OK, we, DH and me eat out way too much!!! It's gotten to the point where eating out is not a "treat" anymore. Problem is I hate to cook, kids are grown and are hardly home any more, so why bother?

We just remodeled our kitchen, so I have this brand new kitchen that I don't even use (DH is not real happy about that). Why did we remodel our kitchen, you ask? To make it look nice!

Anyone else eat out a lot?

we eat out a lot. I really don't know how to cook. I am cooking tonight and dreading it. I hate to grocery shop. I go and just blank out, and come home with desserts, candy, dog food, and toliet paper, and a 80s greatest hits CD....nothing for dinner. :guilty:

We eat out almost every day. However, we did eat at home during the hurricane.

I used to eat out a lot but stopped because of the $$$$ I was spending. I also found that, after eating out so much, "real" food just didn't taste good to me anymore. And that's sad. Even if you *try* to eat healthy, they put so much sodium in the food that your taste buds get all whacked out. Then when you eat normal food, it just tastes BLAH!!! And then you want to eat out more.

I know that it seems a nuisance to cook for two, but I would love to be able to do that. Right now, I have two kids at home and I'm cooking for 4 and needing leftovers for lunch. I feel like I cook for a small army every night. Get some cookbooks (try Rachael Ray--all her stuff is pretty quick and easy). But I warn you--you're gonna need to wean your taste buds!

:rotfl2: I'm not making fun of you, you just made me lol!

my family is living proof you can live off of wendys and taco bell were wendy addicted and im in love with those chicken strips!

Hardly ever eat out, luckily for me my DH loves to cook! :)

I grew up in a family like that. Ironically, my mother was a SAHM, but she wasn't a cook. We would probably eat out 5 nights a week! It's amazing I wasn't obese when I look back at the amount of McDonald's and other takeout I was eating.

So now, I really don't enjoy going out to eat too much. I recommend Rachel Ray recipes to people looking for stuff to make that's easy, quick, healthy, and tasty!

Now that our youngest has gone to college DH and I are eating out or getting take out about 4 times a week. I just can't seem to get used to cooking for two. When DS was still home I had to cook for 5, he ate as much as 3 people!

We didn't go out to eat all summer long because the traffic here on the Cape and crowds in the restaurants just isn't worth it. We go out a couple of times a week in the winter and get take out a couple of times and it seems I cook a lot of meals too!
Lately, we've been eating out at the North End in Boston once a week...Yummy!

Never, unless I'm on vacation. I hate going to restaurants alone. And the prices! And the portion sizes! Ouch!

We eat out A LOT, I have full intentions in cooking and I order tons of groceries to be delivered to the house but then I don't feel like cooking and we end up eating out. But to make things fair for discussion sake, we probably eat out and cook about equally.

<-----------------sheepishly raises her hand and says "Us" sigh...I so know what you mean about it not being a treat anymore. Both DH and I work full time, and we have 4 kids, ages 10,9,6 and 2. I do not enjoy cooking, and when we get home afterwork or afterschool activies it is too late to be trying to cook anyways.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That is about the same thing that I do at the grocery store..sans the dog food! HAHA I detest being there, and I get thru about 3 aisles, and then I decide I dont really need anything and I start sipping thru aisles without even thinking just to get out of there!! SHame on me, yes I know, but I cant help it.

Uh, that would be US! I work full time and am in graduate school. I try really hard to cook during the week, but some nights I just don't have the energy! I am cooking tonight, however. I really miss being a SAHM sometimes...maybe when I finish grad school (and pay those hefty student loans!).

We almost never eat out. Maybe once every 6 weeks or two months, not often at all. It is a treat for us to eat out!

yes. we eat out a lot... especially in the summer months....
too hot to cook.... plus no clean up afterwards....

I am so glad we're not the only ones! We're to the point where we're so jaded by restaurant food -- it has to be really spectacular for us to consider it a treat.

And it really takes a bite out of our wallets.

What's worse, I'm a full-time grad student and a SAHM, so there's really no excuse for me not to cook. Other than the fact that I HATE cooking and we seem to never have any clean dishes in the house. But then, how do our dishes get dirty if we never cook? :confused3

I try to limit my eat outs to the weekend-- but then it can be like every meal!

We're trying to be more thrifty, though, so we're trying to eat out only Friday and Saturday dinners. And sometimes Sunday lunch.

I've been on a little cooking jag lately. I think it's a direct result of eating out almost every night this summer. DH has been working the craziest hours and I just wasn't up to cooking. I must admit, I do feel better when I've been eating home-cooked meals more.

Friends of ours just opened a restaurant and of course we needed to support their new business! (That's what I'm telling myself, anyhow).
