"We ride some rides, eat some food and have some laughs" - JanetMom

Excellent recap of a great evening. It was truly a highlight of my own trip to get to spend some time with you two. There's only so much you can learn about a friend over the internet, sometimes you just need a good chat over a dole whip!

Loved that you had us experience the BTM queue. I made my son go through it the next day so he could experience it too.

Can't wait to carry on our conversation when we next meet again! (Literally counting the days!)

OMG that seafod mac n cheese looks so good! And those huge chunks of lobster on the top! Wow, I wouldn't expect that from theme park quick service (even Disney).
I think I didnt' see it on the menus online as well which is probably why I didn't end up eating there on our last trip. Good to know that they may have it even when it's not online.

What a fun night! Glad you were able to ride BTMRR with your friends! It's so much fun to ride at night. You went on all the classic rides, and finished with a Dole Whip! Nothing better than that!

I've never really tried to take pictures on ride in Haunted Mansion. I just like to sit back and enjoy the ride. It really bothers me when people are taking flash photos.

I've never done Columbia Harbor House. Maybe next trip I will.

Big Thunder Mountain is my fave!

Pirates is also a lot of fun.

Dole whips at night! Sounds like an awesome evening!

You got some nice Haunted Mansion pictures! I've never even tried to get pictures on that ride (way too dark for my camera), but I'm always impressed at the pictures people take.

I'm glad that the seafood mac & cheese did not disappoint!

Big Thunder Mountain is always fun. I have to admit, I don't love the new queue, but it sounds like you guys enjoyed.

Pirates followed by Dole Whips ... I think that may be the most "Disney" night ever!

Your seafood Mac and cheese looks very good. Maybe I should cancel my reservation at Narcosse. ;)

I think it was you who liked the salmon at Columbia Harbor House. It was surprisingly good although I would have preferred rice instead of couscous.

It looks like you had a lot of fun that night. I wouldn't be surprised if Janetmom was in no hurry to leave that night. ;). It is fun to ditch the family sometimes.

You know I love that seafood mac n' cheese at CHH, it's one of my must-dos! One day I need to try a dole whip :duck:

I though I quoted this before but I didn't....
I was horrified when Nate told me his yearbook quote was going to be a Ronald Reagan saying. But he chose one that is totally appropriate for him:

"It's true hard work never killed anybody, but I figure, why take the chance?" Ronald Reagan

That was his philosophy throughout a lot of his school career, but in the past couple of years he has pulled it together and really has done well for him

:goodvibes
This is my Brandon! It gives me hope he can pull it together like your Nate  :offtopic: He almost ended up in summer school for failing AP History....after threatening to pull him out of XC and the December school Disney trip he got an A. No clue how.. wait yes I do he actually applied himself....
our sons are so much alike.

Finally caught up again :)
I love your latest update. Looks like such a fun evening. Good food and great friends- what more could anyone ask for :thumbsup2

Sheesh!!!

So sorry for the disappearing act, folks!

I just can't seem to keep up anywhere- behind on the Beach Club FAQ, everyone's trip reports, my reports... We won't even talk about the disastrous shape my house is in!

June is a really busy month at work- all the schools are trying to get those last minute field trips before the school year ends, so I have been working a lot. On days that I am not working, I try to visit with my dad and I have been working around his house.

I did treat myself with a short, solo walk along the beach yesterday. I love everything about the ocean- the sights, the sounds, the smells. It felt great to get my feet into the sand and cold water.

Yesterday was Ben's last day of finals. The school has a half day scheduled today, but I don't think Ben is going to go. They aren't doing anything. Plus, we have a meeting at the farm for the students who will be volunteering at the summer camp.

Looks like you had a great night, I had the shrimp/lobster mac n cheese during our December trip. It was very good, and very filling. I hope all is well with Teena.

We had such a great night!!!

I have been craving the seafood mac & cheese since the first moment I read about it! It really did live up to my expectations. I hope it is available when Mark and I are on my anniversary trip, although I'm not sure if we are eating at CHH any night during our trip. I don't think it is on the menu at lunch, but I keep forgetting to ask.

I am in contact with Teena about once a week. She was very busy with her "Nanny-grading" business during the school year. She was helping out Jeanne's fellow teachers correcting papers and other paperwork. They moved into the new house they built in early May. Teena has good days and bad days, but she is doing the best she can with her "new normal" She has a Disney trip with Lily planned for September.

So fun!!!

It is not every day you can introduce Teena to something new at Disney! I was glad for Teena and you to try out the BTM queue. I am especially glad we decided to ride since my favorite attraction is scheduled to be closed during our fall trip! :(

I look forward to seeing you again, too. Our senses of humour are so similar it is scary!

:rotfl:

They also have a lobster roll (all day) at Columbia Harbor House, but I have heard mixed reviews- mostly bad. I will stick with the seafood mac & cheese. Mmmm...

I am so pleased with everything we did together.

::yes::

It was really nice of my friends to let me ride alone because they knew I wanted to take pictures. Although it was also nice when we rode Peter Pan all together. I didn't attempt to take pictures and just sat back to enjoy the ride.

Columbia Harbor House is my favorite counter service at MK. It may sound silly, but the tuna sandwich is really good. I know, just a tuna sandwich, but that is usually what kept me coming back. Now it is the seafood mac & cheese. And my family loves the chicken nuggets and fried shrimp, too.

I loved the whole night! Still more to come!

:thumbsup2

I am still impressed and jealous at other's pictures on Haunted Mansion, but these were the best I have taken.

We had delicious dinners followed by a dessert of Pan, Big Thunder, Pirates and a Dole Whip.

It was truly a "classic" night.

Well, you would certainly save a boatload of time and money if you chose CHH over Narcooses.

The salmon is another great choice at CHH.

I think Janetmom would have stayed with us a little longer, but that was her last full day and she needed to get back to pack. :(

Do you know if you can get the seafood mac & cheese during lunch if you ask (nicely, of course)?

We all have our shameful secrets... I'm not going to throw any stones at you over the Dole Whip until I have had a proper meal at Beaches & Cream.

:lmao:

our sons are so much alike.

We DISmoms have to stick together and give each other encouragement. Many years ago, after expressing frustration with Nate's lack of ambition, my pal @DisneyMomx7
told me about her son who took awhile to bloom, but ended up becoming a lawyer. Everything I said about Nate reminded her of her son. So I would like to pass on hope to you as well that Brandon will display the motivation to be a successful young man. I know he will make you proud!

I don't think I would do anything different if I had that night again. It was just wonderful!

Mission accepted, I will ask (since I think I've gotten it for lunch but I am not sure).

Great beach pics, I have never been to the beach to just stroll. I can barely escape the house alone to even get coffee ;)

:grouphug: I know Brandon will be okay, but I get so frustrated at his lack of initiative. I may have uttered the words "are you sure you are mine...." That does make me feel better that DisneyMomx7's DS is like ours and turned out better than okay. I was smiling all throughout the year with Nate's college picks and finally now his graduation. Us DISmommas totally need each other!!!

I am fortunate to live about 15 minutes from the beach. The boys used to love the beach but it is a struggle to get them there now. Now they won't even consider it unless friends are along. So I am envisioning a lot of solo trips or hopefully I can plan trips with friends of mine.

When DisneyMomx7 made the prediction about Nate, it was kind of hard to believe he would pull it together. My low point may have been when he was put on probation for the 8th grade Disney class trip in the first quarter, after I had paid both of our deposits, for getting a 4 (on a scale of 1-4) in effort in his Life Skills/Home Economics class.

All but one payment for the CP WDW trip was paid when I received the list of summer schools which taught World History. It blows my mind (why is there no emoji for that) that my son might get college credit for an AP World History class (we find out 7/9) that he got a final year average of 68 in. His GPA this year is 3.3, but he knows he but little effort into it. I am sure I will forget all about that letter when I watch my boy sing at Epcot, right???? If he passes 1st marking period...sigh...

Keeping my fingers crossed he gets credit for the class!

I can't imagine how magical it will be for you to see/hear your son singing at CP!

Viewing Wishes As it was Meant to Be

After saying goodbye to Janet :sad1: Teena and I were on the move.

I have only seen Wishes a few times. The first time was July 2013, when my family did the dessert party at the Tomorrowland Terrace. During the 2015 class trip, we watched some of the fireworks from the Liberty Square area, but the views were not great. And in August 2015, my band of monkeys was treated to a Top of the World view by Nannette, as we watched from the DVC lounge at Bay Lake Tower. Truly magical! But off-center.

I had never watched Wishes from Main Street, with the castle center stage, as it is meant to be seen.

It had been a long day, and we had a long drive back to Teena’s house, but she was willing to stick around for the shows.

Main Street is gorgeous at night, still decked out in holiday finery (on January 8)

We watched the castle projection show, which is simply incredible. Unfortunately, my pictures are not incredible, so here are just a couple of passable ones.

Then, it was time for Wishes. It was awesome, except that I had to keep moving and dodging because tall people kept standing right in front of me.

I know I should just watch the display, but I am compelled to take pictures, which I did with both my point & shoot and my phone. I have a handful of pictures that I am happy with.

Didn't there used to be a castle there???

Wow!!!

We left the park, took the ferry to the TTC and returned back to Teena’s house.

Next Up: The Force is Strong (at exactly the wrong time)

I love the way Main Street looks at Christmas time. All the decor is awesome. Lol on the tree having some patches of lights out.

I'm honestly surprised you've never seen wishes on Main Street. I'd also recommend you try viewing from fantasyland as that has some great views of the fireworks only downside is the castle is to your back.

There is nothing better than watching Wishes from Main Street U.S.A. We watched it from several different locations in the park but on Main Street is the best.

I love your Wishes pictures! Watching from Main Street is so special ... we usually watch from Fantasyland, and while that's pretty amazing, it's definitely a different experience than Main Street.

Keeping my fingers crossed he gets credit for the class!

I can't imagine how magical it will be for you to see/hear your son singing at CP!

Unrelated to your TR, BUT Brandon's itinerary for December changed, so with it I had to change flights and I'm waiting on my TA to change the resort dates....WHYYYYY ;)

LOVE Wishes and love watching it on Main St. we've gotten goodies from the bakery (now Starbucks right) and stayed put right there :)
