Is one meal better than the others for all the fun antics I've heard about at WC? Breakfast or lunch would work better for us, but if dinner is more fun, we'll do that. Any thought would be appreciated!

I've been for all three meal. I think dinner is the most crazy. Breakfast was second. Lunch was most quiet. It also depend on the server. Also ask for ketchup.

What antics? I've missed this one... still trying to find a restaurant for the evening of our wedding (9 of us and bridal attire)...

I need to know this too...I am trying to get a PS there and was checking Deb's site for the menu list and noticed at the bottom all these "strange" things to do??? What is up with this place? Good for ds4 & dd2.5?

Thanks for any help!

I've never been and was wondering the same thing. I saw this on another thread. Check this thread out http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=773269&page=1&pp=15

There is one picture of a little boy surrounded by tons of bottles of ketchup and gallon size cups of soda. I guess this is what they do when you ask for ketchup or more soda???? I wonder what other fun antics there are.

If you want the most rowdiness, then dinner is your best bet. I find that generally breakfast is the most quiet, then lunch gets a bit noisy, but dinner is the noisiest of them all.

As far as antics go, if you do a search on Whispering Canyon you'll learn quickly what antics they do.

Rosiejo: I saw a wedding party one time at WCC - they were having so much fun! Another place I saw a wedding party was at Kona Cafe at the Poly. That group had about 10-12 people and they gave them a nice big table out of the way of the everyone else, meanwhile the party at WCC got a table in the middle of the room and they were having a blast.

When we ate lunch at WC three years ago, we struck up a conversation with the people near us. When the waiter realized how animated my conversation with the new friend was (we were both teachers), he put us all at one table and stuck a 2-foot tall gnome statue between the two teachers! My children were nearly rolling on the floor. :rotfl2:

My daughters especially love the kids' race around the dining room with the hobby horses.

For those of you wondering about the antics in WC, the idea is that the servers really act like big kids: tossing straws, yelling across the room, serving up countless bottles of ketchup, making note of someone leaving to go to the restroom, getting dads to stand up and do a little song and dance number together, etc. It can be rowdy, but in a family-oriented way, naturally.

That being said, my family and I have been to WC twice in the past year and both times were left wanting in terms of service, food quality, and the rowdiness factor. I suspect most of the posters you'll find on here who have been there would disagree with me about all the above, so perhaps we've just caught the wrong servers when we went, and both times it was for dinner for those keeping score at home. Neither time was our server getting into the spirit of the place. Neither time did we get very good service (having to flag down your server for refills, undelivered food, and the check qualifies as bad service to me). And neither time did we feel the quality of food was anything more than mediocre cafeteria food (we did a la carte the first time, the all-you-care-to-eat skillet meal the second).

Still, you won't know what it's like until you try the place out. However, just be forewarned--as with any dining establishment you read about on here--that your experience will vary depending on several factors. Bon apetit!

We ate here on our first night and were seated in a quiet area outside the main dining room. This was disappointing as all of the 'antics' took place in the main room. Thank goodness I had not told my kids about this place beforehand or they too would have been disappointed. They could hear everything from where we were sitting though. My DH actually preferred this area as he was hungry and wanted to enjoy his meal.
That being said, we really enjoyed the all-you-can-eat skillet and we will eat there again but only because we are planning on staying at WL. We wouldn't make an effort to eat there if we were staying elsewhere.
