Who can tell me about Manchester?

A group of us (all girls) are heading to Manchester for a weekend to celebrate my younger sister's 30th Birthday in a few weeks.

None of us have ever been - looking for any info on restaurants, pubs, clubs etc. (Bearing in mind we are all 30 something - nothing too outrageous!!!!!!!!!!)

Tiger Tiger is a great place. It is a late bar. It's really huge, with three differnt floors. I'm sure you would love it.

We are off to Manchester in January - Mandy sent me the Trafford Centre map too - excellent shops

Manchester has a really nice Hard Rock Cafe (next to Tiger Tiger) which is worth a visit. Both of these are in 'The Printworks' which also has an Old Orleans, Norwegian Blue, a cinema, an IMAX cinema and various other bars and resteraunts.

There is always a HUGE continental market in Dec in Albert Square and St Annes Square - hot Gluwein and allsorts of amazing food and gifts are available.

For designer gear there is Selfridges and Harvey Nicks and many others.

For fun there is an ENORMOUS big wheel (used to be in Paris) situated near Hard Rock (you can't miss it!!). It's there til end of Feb - This costs £5.00 per person or £20 for a private gondola.

Starlight Express will be on at the Palace Theatre - you could also check the Opera House, MEN arena, Royal Exchange Theatre, Bridgewater Hall to see what is on. There are several comedy clubs....if you are going after Christmas Cirque Du Soleil will be at the Trafford Centre.

Manchester was featured in the Holiday programme - did you see it? I only saw it by chance so could not give advance notice but hoped you may have seen it?

I have lived in Manchester for 3 years but I said to my boyfriend after watching the holiday programme that we will have to pretend to be tourists for the weekend because we've never done most of the things that the city has to offer even though it's on our doorstep!

We have a lot planned.....drinking, eating, getting our nails done, shopping, more drinking, eating, dancing...............oh and drinking!!!!
