White tents/cabanas at Magic Kingdom?

In the end this is such a "who cares" for me. I would have to win a million dollars to even CONSIDER doing something like this - and even then I'd rather spend the $650 a day on a room at the Grand Floridian that I can go back to a REALLY relax. But if Disney can find people to use them, fine by me. It has no affect whatsoever on MY vacation - and if Disney can increase profits without charging ME more money - that's fantastic.

My opinion is that it's more of family reunion type of space. Families with special needs could also benefit. However, if this concept becomes popular for that subset of guest, you might find smaller rental area's as well.
I see it benefiting a small group that are not all lodging together. Maybe Grandmom and Granddad are semi local, non lodging. Their son's family is staying at the poly and the daughters family is at All-star. It brings everyone together. It'll be easier than getting an ADR for 8 I'd guess.

To those saying "BOO, HISS, why does Disney just care about the 1%? Take the $$ they're spending on the cabanas and make better park stuff!" Consider that Disney is able to maintain the quality of their parks and build cooler stuff year after year (or every few years) because they squeeze EVERY. LAST. PROFIT DOLLAR out of every square foot of park space that they have.

Building and maintaining attractions cost money. Training quality CMs costs money. Making sure Timmy has a completely fabulous time at the Fantasmic dinner package-- you guessed it, costs them money! In order for a business to thrive, they have to innovate. We may not always agree with their methods, and when we don't we can let them know by not spending our money there. The consumer ultimately rules. Cabanas aren't my thing, so I won't buy one.

To quote Zootopia, "It's called a hustle, sweetheart!" :)

We will have 7-8 on our trip in 2020. If they have this at MK or HS/SWL it will seriously be considered.

We would use the thing twice for up to 2.5hr total in that day but those breaks away from mass amounts of people, without having to leave the park, would be worth it to my group.

I wonder how many return customers these would/will get. While I can understand the appeal of a "private" get away I wonder what exit surveys will say about their placement. If you are over at Pirates and want to take a break but have a FP at BTMRR in 30 mins these aren't the best. They obviously put them in the most convenient location (out of the way but open), but it is a far corner of the park. Could you imagine if these were in Castle, where the boutique is? They would probably be more desirable then, but working around stage shows would be an issue.

I don't care about the fact that something like this is being offered, just like I don't care about the VIP tours. If folks have the money to burn good for them. What bothers me is the placement "on stage", even if they are off to the side. I don't want to see tents in Tomorrowland- they don't fit and that takes from the atmosphere. Fine to have them, charge whatever they like, but I think they should be behind fencing or a scrim or something. I would also think that would make the tent more quiet and private for the families renting them.

I wonder how soon it will be before some non-renter comes up to the cabana thinking it's a food and drink tent?

One day with this thing eats up our food budget for an entire week. Holy crap.

That made me think: We spent about $400 on THREE days of eating at Food and Wine for the three of us. Yet another way I'd rather spend that money.

Cruise line private islands already struggle with this with their private cabanas - guests are always using the cabana outside showers intended only for the renters...I mean, who wouldn't try to look in these and figure what's up?

I'm liking this new line of thinking.

Did MVMCP because we skipped the cabana.

Now we are planning a 2nd bass fishing excursion because we're not renting a 2nd cabana day.

3rd skip will be Shula's as well-love it.

Look out XMAS week, can't wait. HP day at US/IOA just got much more affordable.

:yay:

WOW! $600 snacks. I'm on my way to Shula's

A better way. Start putting quality back into the parks.

After what I experienced this weekend, I totally agree. Broken reservation systems, broken monorails, malfunctioning attractions, poor food quality, garbage, lack of staffing and that was all on Sunday/Monday.

Rumor

Jim Hill musings

Epcot- Renovation work to begin within next 1-2 years. At least one major attraction built by 2021 and then more to come after that.

Rivers of Light- Iger saw video of RoL preview, felt the show was not strong enough to stand alone. Debut to come alongside Avatar opening. New RoL show for WDW 50th after they get their return on investment.

Cabana Test- Final version of cabanas in MK would have firework views. They would go in the area where the Tomorrowland Skyway station was. They would be on the second level for views of the park. http://www.yesterland.com/reminders.html
-Epcot test would put the tents in the future world area between FW and WS where they place the flower and garden kids playground.
-1.5 acres set aside in Star Wars Experience for permanent cabanas, Star Wars Experience is supposed to be 14 acres total, 1.5 of that dedicated to cabanas...
-Imagineers not happy about this and the theming aspect.
