I almost took my dad to Epic today but decided not to as he was sick before coming down with the heat we decided it would be better just to wait till he gets cooler out since he is 65 Plus. I forgot to keep track of wait times earlier today but I just looked today in big oof. Some weather went through so every outdoor ride is closed and a lot of rides are 180 plus minutes

Is early entry worth it? Debating on switching hotels to Helios gain early entry to Epic & for possible mid-day break with the July heat. Already have express in place. Just was wondering if logistics wise this makes more sense. DH loves his afternoon nap time. LOL.

Early entry is definitely worth it if you're a morning person. The temperature is cooler. Fewer people in the park.

Going to Epic next month. My mind was set that it would be busy so we would ride what we could ride. But I’m now thinking about buying the express passes. Whats everyone’s thoughts on them. Worth £250 each?

What’s everyone think Labor Day will be like? We are doing an adult trip that weekend at Disney, and me and my wife are staying over another night. Thinking of doing Epic, but worried that the crowd will be insane.

Yes! It was very nice to just walk into the shows and rides.

I would be more worried about a potential hurricane.

I don't think that's realistic especially as we're talking months in advance. I say that having been down in Disney and Universal during Irma. I think you can say if you don't want to deal with a potential hurricane avoid ALL months where that is more likely including several weeks before and after and you're left with a very short timeframe but to give advice about Labor Day weekend in June and being more worried about a hurricane is just overkill here and unnecessary scare tactic.

It's not a scare tactic. Just putting it out there so people can choose reservations that are refundable.

We did Helios, it is nice for a quick break (we went back to the room yesterday during the rain storm and waited it out from our theme park view). With that said, I'd argue it's a disadvantage during early entry. Until you get to Super Marioworld, everyone from the front is already in. If they keep opening up Battle at the Ministry with early entry though, then you have the advantage. We did one day entering Mario world and it was kind of a bust (mine kart was down - seems to always be down) and bowsers filled up fast (stardust was also down this day, so really it was bowsers or the monster universe rides).

The second day we went for Battle at the Ministry. Two things with this, people from the front, still were beating us from Helios there (they were sprinting - and honestly, Universal needs to shut this down before someone gets hurt or people fight in the morning as we witnessed multiple people get bumped by runners, and also multiple people arguing with each other because their kids sprinted ahead of everyone and then all the adults tried to push through the crowds to catch up to them in the line).

It also seemed like anyone could have entered. I wasn't at the front (so I don't know what it looked like), but to get on all the other rides during early entry and to enter those portals, you had to show your room key. For Harry Potter area, it appeared to be open season and they weren't checking anyones room keys. Now I don't know if they stopped people further up from going that way (maybe someone who has come that way, can tell us), but it seemed like even people without early entry were just running that way to get into that portal.

Just got home...Did 1 day with express...and 1 day without express. On the day with it, we had everything done except mine kart madness by 3:30 (thats with eating lunch, and doing both shows). On the day without it, we still did a good bit, but by 1PM lines were more or less over 90 minutes for pretty much every ride except Monsters Unchained and curse of the werewolf. Even fyre drill was pushing 90 minutes. Then the thunderstorms came and basically shut down the whole park for 2.5 hours. If you're going during rainy season, I would get it just because of that factor. A few storms and your day will be wiped out, but it could at least be salvaged with express during the non rain periods. They actually were giving 50% refunds yesterday due to all the ride downtimes and storms (we personally didn't ask for one, but several people we talked to that night said they went to guest services and received them, and I saw other people in the facebook group saying the same thing.

In case there's a confusion between the side doors at Nintendo World, the door I mentioned in post #3233 is within the wall of the portal. It should be opened during early entry since not everyone can use the escalators. That entrance will lead you to the ground floor of SNW.

Found a picture online. The rectangular structure near the rim of the portal is the door.

Sorry for being repetitive. I've explained the location to my children and other relatives and they all missed it.
Just got home, and they would only let people through this door in a mobility device or with a stroller. They weren't even letting other family members through this area with people in mobility devices during early entry. There is a separate area though between the portal opening and the store that you can enter through on the ground level the rest of the day, if you walk past the mario fountain just outside the land. I did not see it open for early entry (since they have to check your hotel key), but we used that the rest of the trip with success entering the land.

Thank you both! Yeah, he has super long legs and thick thighs...his calves were too thick, feet too big to fit in Avatar. Plus the broad shoulders and his stomach. Ugh. I really want to see Nintendo World but not sure it, alone, is worth the price of admission.
Wanted to provide an update. For reference I am 6'1 and 305lbs currently. The only ride, I could not get on was Stardust Racers. I was able to get on everything else, and honestly felt comfortable on all of them (except curse of the werewolf, because my knees were hitting the front (size wise, I was fine, but my knees hurt...thankfully its very short). I do think they will struggle getting onto stardust, Hiccups roller coaster (although they apparently added a more big person friendly cart to the back of their carts), and curse of the werewolf will be tough due to the broad shoulders.

Thank you for the update. That is an annoying change, especially when there are so few strollers and mobility devices at Epic.

My goodness HP sounds like Black Friday vibes. No thank you. Given what you said we'll definitely start with Dark Universe instead. Appreciate you!

Don't think they were saying there will be. But it is peak hurricane season at that time so it'd absolutely realistic there could be one, no one is saying their def will be. Everyone who travels then should keep an eye on the tropics when it's close to travel time.

I can under(stand; ETA) talking about refundable (though that was not in your initial comment). They are already going to Disney and just asking about their additional day potentially going to Epic and concerns over crowds so presumably they've already considered what happens if they need to cancel a trip with already having Disney as their main reason for going.

Both Disney and Universal have hurricane policies in place. Airlines have their own weather/impact policies. We flew SWA and were covered under their policy and was able to add a day with no change in airfare.

If they were asking about next weekend with a hurricane on the horizon set to impact central Orlando (or that area itself)I would say that's more when your advice is realistic though again they already had the Disney portion of the trip planned so the plans are already there.

That's not what I was saying about the realistic part as in saying that a hurricane isn't realistic for that time period, that's why I mentioned being there during Irma. My realistic part was discussing it in June as if a hurricane is there right now. The PP is already set to be down there for a Disney trip, they are asking about an add on day to Epic and crowd levels. If someone's main concern would be a hurricane the advice should and actually would be to avoid going to Orlando (and surrounding parts prone to them) during that time period of hurricane season (and IMO adding several weeks ahead and several weeks beyond the official season time period). People do indeed travel outside the season in order to significantly lessen their chances.

But we're talking about several months in advance on an existing Disney trip. You can't predict that far in advance and if you're already set to be in that area you're already set to be in that area. If Universal was about to be impacted by a hurricane they have a hurricane policy in place for it just as Disney does. Like I said in my above comment if this was a question about next weekend with a hurricane anticipated to impact that area different story.

That's interesting because people could have some mobility issues but not need an actual device. My step-father-in-law for example doesn't use a mobility device but tends to need assistance for stairs, escalators at times, small curbs even especially after his stroke last year, that combined with his type 2 diabetes has made certain things harder for him.

I can understand if they were getting too many people through for early entry but going for visuals when we these days actively try to implement policies that don't use visuals to make assumptions about people is an odd choice
