So there are tons of user names and photos that I recognize around the DIS but I realized I don't really "know" that many of you! The board is a pretty big place and I'm sure this has been done before at some point, but I thought it might be kind of fun to do a getting-to-know-you sort of post!

So... who are you?

I'll go first!:goodvibes

I'm autumnpalm and I am a university student. I have changed majors so many times I've almost lost count but I am currently working on my degree in social work and am planning on applying for my graduate degree in occupational therapy once I'm finished! My dream is to work with kids with chronic/terminal illnesses and disabilities.

Outside of school, I am a ballet dancer! I was quite serious about it growing up-I attended a residential school- and contemplated pursuing it but I am absolutely thrilled with what I'm doing. I do love to dance though, and I hope to do it as long as I am able to. There is just nothing quite like it. I've never really done many other dance forms but I would love to try salsa or swing or something!

I am pretty involved with my church, I teach Sunday School and help out during the early service with a separate service for developmentally delayed adults. It keeps me pretty busy and sometimes I get a little worn out but I do really enjoy it. When I am not busy, I spend most of my time watching reality TV (shh!), planning upcoming Disney vacations, spending time with my lovely dog, reading biographies and of course, napping! My life has been complicated with a few medical problems but luckily I have a wonderful family and friends who have been nothing less than amazing! My mom really is my best friend in the world and I love her to pieces.

I'm a pretty practical person and can also be quite impatient at times. I am trying to let go of my control-freak and perfectionist tendencies and embrace spontaneity and chaos a little more.:rotfl: I guess I'm kind of a work in progress!

Who's next?:flower3:

:wave2: Nice thread, OP!

As evidenced by my not-so-subtle username, I'm Shannon. I'm an undergrad as well, majoring in Molecular Biology, minor in Accounting. I'm on the pre-med track but inherited my love of accounting from my parents; hoping I can find a way to combine the two. ;) I'm a Florida native. I've lived in a few other states, from the North to the West to the Midwest, but nothing beats Florida to me. I plan on never leaving again. :cloud9:

I've been a Disney passholder since I was old enough to have one. One of the truly brainwashed, I am, and I do everything I can to share the bug with close friends and family. I have a very high success rate too. :thumbsup2

When I'm not studying, working or DISing, I'm a couponer and freebie-hunter. I play concert piano, but enjoy playing a handful of other instruments just for fun. I would love to tackle the saxophone and flute sometime in the future. I'm a healthy eater but would down a milkshake every day of my life if I could. I collect coffee mugs. My favorite tv shows are Cheers and The Office. I'm a pretty independent person so I don't have a boatload of friends, but the ones I do have are close, trustworthy, and worth their weight in gold. I consider myself to be a great listener and judge of character, with a sense of humor that isn't too shabby either. :hippie:

Wow, molecular biology! Impressive!:thumbsup2 I would absolutely love to live in Florida. I'm in Canada but am also an AP holder... think I'm a little brainwashed as well but I love it!:rotfl:

I am also a HUGE Office fan and I love your display pic. I am so happy for Pam and Jim!:goodvibes I went to see It's Complicated just because of John Krasinski and he was so great in it.:lovestruc

Oh John Krasinski...

I too, only saw It's Complicated for him. Glad to know I'm not the only one! :rotfl:

ETA: Your dog is adorable! I have two mini-dachshunds at home and miss them so much when I'm away at school.

Hi! :wave2:

I am married to a wonderful man. I have a 15 year old son from a previous marriage and my husband and I have an 8 year old daughter. I am a professional photographer trying to find my way through life and have found I absolutely LOVE photographing weddings.

I recently went back to school after graduating high school almost 20 years ago. I am a 37 year old freshman! I start my second semester next Tuesday. I started out as an Elementary Education major with my dual certification in Early Childhood. However, I have been working in the field since before I graduated high school. I love kids, but I don't love teaching. Photography is where my passion lies. So, this semester, I will be changing my major to Graphic Design.

PS - I forgot to add - I grew up in very rural Pennsylvania. Before I met my husband, I didn't venture too far away from home. Since we;ve been married, we have lived near Philly, in Minnesota, Virginia, North Carolina and Chicago. We are now back in my hometown. It can sometimes be a blessing and a curse to live so close to family. I don't have too many favorite TV shows. There isn't very much that holds my interest since Friends and ER have left. I LOVE music - almost anything except "crap"/hip hop. I am still very much into the '80's hair bands! I think that's about it. ;)

Nice to meet you!

Michelle :flower3:

 Shannon, autumnpalm, mvazuel!

I'm Emily, and I'm also an undergrad too! I'm a biology major intending to go to medical school. I'm just about to start my 6th semester. I am planning on graduating a semester early (Dec 2010) and then have the time to get ready for my MCATS, which is the exam to get in to a med school.

Outside of school, I love to travel and see new places. I'm always up for an adventure whatever it may be. I spend a quite a bit of my time with my dbf Ryan. We have been together for 3.5 years now, and now in the midst of figuring out our future together. :lovestruc

I also love to be in the outdoors, and I'm so very fortunate to be in a place where that is possible! From canyons, to mountains, and everything in between (except water) we pretty much have it here, and a part of me never wants to leave.

Glad to 'meet' you guys!

Ooh, I'm another undergrad! Majoring in History, minoring in Political Science and Sociology. Basically a social studies education degree without the education part, which is what my major was when I first started college.

I'm a mom to two wonderful doggies - a border collie and dachshund/pekingese. I love to read, but because I do so much for school, tv has become my go-to leisure activity.

I'd never been to Disney World before my honeymoon 1.5 years ago, but now I'm a DVC member and AP holder and just completed my fourth trip! :cool1:

Hi everyone!! :flower3:

I'm AshleyW, I'm 22 and live with my fiance and two adorable kitties in a condo. I work full time (8:30a-5p, M-F) and go to school full time (6p-9p M-Th). It stinks. I'm going to school at our local community college to get my RN. Right now I'm just taking the pre-requisites (there are a TON!) and I hope to start the Night/Weekend RN program next January. After I get my RN, I'd like to eventually get my BSN and MSN or ARNP to be a Nurse Practitioner. Let's see.. as far as a job goes, right now I work as a Quality Assurance Specialist for a relay call center. For those who haven't had the pleasure () of taking a relay call, it's a service for deaf/hard of hearing folks to make calls. Basically, I sit in my office all day and listen to everyone's phone calls to make sure they're doing their job correctly. If they're not, I get to yell at them. It's basically a glorified babysitter. :thumbsup2

What else.. my fiance & I are high school sweethearts. We met the first week of my freshman year (his soph year) in high school - I was in his sophomore level math class. We started dating on Christmas that year, 2001, and have been together ever since. :lovestruc We plan on getting married after I get my RN, which makes for a loooong engagement.

Outside of work, school and the fiance - I don't really have much time for a life. But, when I do get time, I'm a HUGE movie buff and I love essentially every kind of music. No joke. There's probably only a handful of songs that I don't enjoy. I also love traveling - especially to Disney, and also to see my parents in Clearwater, FL. Lastly, I'm a huuuuge Dallas Cowboys and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. :goodvibes

Nice to "meet" everyone!

Hi,

I'm Holly and i am a stay at home mommy to 3 great but rotten kids. I am also pregnant due in 4 weeks with our newest little girl. I feel like no day of my life is ever the same especially since my kids go from 10 to newborn.

I love to travel and try to get to Disney at least twice a year. I am trying hard to make my husband love it as much as I do but he just doesn't so I just recruit a team to go with me when I want to go.(Don't want to miss extra magic hours;)) We also love to just travel in general even though it is more of an adventure with all the kids.

My husband's name is Eric and he owns a plumbing company. I am blessed that he is able to work from home 2-3 days a week. So when things get crazy here we go to Daddy's office to visit. It's like a little field trip to the next room:laughing:.

Guess that's about it. It's great getting to know everyone.

Nice to "meet" everyone!

Wow Ashley, you sound a lot like me. I too, have a DFiance. Until recently we were on a "break" as he had to live full-time in NYC for his job but now he's back with minor business trips... blech. But we were high school sweethearts too, only we didn't going to the same high school :rotfl: we went to the same elementary school does that count? We've known each other since I was 2, he was 4 and I've been best friends with his sister.

Anyway, I'm in community college right now hoping to be an RN, also taking my pre-requisites... I agree there are a TON! How many are you taking? I have a minimum 45 credits to take but I am going to be taking 49, I'll explain in a moment on that. The program I hope to get into is very competetive. They only accept 100 students and on average just over 1,000 apply. Basically, I MUST have a 4.0. They even say on the application, if you get a B in any A&P class, you have to get teacher recommendation. The reason why I'm taking 49 credits is because it's a booster to take a foreign language for one full year so I have to take 12 French credits (it has to be the second language you took in high school), at least they can count toward my general education... I was thinking about chemistry  and I hate chemistry.

What a neat-o idea OP.

My name is Dayna and I'm 22. Currently, I'm a waitress and a student (see my PP on my student life). I usually work 10A-2P MTTF, 5-8 W, 9-5 Sa and 10-8 Su. Then I go to school on various nights and times over the week. I also go to the gym everyday for at least an hour. Typically it's 2ish-4PM on Mon & Fri, before work on Tues and Thurs, 1PM-4PM on Wed and after work on Sat and Sun. DF and I go to the gym together on Tues, Thurs, Sat and Sun. :) If I ever take a day off at the gym it's usually either Thurs or Sun as they're my busier days. I'm exhausted right now and I'm really trying to get some sleep but I can't... silly me drinking coffee so late but given this schedule, it's hard not to.

Anyway, I live at home with my mom as a poor college student. A lot of my money goes to school so it's just insanely cheaper to live rent-cheap, I give mom $200/month. DF and I are going traditional on the living situation so I really don't want to pay real rent, anything decent in Hillsboro is $900/month for a one bedroom and I've done roommates, never again! Stupid Nike and Intel driving up rent costs.

I'm honest, opinionated, outspoken, anything but laid-back (DF and I joke that "laid-back" is a nice way to say lazy/not giving a sh**), a shopaholic, a reader, an athlete. My gym is an atheltic club with many indoor and outdoor tennis courts so usually DF and I play during our Saturday night gym time. I'm also a runner, though I've managed to get lazy with it, I'm currently registered for 2 events in Portland, one in my hometown Hillsboro, a 197 mile relay from Mt. Hood to Seaside, OR and a race at Lake Tahoe. I'm hoping to see how everything goes because I really want to run the Goofy challenge in Jan 2012. DF is there now, and he ran it in the freezing temperatures... I'm so proud.

I don't really have time for anything else anymore and I kind of hate it. I used to frequent weekend trips to San Francisco and Seattle but those have gone by the wayside. Oh well, things will change eventually. I just feel as if all my money goes to Disney trips anymore... that and stupid textbooks.

Great thread! :thumbsup2

I'm GothTink, live in St. Louis with my husband (who works at Boeing) and our two kids (16 and 9). I'm an author with a bestselling series and way too much to do, but I always find time for the Dis! :woohoo:

Wow alot of medical people on here! Well count me in! I'm a 39 yr old ER nurse. I live in NE Pa but work in NJ. As my signature states I have 5 boys, 2 are stepsons, 2 from my 1st marriage and 1 from this marriage. Besides nursing I teach several medical related courses. I am also a network marketer for an up and coming health and wellness company! Busy, busy! I LOVE Disney, don't get there nearly enough. Hi! I'm Rachel.

I'm 39 years old, 40 in March! I live in Maine, have been here for 20 years now after growing up in Massachusetts. I have been married to a wonderful man for 15 years in April, and have a gorgeous, talented, smart, sweet daughter who is 14 (see pic below, heh).

I work full-time for the Bar Association, and it is a WONDERFUL place to work; the people here from top to bottom are awesome. Oh, wait, I am the bottom, that was kinda vain... I've been here three and a half years. Hubby is the student in our world; he's graduation this spring with a BS in Computer Systems (or something like that), and currently is on the Dean's List with a 3.86 GPA :cool1:

I crochet, and do some artwork on the computer, using Photoshop and Poser programs. I am also VERY much into working out and losing weight, so far I'm at 19 pounds down, with about 45 to go. Trying to lose enough to be able to donate a portion of my liver to my mom, but I bet you've all heard about that already!

We have two furbabies: Cupcake and Luna. They are spoiled, pampered babies and we love them to pieces. :lovestruc

I think that's about it... This is a great thread! :thumbsup2

Hi! I'm Darcy!

I'm 27 and I've been married to my husband, William, for 7 years. Yes. I got married young, but we're still happily married! :lovestruc
I work as a recepotionist for for a construction company. I'm thinking about going to school for something though. Not sure what. William is a merchandising supervisor at Best Buy. We do not have any kids, but we do have 3 gorgeous neices and 2 handsome nephews that we love to spoil!!! ;)
We are both part of the Irving Citizens Fire Academy Alumni that is an organzation that helps the fire dept. We are both huge Disney fans. We are currently planning our next vacation for 2011. We have talked about a Disney cruise, Disney World, Sandals, Myrtle Beach, and Forks, Washington. He surpised me when he mentioned that one! He knows I would love it! I actually have no idea where we are going. He has taken over the planning and won't tell me til its that time.:headache: ;) So it will be a surprise trip!

Nice to meet everyone!!!
