I'm curious. Anybody know who is credited with coming up with the idea of the Disney Vacation Club?

Given that timeshares were growing up all over so timesharing was not a Disney Idea - I'm not so sure it was so much of an "idea" as a product development. Likely by a team of people.

Deb & Bill.... You guys are great! Thanks for coming up with the idea of DVC. It has created a lot of joy for my family.

All I ever did in my worthless life is invent television. :p

Well... this doesn't answer your question exactly, but I found this biography of Diana G. Ibarra . She didn't come up with the idea, but some influence over the design of the first resort.

An excerpt...

" Mrs. Ibarra was a lead member of the design team responsible for directing an 8 person team through design management, development and construction contract administration of Disney’s Vacation Club Resort, a 504 suite vacation ownership complex supported by a 14,000 square foot Preview Center and a 17,000 square foot Clubhouse, constructed within the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. She provided full time site supervision for one year during construction and subsequently completed the Phase II and Phase III documents.

Disney Vacation Club Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida
Phase I Preview Sales Center, Clubhouse, Phase I Villas and Maintenance Center
Phase II and III Villas"

And no one ever thanks me for inventing the Internet -- oh wait, that was Al Gore. ;)

It's a very interesting question to think about who said, "Hey, let's building an ownership property at WDW." Sure hope they got a Christmas bonus. ;)
