White cat in Epcot

Was it this one?

Awwww a sweet little siamese mix. I'm glad I didn't see that guy when I was there in December, or I'd be coming home with an extra cuddly souvenir, and my two cats at home would kill me!

Anyone know the name of the shelter? I would adopt another in a heartbeat! I have 3 here now that were "throw away" kittys and I cannot stand to see this happen to these Disney Cats. We are going in August and it would not surprise anyone if I brought one back with us!!!

I am notorious for finding or being found by cats when I travel. However, the last time we were at Epcot, (France even!) we found this bunny!

cute huh!

I saw lots of bunnies at BWI near the quiet pool. I love the wildlife at WDW!

Feral cats fascinate me and I enjoy watching them. It must be wonderful to be a feral cat at WDW. Better there than a dank alley or abandonned building. I read that Disneyland has a large colony of feral cats that live backstage and prowl the park when it's dark and the park is closed.

put it this way, if he was hanging around the China pavilion, he does have a name......DINNER!

AHHHH!! The character fan in me thought this post was about Marie, the white cat from the Aristocats, that she has been seen in France at Epcot! (The movie does take place in France, too!). But alas, this thread is about a real cat, not a character one! Had my hopes up there for a second.
I thought it was going to be a Marie sighting as well.

We were having a late dinner at one of the resorts when I saw a family of rats running from planter to planter. I told the management about it. The next day when we were walking around the resort we saw a couple of cats near the area where we had seen the rats! :lmao:

The cat I saw at the Poly in 2006 looked almost like a Himalayan - fluffy - siamese color.

I've seen him too - we were there just last weekend and saw him outside of Captain Cook's

But that reminds me of this other time at the Poly...there were these two ducks (sorry to get a little off topic but it really was funny) a couple of years ago. One duck was actively pursuing the other duck. The other duck would have none of it and was squalking (or whatever sound ducks make) loudly. It became clear after a while what the first duck wanted to do to the other duck ;) (I mean he was climbing on top of the second duck, who would then get free again and the chase would resume). It was pretty funny. Even more so after a little boy asked his mother what the duck was trying to do...her reply..."he just wants to say hello..." Sorry to get off topic, but we laughed so hard!

LOL! I was just wondering the same thing, which shelter they send them to. I'm such a sucker for animals. . . my aunt and I emptied our pockets in Rome for the feral cats around the Colosseum. This woman was walking around with a cart, opening cans of food and setting it out for the cats. She had a little sign accepting donations but wasn't bothering anyone or begging so we walked over and gave her a few euros. She picked up one of the cats that had come over for us to pet and play with. . . we fell in love with the little guy and ended up giving her the rest of our change, LOL. I think we probably ended up giving her about 20 euro, LOL! There are a few small organizations that do this - collect money for the vet care and feeding of these animals. There are tons of cats around the Colosseum and the Roman Forums. I think the cats are as popular as the sites themselves.

I wonder if they'll hold that Siamese one for me if they catch it:rotfl2:

We've never seen cats at Disney World and hope we never do. All five of our cats are rescued. The first one was a day away from his limit at a shelter. The second two were left behind a car dealership. The last two were be threatened to be thrown with their brothers and sisters in a weighted bag into the lake (seriously - why the guy who owned their mother didn't shell out some bucks to get the cat fixed is beyond me). We also have used the humane trips to get four feral kittens off the streets around our house after their mothers was struck by a car and crawled into our driveway to die (no, the driver didn't stop). Those four are with a very cat friendly neighbor now.

Five cats is enough but if we can't take another one, we make sure someone else out there does.

And I'm shocked that lady at the Sizzler didn't know of no-kill shelters. Makes me shudder. I'm not telling my husband of this thread. He'd want to get in the car and drive the seven hours down there and back with a new addition to the family.

Only cats I seen at WDW were in the parking lot at POP Century. I seen a little speckled black and white one walking around. He seemed OK, so I guess he manages.

I thought the same thing Sue!!! LOL

I've seen lots of bunnies at various resorts but I don't remember seeing any cats so far.

That could well be the same one I saw last week. It looked just like a fluffy siamese, complete with the pretty blue eyes. The CM told me it's been hanging around for quite a while. Although most of the strays can be trapped within a few days, this one is very smart and has been avoiding being trapped.

Bravo!!!Good question. Not sure if Disney send there rescues here but I know of two no kill shelters off the top of the head. Southlake Animal Rescue in Clermont and Pet Rescue by Judy in Orlando. We have 5 rescues safe and sound indoors from a gas station, hotel, side of an Interstate and from horrendous conditions of a pet store we saw on a local TV station segment. Like having 5extra kids LOL.:)They own a spare bedroom. Coco is a loner. She owns DD.

I LOVE the feral cats of Rome. I visited the cat sanctuary while I was there, much to the disgust of my traveling companion. I just finished using a Cats of Rome 2006 calendar and gave it to a colleague who is an artists and loves cats. She is going to use it to make collages. That was my favorite calendar of all time.

I will keep a lookout for cats at WDW and hopefully get some photos to share on the DIS.

No but I saw ducks walking round people's tables as they ate at MK. I missed getting a picture.

We were at WDW last week staying at BCV and I saw a white cat outside the International Gateway across the bank as well. If I were him, I'd hang out at Epcot all the time too.

I try to avoid thinking too much about the strays I see places. I am such a sucker for animals. Yes, I only have three but long work days and a small house make it harder to have more. Oh that little orange kitten at the Poly. It was so cute!

I wish people were kinder to animals AND people. The world would be a lovelier place.

My middle kitty was a throw away. I believe someone moved out on him and just tossed him out the door. After we had him for 8 months (skinny stray - not anymore!) - when I brought out the boxes of Christmas items, he became visibly agitated. So each Christmas we have to tell him we are NOT moving and putting him out. After 10 years, he finally believes us!

Anyway, I enjoyed the cat pics and here's hoping the Poly cats are in nice homes now. pixiedust:

What I find crazy is that ferral cats are everywhere. Anywhere you have irresponsible people, you will find ferral cats, and dogs. The motley fool published an article about how disgusting Universal was....wait, let me rephrase that, the original article was complaining how Universal while run by GE was poorly run, and as an example of that " just can't recall ever seeing cats in a gated attraction." Come on! I guess folks love to walk around with blindfolds on? I remember going to SFOG once and a stray dog was walking around the park. Kings Island in Ohio, there were river otters playing in the river rapids. Encroaching on nature...that occurs when you build too much, too fast and destroy habitats. Ferral cats, and stray dogs? Thats just what happens when you either build in a metropolis, or you build a metropolis around your theme park. Remember people, spay and nueter your animals....and when they get older, your children!

:lmao:

On a lighter note ... since someone mentioned ducks. In November when we were walking by Casey's Corner (hot dog place) ... there was a mama duck and her ducklings wandering all around begging for tidbits. Everyone was stepping very carefully. It was cute.
