Is it even worth requesting a certain room....Do you even go so far as to give a room number for the request?

We are going to the CBR soon and had requested
a room in Jamica. Now I would REALLY like to have a corner room....but think that I would be way too picky to ask for a corner room...

How far do you go with requests.....

We have always had good luck with our room requests but I have not ever gotten really specific (i.e. specific room numbers). I figure if we get our requests then great and if not then it is not a big deal. The more specific your request obviously the less chance you have of getting them.

I did request a corner room when we stayed at POFQ because I wanted the extra light from the two windows. We had reserved a king bed and I knew that many of them were corner rooms so I figured it didn't hurt to ask. My entire request was for a non-smoking, corner room on the top floor of any building. That may have been too specific but I put my requests in order of preference and got them all.

There was only one time we didn't get what we requested, but we only make general type requests. The one time we didn't get it we had requested non-smoking in Poly concierge and got smoking. Didn't ask for a change because the view was SPECTACULAR, but would never do it again. The room was not smelly, but the whole third floor hall was TERRIBLE!

This year at WL we requested non-smoking, bunks in the north wing.

You can put it in your request but usually ask for something like that when we check in. Just smile sweetly and say you had hoped to get a corner room. Disney really does work magic with room assignments at check in.

Of my 15 stays in WDW resorts only one time was I not given all or most of what I requested. The one time at the YC I got a room that I liked even better than what I had asked for. I usually am very mellow in the way I state my requests and I list them in order of importance. I often ask for a corner room at the moderates. It doesn't hurt to request stuff as long as you do it in a nice manner and let them know that you understand if they can't fulfill all or part of it.

We have also been very successful in recent years. Out of probably 6 requests, we've always gotten what we asked for. I agree with noting only what's really important to you, in order, and staying away from room numbers. I have read several times that the CM's don't appreciate room number requests.

Have a great day!

This thread has me wondering if anyone ever requests the smallest, crappiest room available with the view of the dumpsters :p then complains when they get a suite.

Hey, I might try that next time

I discussed requests with a CM one time and asked how room’s assignments are determined. I was told the Room Assigner has to spread the work load around for the Mousekeepers. You could request a particular room, but also say in the same”General Area”. If you are coming for 4 days and the room you requested is not available the first day, then they have to assign you anther room. If for whatever reason you are not happy with your room, the staff will do everything possible to move you.

I just returned from the Swan. I booked a standard King room nonsmoking. I put in a request for a balcony. At check-in, I asked very humbly again for a balcony room - we got the balcony and... it was part of a Jr. Suite! How magical!

In '99 when we stayed at POFQ, I didn't even know you could request a room, but we had a great room, terrific location.

This January, I faxed a room request to AKL. We had a guaranteed non-smoking savannah view reserved (btw, you can get the non-smoking guaranteed if you let them know it's for medical reasons when you book), and I requested a particular savannah and view in my fax. Not only did they accommodate all the requests, but when we were not 100% happy with the first room (having nothing to do with the requests, but it was close to the lobby and the traffic in the hallway was noisy), they IMMEDIATELY moved us to a fantastic room--an even better location with a better view.

So now I have the "it can't hurt to ask ... nicely" view on the room request question. It's my impression that WDW wants their guests to be happy.

The earlier you can check in, the better. Rooms are assigned according to when you actually check in, we usually get there super early and have gotten our request for Jamaica 45 twice. On another occaison we didn't get there until 1:30 and still got Jamaica, but in a building next to 45. They told us that the rooms are assigned as people check-in.

On our first (and only trip) to Disney during Thanksgiving week 2000, we stayed at All Star Movies. I had read on this board that someone had stayed in room 755 in the Buzz building and that it was a great location-close to the lobby, bus stop, food court, etc. I faxed a room request for a room near 755. I couldn't think of a good reason as to why we needed that room, and I simply said "please put us in or near room 755 in the Buzz Building." We checked in at 5:30 pm and were told we were assigned to room 755. Our first pixie dust!

This past 7/7 got what I faxed, but did not like the enclosed balcony. Moved us to a super room with a super view the very next morning.

/For Poly GV concierge when we arrived they were putting us on floor we requested but not side of building we requested. Since we got there early at 10 am, Concierge was able to find us a room exactly where I requested - Mid Hall Tahiti 3rd floor West side. Amazing.
