Whistle While We Work: January 2016 Bounceback! page 12 10/15

Once again, I'm apologizing for getting behind.

Still trying to get caught up after our trip to Washington and work, middle school Disney trip (FP day is Saturday) theater obligations, health issues with Mark's dad, college payment issues for Nate (they rejected our deposit because it came from a Fidelity account, but sent the email about it to Nate on an account he hadn't activated yet).

Just went through about 15 pages on the FAQ thread.

Man, I have earned every one of my grey hairs!

::yes::

That's a beautiful house! We used to have that Mickey TV as well unfortunately it fell off the place it was sitting and broke.

You are so awesome for helping Teena out!

I think what time is the 3:00 parade is one of my favorite Disney tourist questions.

The house really is beautiful. Her new home is too, based on the pictures I have seen.

They got the keys to the place in Vegas yesterday. They will be moving in slowly over the next couple of months.

I still have that tv. Of course it doesn't have HD or any of the new-fangled cable options. But it does have a VCR slot!

:lmao:

Yes, we (ok, I) pulled the 3:00 parade joke. Coming up in the next update!

:sad2:

What a beautiful home Teena and Bob made together. While I'm sure Teena must miss florida badly I'm equally sure she will create a beautiful new home in Vegas with their girls :)
Love all the Disney touches especially the shower curtain
You are a true friend to help Teena in her time of need :love:and I'm sure your evening of fun was well deserved after all your hard work!:earseek:
Gosh no clue what time the 3 o'clock parade could possibly be at?:confused3

Teena said this was the 3rd or 4th house she has had built. She has such good taste, the design was really well-thought out.

The Disney touches were wonderful. And Teena said she had sold off quite a few things before I arrived. It is clear she has a genuine love for Disney.

::MickeyMo

Teena and Bob had a lovely house. I love the Sandhill cranes. We just get sparrows and Cardinals and other common birds.

Truly beautiful home.

I know, right! The cranes are very cool. We used to live in another home in this town that was very close to a river with Bald Eagles in the winter. We once saw one fly over our house.

:magnify:

What a lovely home Teena and Bob made :grouphug: sorry the cranes were slackers in the packing department Dee, you are the best to help Teena pack  I bet it was great to spend some time with her even under the bittersweet circumstances.

You would think with all the bread she was offering these birds that they would contribute a little bit!

:rotfl2:

What a beautiful home. Too bad Teena couldn't take the cranes to Vegas!

The cranes really meant a lot to Bob and to Teena. I know she misses them. I hope the family in the home will give her updates on how they are doing.

:thumbsup2

Teena's home looks beautiful ... I love all of the Disney touches!

And I'm totally with you on the woodland creatures ... why can't they help with the housework? Things would go so much faster if the stupid squirrels that hang out in my yard could help me clean. It's pretty awesome of you to help Teena out so much (even if you didn't have special crane helpers).

The park icon pictures (Tree of Life, ) in the bathroom were awesome!

I shouldn't gripe about the critters not helping with housework. Heck, I can't even get my boys to help and I feed them almost every day.

Hi Dee I'm here!!
Is that your Toyota Sienna that got hit? My dad drives the exact same car and he also got hit with damage almost identical to yours. Someone was making a wrong turn when my dad had right of way and BAM! My dad's sienna is the same color as yours so I'm looking at it thinking, deja vu!

Your friend Teena has a really lovely home and love all the cute and tasteful Disney touches. That TV is outta this world!! So cute! Where did you guys get it?

Can't wait to hear more!

Yes, my van. My third Sienna. The first one was green and we got it because it was the only van that would fit in my small garage. Then a silver one that I had to get when we moved because our new driveway was sloped and I needed AWD to get up the "hill" when it snowed. This charcoal van was just a year old when it was hit!

I'm not sure where Teena got the TV, but I think we purchased ours at Circuit City (before they went out of business) years ago!

I see that you have moved onto the Disney portion of your TR. I need to catch up on your cruise and then join you there.

:cool2:

Wow! that is freaky about the similarity in accidents.

Hope Mark's dad is okay  and really...a college rejected a payment GRRRRR.....no worries and no apologies busy Momma!

What time is the 3:00 parade?

We left Teena’s house a little before 2. Teena needed gas, so we stopped at a WaWa, Teena purchased a couple of pretzels and I bought a sandwich since I hadn’t really had anything to eat since breakfast.

We approached this beautiful sight!

We parked at the TTC- it has been 4 years since I have been here (Nate’s class trip) and even longer, at least 20 years, since I have taken the ferry

If you noticed from the train station photo, we arrived at 2:35.

We never watch the parade when I am at MK with my family. Teena and I discussed whether we should stay and watch it. We saw a Photopass Photographer, Billy, and asked him what time the 3:00 parade was.

He laughed (politely) and then he and Teena talked shop about working for the Mouse.

Here's Billy

DSCF9526.jpg

I asked him if he would take a couple of pictures of Teena and me.

Festival of Photographs- Continued from Previous Post

Eventually, we saw cars coming down Main Street. There was a procession of vehicles holding soccer players

Then the car with the Grand Marshalls

Now on with the rest of the show!

Since I knew this may be one of the few opportunities to see the parade, I wanted to take lots of pictures:

Love the parade pictures. I've never sat through the afternoon parade. We've been known to watch the night parades, but not the daytime ones.

I also love the ferry ride from the TTC. We took that for the first time two trips ago and loved it. We rode it one night when it was empty and it was so beautiful to stand at the railing and ride up to the MK after dark. I think that ferry ride is now on our list of must do's at least once per trip.

I hope you have good stories for the rest of your day/evening at the MK!

middle school Disney trip (FP day is Saturday)
It is nice of you to help the school out, especially since your kids aren't going on the trip. :)

When we walked onto Main Street, we were shocked to find that the Christmas decorations were still up!
We were surprised, too. It meant that the crane wasn't going to be up, either. ;)

I asked him if he would take a couple of pictures of Teena and me.
That's a great picture of you and Teena. I love her Dole whip shirt. :)

You didn't tell us the answer ... what time was the 3:00 parade?

The pictures of you and Teena look wonderful. And Teena's shirt is awesome! Only a true Disney Parks fan would appreciate that shirt :)

I love all of your parade pictures! I still haven't really taken the time to watch this parade (although I have seen bits of it in passing), but it always looks so beautiful in pictures!

Is it just me, or does Cinderella look like she's giving someone the finger with the wrong finger in this picture?

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:Cinderella is one naughty lady:scared1::scared1::scared1:
I hadn't noticed until you pointed that out! When you look at her facial expression it makes it look even more so:rotfl2:
Mind you given that my middle finger is in a nice purple splint everyone I drive past thinks I'm doing the same thing so Cinders has my sympathy lol

Love the ferry boat to MK Dee. So relaxing. All of your photos are gorgeous but I love the one of you and Teena close up the best. Your friendship shines through. No worries on life diminishing your dis time- we will be here when you're good to go do take it easy and look after yourself too :goodvibes

I haven't taken the ferry since I was like 3 years old. I just love the monorail or we take a bus from the resort. I did run through the TTC in my half marathon this year though.

What time is the 3:00 parade will go down in Disney history as one of the most ridiculous but hilarious questions tourists ask.

Festival of Fantasy is a must in my opinion. The floats are just phenomenal, especially that maleficent float. I also love the sound track for it.

It has been years since we've taken the ferry from the TTC or even been to the TTC. I sure don't miss riding that ferry boat at park closing. Makes me dizzy just thinking about it.

Ahhh, the 3 p.m. parade! We watched it for the first time in a long time this past trip.

I was LOL at the look on her face, maybe she was annoyed with her Prince ;)

I am so glad we watched. It was a great opportunity for both Teena and me to do some things that night that we don't normally do because of our traveling companions (teen boys for me, princessy granddaughter for her).

The ferry ride was good, although I still prefer the monorail.

SPOILER ALERT! It was an amazing night with fantastic friends!

:grouphug:

It is nice of you to help the school out, especially since your kids aren't going on the trip. :)

So they were going to try to get room reservation numbers in advance so they could make FP reservations 60 days out. That didn't happen! Saturday was the 30 day mark and they don't have ticket numbers yet. I set up the email addresses and one of the walking groups. One of the teachers and his wife set up the other 9 groups Saturday. As soon as we get ticket numbers, we will be ready to rock and roll!

That's a great picture of you and Teena. I love her Dole whip shirt. :)

I treasure this picture, too. Visiting MK with my friends was just like being with my teens. Nobody wanted to stop for photos.

:sad2:

We were surprised, too. It meant that the crane wasn't going to be up, either. ;)

I'm glad the only cranes I saw were at Teena's house.

Oh, darn!!! I forgot to pay attention to when the 3:00 parade was!

Teena's shirt is definitely great, she got a few comments that night.

The parade was a fun one to photograph. So colorful.

Speaking of colorful, you are right, seems like maybe Cindy is a little fed up!

You would fit right in here in Boston.

The one-finger salute is used more frequently while driving than turn signals are.

Since we are usually staying on property, the ferry boat is not usually necessary. But I really enjoyed taking it, and taking it back as well.

I see pictures from the ferry once in a while in trip reports and I think "What a great view as you are approaching MK"

It's a great question!

Festival of Fantasy was certainly beautiful. The floats are incredible.

Love Malicifent- my second favorite theme-park dragon.

Another Attraction I Haven't Visited in Years!

After the parade finished up, we had around 40 minutes or so before our first Fast Pass and more importantly, our meeting with a friend.

This was what we had scheduled for the evening:

Haunted Mansion ... 4:20-5:20
Peter Pan ... 5:30-6:30
Pirates .. 6:30-7:30

On our way, we passed by the beautiful plaza area

DSCF9616.jpg

DSCF9618.jpg

I love this view of the castle

DSCF9619.jpg

DSCF9620.jpg

One of the really neat things about this visit to the Magic Kingdom is that for both of us, we were able to do some things that our regular traveling companions (granddaughter, teen boys) aren’t interested in.

Teena suggested Hall of Presidents.

WP_20160108_036.jpg

I haven’t been to that attraction in years- at least 20, maybe more.

We went into the preshow area and I looked around a bit. I took this picture and sent it to Nate.

WP_20160108_037.jpg

I have a little confession to make. My oldest son Nate has been hanging around with a really bad crowd at school. It’s a little embarrassing, because he sure wasn’t raised this way.

He has been influenced by some friends, and a teacher, who are

CONSERVATIVE!

:duck:

This election season has been very interesting. Nate has CNN on constantly and has followed all of the presidential candidates’ debates from both parties since last summer. I may not agree with a lot of Nate’s political views, but I certainly respect how well informed he is. The candidate he was supporting, Rand Paul, dropped out before Nate had a chance to vote for him, and it is scary to him (as well as all of us) to be facing the choices it appears we will have in November.

That is all I will say on this controversial topic, except that I can’t picture any of 3 candidates currently running giving the speech as the incumbent president at the end of the Hall of Presidents show next year.

:scared1:

I enjoyed seeing the Hall of Presidents show, the video was good and the animatronics are incredible!

This was certainly a nice appetizer for my April trip to Washington, DC!

I took one photo during the show

DSCF9623.jpg

When we were done, I insisted that Teena take my picture in the stockades. My boys are not good sports about stopping for pictures, so this was a good opportunity. She was a little surprised by my silliness.

DSCF9625.jpg

It was time to meet up with a friend.

:woohoo:

Another reason the timing of my visit was great is that JanetMom was there at the same time, this was the last night of her trip and she agreed to meet us in MK.

Since JanetMom hails from Canada, eh, and knowing she wouldn’t be accessible by phone, we had a suggestion from the always helpful ~Ninjamom about how to locate Janet once we got to MK. I can’t argue with her methods- this actually worked in Stormalong Bay when ~Ninja and Rebecca were trying to find Nannette this past summer.

I can't wait to hear about your trip!

To find people via the "Ninja Mom Tarzan yell" you have to have the lungs for it. It's not for amateurs and those people using inhalers should take double the number of puffs before attempting the yell. Do not attempt the Tarzan yell if you feel faint. Do not consume alcohol while yelling; likewise, avoid red meat, shellfish, and vegetables as these can suddenly be expelled from your mouth as you yell. Yelling for Nannette is 3 times more likely to produce results. Yelling for a phone book or a room clock will not provide satisfactory results.

When yelling, bowel movements may become frequent-in fact, every ten minutes. If bowel movements become greater than four per hour, consult your doctor, or just anyone who will speak to you and pretend they are a doctor. Do not go near the pool when yelling. See the first sentence in this paragraph for an explanation.

If a fungus starts to grow between your eyebrows stop yelling and consult a psychic. Stop yelling if you feel that your teeth are receiving radio broadcasts. Yelling for people has been known to cause pantyhose to spontaneously run. If your pantyhose run while yelling for God's sake run after them and catch them!

Yelling for longer than an hour may cause joint pain, nausea, head-ache, or shortness of breath. You may also experience muscle aches, rapid heartbeat, and ringing in the ears. The people near you while you are yelling will feel worse.

You can get style points for yelling for people.

10 points if you fart "a little" while yelling.

15 points if your pantyhose or the pantyhose of a person in your vicinity runs.

25 points if a stranger starts to yell with you

50 points if a stranger with the same name as you are yelling comes over to see what all the fuss is about.

100 points if security is called but you can out run them

1000 points if the person you are randomly yelling for actually shows up in 3 yells or less

~NM

Here’s JanetMom’s response and a short summary of our time together. I will, of course, go into more detail!

With pictures!

We had a great time tonight. I saw Teena and Dee before they had to shout my name. We rode some rides, ate some food and had some laughs. It was a great way to spend my last night at WDW. I'll write more thoughts when we get home, but for now I can say we've had a great week and tonight was a highlight. upload_2016-5-18_10-2-37.png

As Janetmom indicates, we didn’t have to employ the ~NinjaMom Tarzan Yell to locate her. When we knew we were meeting up in the park we synchronized our Fast Passes and planned to meet up near Haunted Mansion.
