This was the first time I had seen Main Street decorated for Christmas. Loved it!
That is funny about the lights out. I didn't notice until I posted the update. Guess it is time to take down the decorations!
I really haven't seen Wishes that many times. I was glad to finally see it from Main Street.

LOVE Wishes and love watching it on Main St. we've gotten goodies from the bakery (now Starbucks right) and stayed put right there

It looks like you were standing in Town Square. I might try standing there next time for a quick exit. It is a decent view.
I think we were still on Main Street but very close to Town Square. We did get out of there in a jiffy.

Saturday, January 9: The Force is Strong (at exactly the wrong time)
I will probably be able to relive this day in a single update and just a few pictures. The Cliffs Notes version- Some work around the house, some play (a movie and dinner) and a quiet night before a great Disney Day.
As usual, I was up early. I made some coffee. Teena doesn’t drink coffee, but her daughter Jeanne does and they were kind to leave the coffee maker unpacked for my visit.
I used Teena’s computer a bit before she got up- Facebook, DISboards.
This morning’s main task was clearing out the room Lily stays in when she visits- going through the toys and deciding what to pack, what to donate, what to toss.
Here is the problem. I am a second-generation (at least) hoarder. If something is still in working order, I have trouble throwing it away!
So it went like this…
“Princess Jewelry” “Keep”
“Pet Shop Pals” “Keep”
“Mickey Spinny Light” “Toss” “Wait, does it still work?” “Yes” “I’ll take it”
“Plastic Trike” “Donate”
“Broken Music Box” “Are you sure it is broken?” “Yes” “Ok, toss” “Wait, I hear music…” “Donate?”
“Little Mermaid and Prince Erik figures” “Toss” “I’ll bring those home”
Teena thought I was crazy (she is not wrong) and didn’t believe I would be able to get everything home in my carryon luggage- one small suitcase and a backpack (I did, though!)
The other thing I worked on that morning was finishing disassembling and cleaning the storage shelves in the garage.
After we finished, we posted this picture on Facebook
“I Earned My Ears”
The next day (Sunday), my plan was to go into work with Teena and hang around the Beach Club. I had a few friends who were in the World at the same time, and I was going to try to meet up with them. I was perfectly content with just chllin’ out at my home away from home.
But Teena had a surprise for me! She had a ticket voucher that would be expiring before Jeanne would be back to Disney, so she gave it to me! My plan was to go into EPCOT in the morning, where my priority was the Behind the Seeds tour and then to hop over to Hollywood Studios. I was not able to do Toy Story Mania during the class trip in June, so we booked a FP for that. Then Teena insisted that I get a FP for the Frozen Sing-a-long show, even though I have only seen the movie once. The final FP was Star Tours. They had just added scenes from the (at that time) newly released “The Force Awakens” but I don’t go to the movies often, so I had not seen it yet.
It was rainy that Saturday afternoon (as the runners will recall) and Teena wanted to go to the movies and dinner at Sonny’s BBQ. She hadn’t seen the new Star Wars either, but it had been a long time since she had seen the trilogy and didn’t really remember the storyline. People told her that she probably would have trouble following the new movie if she didn’t remember the previous ones. But I promised that I would fill her in on the storylines that she needed to know and I think I did a pretty good job.
We left in plenty of time, so we stopped first at Walmart to get some luncheon meat for Teena’s lunch the next day and for my flight home on Monday. We brought a cooler pack to keep the food cool. We got talking about mangoes, and Teena said she didn’t know how to pick out a good one or to cut it up. I told her you could buy mango cups with them all cup up (we found those) and I also purchased a couple of fresh mangoes so I could show her later how to prepare them.
Then, as we were shopping, Teena found a really nice suitcase that had been marked down and was a great deal. When we got to the checkout, however, it was coming up at regular price. It took a RIDICULOUSLY long amount of time to resolve this. I can’t even describe how badly this was handled. The cashier tried to find a manager, there was only one on duty. She came over and couldn’t do anything. Meanwhile the line behind us got longer and longer. I think the checkout process took out about 15-20 minutes and now we were cutting it close for the movie.

We arrived at the theatre and had trouble finding a parking spot. Due to the rain, the place was packed. We saw a truck backing out of a space and Teena swooped in and parked. We purchased our tickets, but did not have time to get snacks or use the restroom before we needed to take our seats.
The movie started.
“Man, this movie is great!”
“Wow, it’s cold in here!”
“I REALLY have to pee!”
I didn’t want to leave the theater, but I really had no choice. I excused myself and slipped out.
When I came back, Teena whispered to me that I had missed the pivotal point in the movie, the reveal of Kylo Ren’s background.
Oh, well! At least I was now comfortable.
It was still raining as we exited the theater and went for dinner. I don’t think we had a wait for a table, or at least not a long one.
I could not decide what to get, so I got a combination platter with pulled pork and ribs.
Teena got these amazing looking babybacks!
Portions were HUGE and I had some pulled pork and a rib left over to doggy bag.
When we got back to the house, we had a pretty quiet night.
A couple came by to pickup the strollers that Teena had listed on Craig’s List for free
I gave Teena Mango Lessons. I showed Teena how to cut up a mango. She packed it for lunch the next day, and commented that it was the best mango she had ever had- and it was! The perfect ripeness and absolutely delicious.
We threw in a load of laundry, and being a good laundry patron and guest…

We stopped by the BC that afternoon and Teena told us how hard you were working at her home. I would have a hard time trying to decide what to keep or toss when going through someone's possessions.

Sounds like a great day! I ran the half that morning and the rain really didn't bother us until dinner at Chefs de France in the evening when we had to walk/run back to the BC.

Sounds like a very productive day. I hate to admit it, but I haven't seen the "new" Star Wars movie yet. My DH took our oldest, and we own it, but I just haven't found the time...

I totally understand the hoarding instinct. I have tons of stuff that I don't use but I just can't bring myself to get rid of.
And every time I go into the attic to put away stuff I'm not using ... I see our old Betamax machine. So I definitely get it from my parents.
Although I'm trying to be good and throw out old magazines right now. It's not entirely working.

I wish she had let me do more packing. The moving company she had was doing all the packing, but it ended up taking more time than expected. I can't help but think there was more I could have done.

You know me- I haven't been a rule breaker since my teen years (last year) .
I am a keeper, my husband is a tosser. We wont even get into my electronic hoarding.
Glad you weren't bothered by the rain while running.
I have rib-regret. I should have ordered the same thing as Teena!
My guys just watched it a month or so ago. That's why I tried not to give the "spoiler" in my update

My semi-hoarderism comes out when it comes to all things Disney related. I just know that one day someone else will appreciate it or it may even become valuable one day. I need to take a picture or two of my old boss's mother's house. You want to talk hoarder....she is a hoarder times a gazillion.
Of course I had to look at the food pictures right before lunch and while I'm popping altoids like a mad woman because all of my real snacks are at the other office.

That is so kind of you to help Teena out.
My husband is a hoarder and I'm a tosser or donator. It's made for quite a few disagreements over the years. Two completely different mentalities. Our compromise is I get to keep the house organized and junk free and he gets half of the basement for the stuff that he can't part with. He got it from his mother, so I know it can be passed on.
Walmart has great prices, but their customer service is awful. Not shocked to hear what you went through to get the clearance price on the suitcase. Give me Target any day!
Now I'm craving ribs something terrible.

OOPS!
Missed these posts. Has been a really busy couple of weeks.
This past week I have been working at Little Farmers Camp. Ben has been helping. Kids 5-9, we feed the animals, make some crafts, go on a tractor ride, have snack and lunch and play outside. Not a bad gig.
Tuesday was our 30th wedding anniversary and we had a nice dinner out. We will officially celebrate with a stay at the Yacht Club in October during Food and Wine, which most of you know already (and some of you will be crashing!)
We are not big on gifts or cards and he can't give me flowers (the cats eat them), but he emailed the sweetest list. He asked if it was ok to post on Facebook and I said yes, but I don't think he is going to do it. But I will share it here in the next post. Made me laugh and made me cry!
Souvenirs from my trip. Right?
My friends make fun of my tendencies to keep and reuse things. They know if we use plastic tablecloths for an event, and they are still clean, I will take them for the craft table at the farm. And I am the go-to person for obscure props for theatre productions.
Do you need to get involved with any clean-up at your old bosses house? I hope not!
Sorry about the lunch thing! Yes, those ribs are making me hungry too.
Every once and awhile Mark gets annoyed with my junk. But for the most part we co-exist peacefully.
And please note #24 on our anniversary list!

Sunday January 10:A Magical Marathon Meet-A-Thon
Part 1- Can’t Get There From Here and Off to See the Lizard
Teena was working today, so we were headed to the Beach Club. This happened to be the day of the marathon that was running through EPCOT and MK, so Teena had received an email from Disney that traffic routes were disrupted and we should leave early to get to the Beach Club.
We passed near the Disney arch- maybe I am mistaken, but I think it would be incredibly cool to go under/near this every day on the way to work.
We passed by some runners
Teena parked in the cast lot. We separated as she entered through the cast entrance and I walked up to the Beach Club entrance.
“Welcome Home!” I posted on FB.
Some of you may remember my story in the Orange Banded Monkey report about the early morning talkative worker at the Beach Club bus stop in August, that both HockeyMomR and Wood Nymph had encountered on past trips. I saw her again!
As I mentioned at the beginning of the report, one of the best things about the timing of this trip was that I would be seeing some of the dear friends I have made through our connection to Disney and the Beach/Yacht Club. Friday night we had fun with Janet. Today, I would be meeting my friend Mike @MickeyT and his family for the first time.
Mike has been such a great friend to me- supportive, loyal, fiercely funny and always willing to do my bidding when I am looking for resort info and pictures. I credit him with starting up the “Be Our Guest” list we keep on the FAQ thread, and he has reported back on the prices of common items at the Marketplace so we can prepare guests who will be making purchases.
In recent years, he has become a captain and inspiration for a running team, the Be Our Guest Podcast “Lizards”. On this morning he was up early to support his runners and was heading back to the Beach Club as I was arriving.
Here are the texts we exchanged that morning:
6:56 I have been so looking forward to today. We finally meet and all will be right with the world.
8:48 I’m on the bus to BC from studio now. Be there in less than 10 minutes.
8:53 See you real soon!
I passed some of the time while I was waiting for Mike taking pictures in the Marketplace gift shop.
Then I returned to the lobby to wait, and I went into the space between the double doors and played around with some pictures
And finally!!!
We hugged, we talked.
Teena and I would be joining Mike and his family for dinner that night, but for now, he was exhausted so was returning to his room for a rest and I was off to EPCOT. We parted ways until later.

Mark made a very nice list. 
That was really sweet of him to do that. I like how he added Disney to the list. I guess that means he doesn't mind you spending so much time doing Disney stuff.
