Who does Britney think she is kidding?

It's on NBC right now. I'm not sure why they felt the need to air it two nights in a row on the same channel! Sheesh!!

because she is so interesting............blech

can't believe they would waste TV airspace on this girl and her wish for privacy not once, but twice......how's that for privacy? let's show it all over again for a few other million viewers

She thinks this is all happening because she doesn't take BS from anyone. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: She is completely delusional.

I hope, for her children's sake, she hits the rock bottom she is racing towards soon and turns things around. Poor kids.

From what I can see from the santimonius press she isn't racing she is being pushed, as I said before the press has shown it will not be happy with less than her slitting her wrists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh please. Who held a gun to her head and forced her to go on Dateline? People who really want privacy...don't ask to be interviewed on national TV.

ITA ::yes::

There are plenty of A-listers who manage to stay out of the tabloids for the most part (when they are not making sceduled public appearances)... and it's because they don't go looking to be snapped.

I'm pretty sure that many of these 'harrassed' celebrities actually phone up the paparazzi themselves to tell them where they will be ahead of time.

I think if Britney showed a little humility and accepted that she isn't perfect people wouldn't be harping on her so much.

Everything is ALWAYS everyone elses fault. The press, the media, the paprazzi, oh and America?? What was that all about when she said, "that's America." What?? What does that even mean??

She's not willing to admit she's made any mistakes as a parent and that she is learning. Nope, it's all excuses.

I also saw the interview Matt Lauer did with her in 1999 and what I was struck by was her voice. Did anyone else notice that in 1999, her accent was softer, sweeter? Now it's almost like she's putting on this white trash display on purpose, and I wonder if some of poor use of grammar was a deliberate attempt to say "Hey, everyone, I'm just a regular, down home, kinda gal, and if you don't like it you can K*** My A**" I think the gum-chewing was very deliberate on her part, I think she knew what she was doing. The alternative is for me to think that some one can be that stupid and that rich in America and I don't want to think that.

I am no fan of the press. I know from that experience though, that if you lay low they move on to someone/something else. If you keep yourself in the spotlight, they will follow and trash you. Sorry but, she has been in the business long enough to know that. She has the ability to improve the press situation and she doesn't, so I have zero sympathy when it comes to that.

Were I do feel sympathy is for her emotional state and development. I think in some warped way Britney believes that her, "I don't care what anyone thinks of me" attitude portrays to the rest of us that she is an adult. Sadly, I think there was a distinct lack of strong adult role models in her life. Someday I hope she learns, until then she will continue to be her own worst enemy. It's up to her, not the press, to improve her situation.

'Smacking' her gum was so wrong. Poor girl, wouldn't you think that someone would try to help her look a bit more presentable for a national interview :confused3

If I ever announce on national TV that I love my husband because "he is simple," I want you people to slap duct tape over my mouth and carry me off-camera. I hereby authorize you to do whatever it takes.

As Simba's Mom stated, her accent and voice has changed a lot over the last few years...I have noticed that Justin Timberlake sort of has the same accent... :confused3

On the Today show on Fri., Matt Lauer was talking to these 3 people from some MTV show about the Brittney interview. One of the 3 said "Why didn't you make her get rid of the gum?" and Matt stated that he asked her to pitch it, but she said no and insisted on chewing it.

At least Matt tried!!!!

BTW -- the MTV people were more concerned about Matt's going sock-less for the interview than w/what Brittney had to say. Although, they did laugh over the fact that Brittney used air quotes when describing her marriage as awesome to Matt!

This is what I thought was the case-that this is all part of her conscious attempt to portray herself as "regular folk" (or something). I think she knows darn right well what she's doing. Like my grandmother used to say, "She's dumb-like a fox".

Thank you. I read the whole interview. I would love to watch it on video, though, so that I could see her facial expressions, gum smacking, etc. I know that would add so much more to it. I will admit that she certainly did say "like" too much. I noticed that just reading the interview. I can't imagine how bad it must have sounded in the interview live.

If you still want to see the interview, you can find it here ---> http://www.youtube.com/results?search=britney+dateline&search_type=search_videos It is in 4 parts on youtube.com.

I have also read that she did her own makeup and hair. That's probably why her false eyelash didn't stay in its place.

Was this posted already? Sorry if it was, but a reported on MSN said, the two bald men in her shirt needed to go. :rotfl: thought it was funny.

Yes it was painful. It was kind of sad to see someone, at 24, not be able to string together a single original thought. 80% of what came out of her mouth was simple cliche phrases. Mind you, these were in answer to Lauer's pointed questions. They were clear, direct, open ended questions, and he couldn't beat a real answer out of her with a stick.
Her quasi answers were littered with finger quotes emphasizing her lack of acumen, opinion or insight. She reminded me of someone trying to fudge her way through a book report. Britney clearly hasn't read the book on living life as a savy, articulate, mature figure. Did she honestly believe that Americans beyond her fan club would buy it? Did she consult with anyone before she made this decison? You would think someone would have cautioned her against this; or at least coached her; or dressed her.

Having said that, I wish her well. I do believe that she loves her husband and would give her life for her baby(ies). I should give her some slack and remember that at 24, I was not quite ready to be a mother and certainly wasn't equipped to be in the limelight. But since she has arrived at this place in her life, it's time to step up to the plate. I know there are many, many bad mothers, bad wives, and generally bad women running around and in comparison, she's not a wretched person. But please don't put yourself out there looking for symapthy and respect unless you can do it in a respectable, dignified way. I'm just not convinced. Take some responsibility for your mistakes. Take responsibility for your life. BE responsible for your child.

My thoughts exactly! I remember watching the first episode of her reality show and thinking, "Oh my Lord - she is just a wealthier, famous version of the 15 year olds I have in class every day." She has the emotional maturity of a middle school kid. It's sad that there are now children in the mix. She looked and sounded awful.
