price of $4,657.00. That would mean the total savings with the new "deal" for a May trip for our family would be $523.00.

Once again, I'm not putting down this new "deal," afterall a discount is a discount. I'm sure that this will make it possible for a lot of people to go to WDW, who otherwise would not be going. And if you have one or two kids and only stay deluxe, this can be a truly outstanding deal. All I said was free dining is the best "deal" for many people, in fact much better than the "buy 4 get 3 free" deal. Why are some people getting so crazy upset because this may not be the best deal for everybody?:confused3
