Who does the trip planning in your house?

I'm here to represent the dads that do all the planning. Like most of you my spouse thinks I am crazy, but she is the first to admit she loves not waiting in any lines and loves that we have dinner at all the best places. I have found all the planning has become more like a hobby for me. I guess that's why I have planned about 10 other Disney vacations for friends and family-complete with flash cards :rotfl2:

Your post reminds me of myself. I do all the planning and love it. I think I could be a travel agent; and love my job!

In my house it's mostly the daughter...me! Actually I lied, it's me and my mother. She usually does reservations, transportation and plane tickets. I take care of the ADR's since I know what's good and what everyone will like. I also take care of the park tickets, and I make the schedule. I don't make a detailed schedule, I just put in our ADR's, and put what park we'll do in the morning and what park at night (which I try to do based on avoiding EMH as much as possible). I'm also good at directing everyone around the parks since I know my way around every park like I do my house.

It's all me; I am the planner in our house. I'm the epitome of 'type A,' and dh is the epitome of 'type B' !! ;)

Oh yea, it :teeth: , and that's the way I like it. I just tell my DH when, and for how long. When I try to get any preferences from him. he just says "sure, whatever) I guess I try to do the planning for all of us, thinking that I can plan so carefully that nothing can be less than perfect! :wizard: It sounds like I'm not the only one who is addicted to the planning, and it's made even worse by having this board to come to! :thumbsup2

Mom does all the planning with input from Dad. I absolutely love it! Especially since our Sept. trip is a surprise

It's me! I love this stuff! The last trip we took with our extended family, I held a planning meeting complete with flip chart (well, drawing paper attached to my child's blackboard) and handouts. Ha ha ha! My family still kids me about it!

I think what makes it worthwhile to me is that I know by planning the details and educating myself on the best touring strategies, I can make the trip more pleasurable for my family. The first trip I took with my husband when we were first married was his first time to visit WDW. He had no idea that it would be so great. I think he thought it would be like Cedar Point or Six Flags. Ha! I still cherish the memories of that trip and how he was awed over everything! Now he loves it as much as me, and we save our money to go every two years. He knows that I love planning our trips. The only part he does is make the campground reservations.

Now our focus is making sure that our daughter has a wonderful, magical time at WDW. I love seeing that "Disney magic" look in her eyes and knowing that I have done the best I can to make it happen for her.

Usually it's me. My dh just doesn't feel the magic. He had been to Disney about 6 times and he says that enough for him (so sad). So I am going with my dd's. I am letting them plan because I have been so may times. I just like to go with the flow. As long as it's at Disney, I'm there!

usually i do the planning. this time for our trip in 07 i'm getting everyone involved. there are 14 people going and there is no way i'm doing this myself

This Disney Dad does all the research, all the planning, all the ADRs, everything! I set each day's agenda and plan every meal! I want my DW and DKs to just enjoy all the magic with no worries!

Both of us and lots of imput from DSons :sunny:

Me!! :bounce:

I even planned our high school marching band trip this Fall! :cool1:

I guess it really depends on who has the most Disney Fever. In this house, that would be me.

I'm the official trip planner in our house. :thumbsup2 My DH and MIL and FIL leave all the planning up to me--mostly because I'm so organized :rotfl2: and live to plan everything to the minute detail. :lmao: Seriously, I do love to plan-that's part of the fun. And I'm very detail oriented.

She's become a pro at getting the best deal on everything. I just point at the calendar and say "Make it so."

Steve

This Disney daughter has been the trip planner since she was 11 years old!!! For first trip I immersed myself in every guide book and video I could get my hands on (this was pre Internet popularity, so if I had the DIS back then I would have been out of control!! :)). My parents put me in charge of our entire plan and to their credit listened to everything I told them! Since then there's not even a question of who plans. :)

My DFiance learned very early to say "you plan and when we get there tell me what we're doing." :)

I do most of the planning, although DH checks out the boards some & does give his opinion about ADR's & park plans. DD12 has only made a few requests Breakfast @ Crystal Palace on first full day a WDW & to get to ride Teacups on this trip (we missed them on the last trip-due to rain & traveling with my sister & her family). :grouphug:

I on the other hand could eat & sleep Disney. We have a long wait for our next trip 9/07, but as an over planner I will have things TOTALLY planned out. Down to our exact plan of attack for each park. I usually know exactly where & what I intend to eat. (I do this all the time. Plan out meals for a month at a time) I don't do unorganized well, but can deal with changes to the plan if need be.

I just learned that DD is nicknamed Disney at school, so I guess she discusses it at school more than home. Granted half her tshirts have Tink on them. princess:

I think my husband used to think that our trips magically planned themselves, until last month when I had him call DL to get our Fantasmic dessert seating. I had to actually talk to him on my cell phone while he made the plans, even after I gave him explicit instructions. He was so clueless. :rotfl:

But DH gives his input & gets the airplane arragements taken care of.

The ds's each get one dining request.

But I am the one doing the back and forth with our wonderful travel agent, handling the payments, & making the schedule.

And I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well this is our first trip to Disney World and guess who's doing all the planning? that's right me, the middle child. I found all the information for our trip, gave it to my dad so he could book it through AAA, I bothered my mom to sit down with me to pick ADRs because I am worried about her getting sick (she gets sick if she doesn't eat often--hypothyroidism), planned what park we are going and on which day, & in what order we do each park (i.e. MK--by the lands) its overwhelming and I think I am the only one in my family who is capable (besides my older sister but she is away@ college)...now with only 23 more days to go, I am planning on what clothes needs to bought and packed...can't wait!
