White tents/cabanas at Magic Kingdom?

I disagree. The cabanas are the problem. Seeing one of these things definitely takes away from the show. The idea of these chintzy things around the park makes me think of a flea market setting. I think it's an awful idea from beginning to end. If they truly want to give people the option to book a private space for whatever reason, do it inside a building with air conditioning and a window overlooking the park. I have no personal knowledge of behind the scenes spaces but converting one of those with several smaller rooms with these perks would be a better idea in my opinion.

It could be a trial balloon though, not necessarily the finished product going forward as you mention.

Actually that's probably what they are trying to determine, it can't be too cheap or its right back to 60 day reservations etc.

But if you want one included with admission, they will need about 20,000.

But agree cabanas are not the problem.
People aren't asking for one with admission so they don't need 20,000 of them. Many just feel this is disney going after the elite.

Considering this is a test I'm sure show will improve over time if it works.

I think it's both. It is not a location, design or price that appeals to an average Disney fan.

If this was to rent a space in the castle or above a Main St store ... it becomes an instant "bucket list" item for many Disney fans.
Yeah but then the price would be $2,000 per day.

It's not ever going to be in my budget but having a room above a Main Street shop is a good idea. But I doubt there is truly space there given the forced perspective of the building on Main Street.

I believe there are some rooms above Main Street but they are storage or offices.

I think people are asking for them. The with admission was a response to your post.

Filling a desired market isn't always easy.

Express pass for 8 at Universal last year was $1,200. Plus $1,200 for a one day hopper. $2,400.

rather than things everyone can enjoy for that price of admission.

Did you buy Express Pass separately? For that many people, you would have saved a lot of money by getting 2 rooms at one of their deluxe hotels, even if they didn't get used.

No 8 was just a comparison to the cabana guest count.

Point really is who gets to decide what a company can offer its guests.

If something is offered I'm not interested in, I pass. It's not difficult.

This will be something that a large family from infants to the elderly can get a benefit from the most. If you are in such a group and you have planned on a big trip with all, there will always be somebody in that group that will need to take a break..."SUMMER"..Assuming that large of a group are not staying at a mono resort...but that is still a long walk out of the park and up to the monorail, plus the time it would take.
Many question's;
How are they going to control who is able to use the cabana's at any one time ?
Will they have CM's to stand guard or issue wristbands?
What if you have 9 or 10...an extra per person fee?
Then of course there will the look y-loo's..can you imagine paying all that money and have people staring at you all day..at that point your have become another attraction known as the
"Cabana People Of Earth"

Just what I always wanted when I had an infant... to sit in a tent ~100' from a loud, rockin' Incredibles dance party

If they want to do this, they should really convert the space over the businesses on main street. These tents, or whatever structures they will replace them with, are a waste of space. I don't think $650 per day per tent will even make them that much money compared to other possible uses for that space. Surely an ice cream cart would make that in a few hours.

The cabana themselves isn't the problem it's the pricing.

How is this any different than some people being able to afford a VIP tour guide during their park days, while others can't? Yes, they're visible in the park (but so are the groups with guides who get put on attractions quickly).

So - from what I've read there is no air-conditioning - which means in summer its essentially a damp sweat-box with snacks and drinks. Wonder if they'll get some complaints from that. Right now it's probably fine.

OK - there's plenty of things to complain about at Disney - but this to me is a complete "who cares". It's like hiring a VIP tour guide. Sure - those people paying $1500-3000 a day for a guide are jumping ahead of me in line - but there's like 20 of them in the entire park. It has nearly zero effect on my vacation.

People renting these tents are going to likely spend more time in their tent and less time wandering around the park, making the park fractionally less crowded and the lines fractionally less long. Other than that they have zero effect on my vacation. So even though I don't think much of the idea - I could care less about it. It's the same as the $50 dessert parties which TONS of people do but I think are the biggest rip-off. To each his own, but in the end they have next to no affect on my vacation. I'll save my ire for those type of things - which almost none of these extras do. (The hard ticket events are the only "extra" that to disrupts my vacation. When MK is closed to me for 4 of the 7 nights I am there unless I pay an extra $100 - THAT pisses me off. But apparently it doesn't bother the other tens of millions of people there, and it's not changing anytime soon.)

They are $2,800 minimum. $400-600/hr, depending on season, with a 7 hour minimum.

I think it has more to do with Disney going after the elite and not doing things for everyone. Its all about extra expense add ons now rather than things everyone can enjoy for that price of admission.

Kind of a silly thought though, isn't it? In fact Disney does not really go after 'the elite.' Their recent pricing trend does seem to indicate that they do and yet the level of service isn't anywhere near what anyone would consider to be actual luxury or elite. I am pretty confused about what goes on in the boardrooms given the recent ideas coming out and the prices. I know I would certainly be much more open if the company decided to up the price across the board (not these nickel and dime or specialty things they are pulling) if it would decrease the crowds and give me better service.

I actually think Disney is going after those looking to spend their vacation dollar elsewhere. A lot of families are booking both Disney and Universal and splitting their time between the two, but may stay exclusively on the property of one or the other or choose to change accommodations. I think if they can offer more "private" experiences it may keep that family in the park and not over at Universal.
