SOOOO bummed as we have a family trip and my 3 kids who are now in their mid-late 20's were so excited to go back to BB in April. I'm shocked they are closing again so soon. I thought we were good to go in April as they just reopened in Nov. Of all the parks and fun things we are going to do, they were most excited about BB. I just hate they gave such short notice about this. We used to know about the waterpark closing dates so much farther in advance, and I believe they were around the same time of year for each one. I realize they probably don't have the staff to have both open like they used to do at Spring Break, but feel BB should be open longer than 4 months after being closed for so long!!!!

Not me!!

I was hankering for TL to open (my preference).

But I am sorry for your family!

Will they ever keep them both open at the same time again?

I am disappointed as well. Our boys were really looking forward to going there. It’s been years since we have been to BB and I thought we were safe to go for our early April trip so I added the Water and Sports to our tickets. If I had known BB was closed I wouldn’t have upgraded since we did TL in early November 2022. Ugg.

And this is why we dropped the Water Park option from our AP. Without both parks open throughout the warmer months I'd rather put my money elsewhere.
This is why I didn’t add it s well😕 We are staying at YC so we will just take advantage of SAB. My mom has been dying to go back to BB for hers but every time we go, it’s closed! I’d been hopeful both would be open for our trip this fall but figures, another trip without BB🙄

Who knows what will happen by the fall!?

You might just luck out.

I must admit, I’m super glad that TL is opening instead because I much prefer it, but I’m pretty surprised that BB is closing at the same time.
This is my exact thought process as well.

The only thing I can think of is much like Hagrida at UOR delaying and or finishing Hurricane clean up.

I much prefer TL but I'm sorry for the folks who prefer BB! I don't like the rotating schedule but I get the necessity.

With the AP, the waterpark day tickets are cheaper than I thought they would be, maybe $50? I thought about doing this on my upcoming trip.

Since they changed the offering since you bought I imagine you can have that removed from your ticket before you go if you want.

Yes, it was quite the bummer to not have BB available last year so we dropped the add on this year. We prefer BB for many reasons. They learned a lot from TL and fixed many of the misses when they built BB. I love the lush design of TL but for fun it's blah other than wave pool. But again we don't spend that long in there so we opt for the better slides at BB.

When they announced BB opening I almost had ours upgraded ..... SO GLAD I HESITATED! I would have been FUMING.

Typically would be in the summer months.
I think it used to be around 60/40. They would close each park for about 10 weeks each for maintenance in the winter (about Nov 1 though mid March), but both were open the rest of the year.

Oh no! Hopefully it will be back open by August - we have two young children and the BB play area options look better for younger ones 😔
Who knows at this point since they are not doing this for maintenance reasons alone. My guess, if they can hire they would hope to have both open this summer.

TOTALLY agree that the BB play area for toddlers and primary age group is VOLUMES better at BB. They learned from TL mistakes. When TL opened the kiddie area was literally about 3 small things in a very tiny spot. Was awful. They did some bulldozing and expanded it but unfortunately it is really just in middle of main pathway, unprotected and to me chaos. BB is awesome, they sectioned it off, it's own bathrooms and everything else you need. The next step up is across the bridge and equally sectioned off on it's own space. Well thought out.

Word on the CM street is they cant staff both at the same time currently.
THIS^

In Florida they are actively advertising (radio, billboards) for Lifeguards, Culinary, Bus Drivers & More. The two spots they seem to have trouble filling that there is need is Lifeguards (job fair for it) and Culinary (bonuses).

I think you are spot on. There is not enough staff. Yes, they just let 7,000 folks go to save $$$ but having both waterparks open means increased costs for the bottom line. We booked at the Rivera in January to be on the gondola lines. (Grand Floridan is our home resort.) The gondolas were down for maintenance the entire time we were there (seven days). There was no mention until we arrived. We always stay on the monorail and were so looking forward to this experience BUT we spend the week riding the busses. We kindly mentioned this matter and got the deer in the headlights look. I understand the need for maintenance but I know for sure we would have changed our plans. Guests should have been told prior as you know this maintenance was not scheduled to happen last minute.

The skyliner closure in January was announced several months ago. I knew about it and I haven't been to WDW since 2019. Sorry you didn't know in advance, but it was listed on the Riviera's WDW website page.

Wasn’t that refurbishment announced like 6 months in advance?
