my mil gave me a white leather purse for my birthday, and I'm not so sure about it. she gave me a gift receipt and is totally fine with me exchanging it, so not sure what exactly I'll do (and no, I didn't say anything other than an effusive thank you for it. she just is the type who always gives a gift receipt and always lets you know she will not have her feeling hurt if you don't like something/would prefer something else).

I think I have a bias because I always think "old lady" when I think of white leather purses, because that is what I remember my grandmother carrying.

so do you think they are a fashion do or don't?

eta, its this one here: http://www.anneklein.com/Nouveu-Nau...Num=11&variantSizeClass=&variantColor=WHITELE

I always think of the 80's when I think about white leather.

If you don't like it, return it. If you do, don't worry about what the "do's and don'ts" of white leather are.

I, like you, have always thought of them as old lady. However, I think they are making a big comeback and are very much in style now. But I could be wrong. I do think I have been seeing more of them in fashion mags and stuff like that.

I have a white Coach purse with brown trim. Its not stark white, more of a winter white. I get many many compliments on it and I am not an old lady :upsidedow

I think they are very fashionable now and I think that one is very cute. I had a white one a few years ago and got tons of compliments from college students through people in their early 30s. So I definitely think that stigma is changing for many.

I've owned a number of white leather purses, and never did I know there was an "old lady" stigma involved--and perhaps there isn't where I live. (It is more a "Thank God it is finally warm out" thing). I try to avoid buying white purses since they tend to pick up dyes from darker clothing, including denims.

I just checked it out-it's cute.
I'm 20 years old and I would use it, but if you see one there that you LOVE or prefer more, get it.

:goodvibes

I think the bag is lovely and does not look old lady-ish at all. In fact, I think it's very stylish.

I think it kind of depends on where you live. I wouldn't have been caught dead with a white purse when I lived in the San Francisco area. Probably not in New York or London either.

But I bought one for this year that I will use in New Orleans. I am an old lady so my opinion doesn't really count.

I have seen a lot of white purses lately. I think this one is pretty dang cute. I'd use it! :thumbsup2

OMG I love that! And I don't love too many purses, either! ;)

Yeeks, it was 'spensive too! :scared:

It's a cute purse. But I'm not a fan of white purses in general. My preference would be pink, green, or straw or canvas, going into summer. If I already had several purses, I'd keep it and enjoy. But if I needed a summer purse, I'd rather have it in a color.

My fashonista sister (OMG, love her to death, but she cannot leave the house even if it is to run to get a gas in sweatpants, ALWAYS has to be make up, heels, bag, etc.) Just got a Michael Korrs white (not stark white) purse for her birthday from her boyfriend. She works at Michael Korrs and wanted it so badly.

I too have a white Coach. It is a pebbled white. And I was just thinking of packing it for my Disney trip for nights out at any clubs we may go to. It is not big..I only use it for outfits it matches. I also have seen a ton of white purses, year round now! I do love white. but still can only use it in the summer in Mass...........BUT I will use it in Florida now!

I'm from New England and here is the rule and I know all the fashion magazines say this rule no longer exists but ahem there not from New England so =P they can't change the rules. Any-who::your not supposed to wear white shoes before memorial day or after labor day so I'd say same thing goes with purses but hey that's just me..

thats a really cute bag. im 19 and i would use it

I think its fine! I have 2 white leather coach bags one with brown trim and one with grey trim....they are cute.I dont see them as old lady bags because they are white.I use my white bags in the spring and summer.

My daughter has a large white Prada bag that looks great, she gets positive comments so no problem with white.

yaah, that is the OLD new England rule! That has been out the window for a bit now!!! I have been seeing white bags all year round for a long time now!:confused3

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to branch out and keep it!!!! see, trying new things is a good thing. :) :) :)

I do have a straw bag and some woven ones for summer as well. this will make for a nice change. its about time to put my black coach one away till fall anyway, and the size/shape of this is comparable.

not going to worry about waiting till memorial day, though. especially if we are going to pull 90 degree days this early. definitely a strange year this year.
