Who else doesn't want to work anymore?

I had a job that made me wish for a car accident on my way there. I was hoping someone would just rearend me so I could call in and say I had an accident and wouldn't be in.

I finally quit (it was a beautiful thing) and now I'm working another job that pays tons more and is a lot easier to take. I am waiting for the day I can be a Stay At Home Mom. Then I worry about sitting home day after day. I did that between jobs for about a month and I cleaned everything there was to clean and washed every piece of clothing. Then I was bored!!

I like my job.. most of the time. It’s the people I work with that sometimes get the best of me. There is this one girl straight out of college here with this attitude of “this is not my job”. We are a small office of 6 so when one person acts this way it really gets annoying. Surprisingly I’m the only one this is bugging, everyone ales is just glad that she came to work:rolleyes:

I don’t know if I could stay home all day though. I think it would get boring after a little while. I would like to choose and pick the days I work, though. If I wake up and feel like working today then I go into the office, if I don’t then I just stay home…. Maybe when I get rich and famous:teeth:

I have what I admit is a terrific job and I make more money than I ever dreamed I would. DH is a SAHD and I am very envious. If we switched places, he couldn't make 1/6 of what I make, so I am stuck working for the long haul. I've been at this job for 18+ years; I know I should be very grateful, but the idea of 19 more sometimes makes me ill.

I really don't like my job much anymore...I'm hoping that my time in school will fly by so I can get out of my job.

I'm with ya Karen. I would love to be a stay at home Mom. The two weeks I was off due to surgery was great. I got so much done (after I was feeling better) and just enjoyed being home and not so stressed out. Sometimes I just feel like a I need a very long break from the workplace :faint:

Unfortunately I'm a single mom too! Darn it!

I'm with you, Karen!!!! After working all those years, most recently for a hospital 8 years, one day I quit my job to return to school. After 1 1/2 years in school, I need the money!!!! Left school, moved to another state, need to look for a job. I'm a single mom also...widowed. I still have NO desire to return to work!! It's a four letter word!!!!  But I've reached the point that I MUST work! :( It didn't help that my dad thought we would marry the knight in shining armour. Didn't think his three girls needed college. Well, a secretarial school wasn't any help! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...note to self...son will go DIRECTLY to college after high school! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Sorry...venting a bit. LOL! :teeth:

Work has definately been stressful since the beginning of the yr
We're short staffed and started doing projects we havent been doing for the past 5yrs due to a new boss coming onboard.

I want your job! I'm tired of working for a dittly squat salary. (I'm sure I butchered that spelling...LOL!) At least you get a decent salary for your hours away from home. :teeth:

I've done BOTH and can't figure out which I like better..

Job=more money to do things=no time to do them..

SAHM(wife)=lots of time=no MONEY to do things....

It's a vicious circle!!

Obviously the lottery is the answer...but it just ain't happening!!

Good timing on this thread. Just yesterday I tore open my retirement fund statement and asked DH if my balance was enough for me to retire. ;) He said it was not even close.

I'm not worried though. TN gets Powerball Lottery in a couple more weeks. I'm sure to win. :Pinkbounc

This post is very timely for me. We are moving from Long Island to Las Vegas in July so I finally get to leave my job of 17 years! Knowing that I am soon leaving is making me very antsy. I can't wait to be a SAHM with my 2 DDs. Just this morning my youngest DD was asking me not to go to work. I won't miss my job but I will miss most of the people I work with.

When I lost the full-time job I held for 11 years last year, I couldn't have been happier. I didn't think I wanted to work anymore.

But after the summer when DS went back to school, I was feeling bored. And then I start wanting things like a crystal chandelier for our dining room and a new set of pans. DH’s salary is enough to live on, but it doesn’t leave much for extras like that, so I found a part-time job.

For me, it’s the perfect solution. I’m out of the house 3 or 4 days a week while DS is in school, and I’ve got pocket money to spare.

It would have been nice to be home while he was still a baby/toddler, but I can't change what's passed. Now while he’s in school, I feel the need to get out and earn some cash during some of those hours.

I found leaving DS a killer. Those big eyes looking up at me and asking me to pick him up as soon as school was over like most of the kids moms do. :( I had to tell him that it was his time to play with his friends. No kids his age were in our neighborhood, this was it. He was pretty much okay with it after that. Work is an unending viscious cycle. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Perhaps if I had a real "career" with a real "salary," I would feel differently. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Venting again! LOL!

I like my sister's thinking. She went back to college and got her degree at 40. (She was married at the time so still had an income...lucky stiff!) She now has a great job with a great company and has quite a large life insurance policy. More money than I'll ever see in my lifetime! She set up her will so that her son will see the money ONLY after he gets his college degree! :teeth: No degree...no money. :teeth:

YES!!!! I'm ready to be a stay at home mom. I can't wait for the day that I can get up and take care of what I need to do and what needs to be done in the house and getting the kids where they need to be instead of constantly having to ask someone to take my kids places. My DH agrees, we're just waiting for the right time and for his "permanent" employment status.
