Whispering Canyon- will this work?

The only opening they had for Sept 25 was a 6:50 spot for our table of 5. I REALLY wanted something around 5. If we show up at 5 could we just sweetly ask if we can be there that early? We will be at Animal Kingdom. I guess the time COULD work if we get tired and leave the park at 3 to just rest and then do the reservations, but it looks like this place can run behind. So what would you do?

I have shown up for an ADR an hour early. It was at LeCellier and it had begun to rain so we just went to the restaurant to wait. The hostess told us that we would probably have to wait for our ADR time but that was okay with us. Somebody didn't show up for their ADR so they took us in after about 20 minutes. It never hurts to ask.

Even if you aren't able to get in that early, you could still look around the Wilderness Lodge and shop in their store. I have heard that there are lots of Hidden Mickeys at the WL and you can pick up a list at the front desk. That could help pass the time.

Well if it was not during free dining I would say your chances of getting in at 5 would be excellent...but if that is still during free dining all bets are off. If you would not be totally bummed if you got there at 5 and they said "oh sorry, we do not have anything available until your PS time" then give it a try at 5...you all could always explore a little around the resort, or go out to the dock and ride the launch around Bay Lake (the one that goes to WL, Contemp and Ft Wilderness is quite a nice boat ride in an open boat).
And if you get tired of waiting you could always get off the boat at Ft WIlderness and just go to Trails End for dinner!!

If you want to play it safe then go back to your room and nap until the PS time and then be prepared to wait a while for a table.

If you are going to be a walk up anytime I think being there right when they open for the evening would give you the best chance of getting in.

Last year I called everyday to change our ressie at WCC. We has an 8:00 ressie (too late), we decided to go hang out in the Territory Lounge and walk around the WL, the kids love to pin trade there (we used to stay at the WL every year). So, when we got there DH said he was going to check in the restaurant to give them a heads up incase anything opens, (this was at 5:30) a 1/2 an hour later we were sitting. BTW the ressie was for 10!!!

Good luck, I hope it works out for you. Honestly it is a great hotel to hang out in. There is the Territory Lounge, a game room, a gift shop, pin trading cart and the coziest lobby to hang out in!!

Same thing for us, last year we had late ressies at Ohana we actually showed up a few hours early since it was nasty out and we were tired. DH checked in at the podium and they said it was unlikely to get seated before our ADR time, but they would ring us if anything opened. We did wait for quite a while but we were eventually seated a couple of hours before our alloted time. I say give it a try you never know.

WC is very nice (at least my experience with them was). We had reservations one night for @ 7 but wanted to go later and they said that'd be fine. We went in and sat right down. This was early August. So many people make ressies and don't show so you shouldn't have a problem. Good Luck!
