Whispering Canyon - Recent experiences with noise?

I would really like to try schedule a breakfast at Whispering Canyon during our Sept stay at WL. However, not only does DH really NOT enjoy loud restaurants I have to consider DS as well. He is on the autism scale and has always struggled with loud noises/places.

I've looked and looked for reviews on what it is really like now and just keep getting conflicting info. Some people love it, some hate it - sometimes for the same reasons! Some say it's quiet now, some say it's loud and your waitress screams at you. Not something I would care for either. A little bit of horseplay/good fun sounds great but anything too intense is probably something we need to avoid.

Was wondering if anyone has visited recently and can give me an opinion?

My sister really wanted to eat here as she remembers enjoying it from our last trip together as kids. We don't recall it being obnoxious at all and I know we did a breakfast. But I do not want to start the day out with a bad experience either.

As of now I was thinking of making an ADR for middle of trip and kind of scoping it out from the lobby as we pass through to see how crazy it is. Could always cancel ADR and have a backup option in mind or try to snag a last minute one elsewhere.

I was also wondering if I could talk to the staff about DS sensitivities and request that our server go easy on us? If I go that route I wonder if you just have to talk to them when you get there or if there is an overall manager I could talk to ahead of time? Probably not, just a thought!

What do you guys think?

We have gone several times with DS who is on the spectrum. For whatever reason this is one of the places he cracks up about. We just make sure we bring his headphones that he always have and he is good. He loves the BBQ meal for lunch or dinner tho so we have never gone for breakfast. Unfortunately, what he tolerates/enjoys can change without notice though so it's always something of a surprise how he does. We do have it scheduled again for our upcoming trip in April.
We have never had to ask the servers to tone it down but all it would take is a quick word with them and they will comply at your table anyway.
Hope this helps!

WCC for dinner is LOUD. The waitress had to YELL to tell us anything over the background noise of the hobby horse race, and then the ketchup transfer. We gave up trying to have a conversation at the table, because we couldn't hear each other speak.

I haven't been there for breakfast, so I can't comment on that.

If you make a reservation for later in the evening say past 7:30 helps a lot. Ask to be in the back room past the fireplace, it seems a lot quieter. Also explain your situation to a CM they will tone it down for you.

We had breakfast there maybe, 2 months ago? The place was 75% empty so it was very quiet. We had an 8:30am reservation.

Around 9:30am, when we were heading out, it started to fill to about half.

Honestly, it will vary, but they have restored the ketchup and other fun back, so it will be noisier than it was a couple of months ago.

Your Husband really does not enjoy loud restaurants. Your Kid is on the spectrum and struggles with loud places. Why on earth would you book there?

Sis wants to go there - is she completely insensitive to your spouse and kid?

If it’s loud, your spouse and kid probably won’t like it. If it’s quiet, your sister probably won’t like it. (I’m assuming that the reason she liked it was the shenanigans, not the food.)

My vote is to eat elsewhere.

Actually the earlier you eat there for breakfast, the quieter it is. I think they try to keep it down for a while until people in the rooms above start waking up. You can also flip the coaster to a quieter experience, for your table at least.

That's been my experience too. We always stay at WL and have breakfast at WCC at least once per trip, usually around 8:00-8:30. It's never been very loud when we've been there at that time, but it definitely gets louder as the day goes on.

If I recall correctly, they no longer have the coasters which you could use to indicate whether or not you wanted to be involved in the shenanigans.

I did not see coasters on the table at breakfast in November. We go when they first open and there are some antics but it is not too loud.

We've been for breakfast several times. It's always been on the quieter side. We usually have a large group so our server will engage in the typical antics, but it's more or less jut jokes. I agree that the earlier you go for breakfast the quieter it seems to be.

We had a 7:30 AM ADR this past fall and it was totally quiet. There were only about 10 tables booked at that time of the morning.

Thank you so much to all for the info! It is very helpful! I think we'll shoot for an 8:30AM ADR - maybe 8AM - to have a better chance of a quieter time of it. And I'll still watch/observe as we walk through the lobby on earlier mornings in our trip to see if things seem calmer in the early time frame.

The idea of being able to eat a sit down breakfast right in our hotel is tempting enough to try it this way. And if we get there and it seems really loud even very early in the morning I will just cancel the ADR - or let DSis and her BF still go. I feel like we have a pretty good chance of a quiet meal with an early breakfast so fingers crossed!!!
