Whispering canyon reviews

love it better than most wdw dining to me. last week was great but it is hit or miss sometimes

we had breakfast there last saturday. It was not crowded for breakfast. I never saw a lot of diners there in the morning. My DH and I shared the skillet breakfast which has biscuits, mickey waffles, egges, bacon, sausage, pancakes. Just about any breakfast food item you can think of. It was fillling but nothing grand. The kids had pancakes. they did the stick pony race which is very cute and the kids enjoyed that. Besides that I would not go out of my way to have a meal here. Its fine if you are already staying at the WL.

We ate here Tuesday night. It was by far the worst meal we had a WDW in 4 years. Three out of 4 of us had the skillet. The skillet meat was very greasy. I had two bites and that's it. The mashed potatoes were hard! My DS had the rib eye, which he said was good. The milk shakes were okay, but it couldn't make up for the bad food. The antics were okay. I was expecting a lot different from what I read about this restaurant.

Food not very good at all. Entertainment level was great for the kids. I did find that my normally well behaved children while eating out became little demons with the antics:rolleyes1-took forever to calm down after dinner, and then tried to pull the same stuff the next day at breakfast. Young children (at least mine) had a hard time being allowed to do "fun" things one meal and understanding that it was a special occassion that they got to do those things. ie throwing rolls across the table, straws, asking for ketchup a bajillion times, not saying please and thank you but now...they were following the waiters lead.

It's just ok. We ate there for lunch on Wed. The service was slow but that's because there were only like 5 servers for the whole place. The food wasn't the best....however, the chocolate cake is great!!!!

I thought it was incredible, amazing, awesome, fabulous, etc. I wish I was there now. MMM sooooo good. I had the skillet. The ribs yummy, the chicken moist, the brisket sooo tender, the pork delicious, great mashed potatoes, sweet corn, fluffy corn bread. Oh so good! (the only exception was the dessert the cheesecake was too dry)
:thumbsup2

I think you should absoultly try it I don't think you'll be disappointed.

:thumbsup2
We have had dinner here multiple times and have enjoyed each experiance. It is a casual, fun family type of place. If you don't want to do a cab ride from ASMu to the WL maybe plan it as dinner on your MK and then you can take the boat from the MK over to the WL for dinner and then you can take the boat back to the MK for the evening or to catch the bus back to the ASMu.
:thumbsup2
Don't forget to ask for ketchup:rotfl2:
:rotfl2:or extra straws!

Had dinner there on the 17th. It was a lot of fun. Our server was young and playful, and helped us get with the ketchup prank. Cornbread was spectacular and fries were great. I would definitely eat there again.

We are in the category of love it! We thought the food was delicious (especially the chicken and bottomless shakes) and our server was awesome. She was playful and fun but not to the point where it was obnoxious.

I'd say go there and judge for yourself. I heard mixed reviews as well, but until you go you won't really know. Only your family can judge if its right for you!

We loved it. We were there for breakfast this past June and the breakfast skillet is great. Maybe we just got lucky and had a good waitress but I did see other waitresses getting into character as well. Ours was so good we couldnlt tell if she was really back0woods crazy or just having fun. We will definitely be back.

:thumbsup2
we ate there in '07 for breakfastand had a great time!! My son was on a special diet and every time the chef came out to talk to us the waitress would begin singing "somethin' in the kitchen is burnin"...all because the chef's out here."
It was also my b-day so the waitress had me ride a hobby horse around the restaurant and sing hapy b-day to myself!!!

On the flip side, we ate there for lunch last Sept. and it was rather uneventful and the food was disappointing.

We really enjoyed it... love the shakes :thumbsup2

Add us to the list of Thumbs up. Our fav. non character breakfast.
Love the skillet and milk shakes.

The way I see it your like and dislike of it will depend on your personality, you need to chill and have fun. If you want a fine dining serious experience you won't like it.
Kind of like 50's Prime time, if your not willing to play along, you won't enjoy it.

I was hesitant to try WCC because the reviews were so mixed...We went and it was just ok...not great..not good...just ok.
So....we decided to try again. Well, we won't be going there anytime soon. There are many, many better places to go, especially if you aren't staying there and making a special trip there just for the restaurant. Of course, this is just the opinion of myself and my family and friends who have been there.

We had about the same experience. Is it worth going out of your way for it? Well, personally, I wouldn't eat here again if I were staying at WL. DH wants to give it another try someday, he thinks maybe we hit it on an "off" night; I'm not willing to take that risk. Even my margarita was bad...how do you mess up a margarita?! I'd rather have a QS meal at Roaring Fork...or have root canal!

ETA: We were MORE than willing to play along. Our server wasn't all that playful, and though we were there for 90 minutes, no pony express for us! We were trying to wait it out, but just couldn't take it anymore!

Can anyone tell me if the Whispering Canyon rest. at WL is as great as they say. Is it worth the ride from ASMu to eat there with family?:confused3

We stayed at CSR and drove over for dinner and thought it was very good-- not great, but worth trying. And we wanted to see WL anyway (plus we got some of the best Photopass pix of the entire trip taken by the photographer in the lobby). We had eaten at Ohana the night before so were not totally disappointed when they seated us far in the back (nearly in the WL lobby) instead of the main room, but the downside (or upside!) was we missed out on some of the antics. We were pretty tired so didn't care. But we did get in on the ketchup thing, which you won't like if you aren't feeling in a somewhat silly mood. Our server was pretty lowkey as well and went easy on DW when she needed a straw. Shakes and smoothies were good, BBQ was good, and we got dessert packaged up to go.

Not sure we'd make a special trip to go there next time, but it was definitely worth trying! Have fun! popcorn::
