Whispering Canyon Cafe

No, the skillet price for children is cheaper...around 10.00, I think. It came with the meal plan, so I can't remember exactly. It was about the same price as the other children's meals (plus 2.00).

After reading all of the good reveiws on the disboards. I was expecting it to be really good. However that was not our experience. I wished it was a good but it was not. We even ate there a second time thinking maybe the first time was just a bad night. It wasn't!

I ate dinner there last Wednesday night. I was by myself and was seated in the section behind the large dinning area. I wish I could say I had fun, but from where I was, it was just another restaurant. My waitress seemed to be more concerned with what was going on in the large dinning area. I asked her for butter for my potato (don't like sour cream), never got it until after I had finished my meal. Same with a soda refill. But the cornbread was out of this world!

Although I couldn't see what was happening up front, I could hear all of it. People where always yelling "who has ketchup?". It probably would have been fun if it wasn't just me or if I was in the front room.

The food (prime rib) was very good, but the service ruined it for me.

I just made ADR's for our party of 8 for breakfast. Is it as rowdy at 8:40 in the morning? I wanted to eat dinner there but the menu didn't look good for my kids. I wonder if I can call and request the main dining area? The funny thing is my mom & aunt will probably have more fun than my kids!!

We love WCC!!!! The restaurant is loud and obnoxious and just plain fun. The food is wonderful if you decide to go, try the skillet!

I am so excited. I just made ressies tonight for DH & I during our vacation in April. We're staying at the WL so we wanted to eat in the hotel our first night & we loved WCC 2 years ago when we ate there. Now I really can't wait to go back!! princess:

This is a dumb question, but do you only get the cornbread if you order the skillet? Or does it come to the table before your meal like regular bread at most restaurants?

My DS was 7, he had a blast running around table to table with ketchup bottles! KETCHUP!!!!

It was a fun time and the food was good too! In the waiting area was a huge table full of Lincoln Logs the kids could play with while waiting for the table. I had to pry him away from these both before and after dinner. Santa wound up bringing him a set for Christmas as a result.

What was it that you didn't like?

Another quick question...once you ask for ketchup and you end up with 20 bottles at your table, do they just leave them all there? Or does someone come and take them?

We go there everyime. It was recommended by a co-worker of mine who gave us Disney Dollars to eat there as our wedding gift. (We obviously went there for our honeymoon!)

The times we have gone were fun. They only mess with you as much as you can take it.

Some meals are more entertaining than others.

We learned the first time not to ask for ketchup unless you want a little abuse, but it is no big deal. The last trip, they gave my brother a drink in a HUGE mason jar because he kept drinking what they gave him.

Then I kept getting refills and the waiter made me get up and get it myself while he yelled out to the whole place. It is really no big deal because everyone is in it together and they really will leave you alone if you get annoyed.

The food is great. I would either get the all-you-can-eat skillet or the ribs. One tip. If you have more than two people getting the skillet, make sure to ask them to bring one one of whichever item you want.

Three of us got it and they only had two chicken pieces, rib pieces, etc so we had to wait awhile for someone to get their first serving. There was enough to eat while waiting, however.

As far as the ketchup goes, they will get them as soon as someone else asks for ketchup which is usually 2 minutes. They even get all the kids in the place to help move the bottles.

Hope this helps.

we're going to WCC for our first day's lunch and celebrating ds's bday...can't wait! i do have a question tho...does everyone at the table have to order the skillet or can just some of us. i think my one dd would prob prefer something else off the menu.

Nope, whomever wants the skillet can order the skillet. Everyone else can order an entree.

We were there for the first time in January. DS (10) loved it. The food was OK. It's not of Boma quality but the skillet is all you can eat so you get a LOT and I think you're really going more for the fun & atmosphere.

We didn't ask for ketchup but this little boy at the next table brought a couple bottles over & put them on our table & then went & sat back down at his table...he then proceeded to tell our server that DS STOLE it!!:rotfl2: Next thing ya know they brought out this big "JAIL" prop thing with bars on it and set it on the table in front of DS!! They put thieves in jail there he said!:lmao: It was pretty funny! I think people having a birthday dinner got a lot of ribbing & abuse too! :thumbsup2 It's a fun place to go to!

I ate there on 3/23 and it was our least favorite meal of the trip. My dad was the only one who liked his dinner and it was the skillet! I will say that the potatoes and cornbread from his skillet were good, but I did not enjoy my meal. My mom ordered the same thing as I did, Vegetable Enchilada, and my brother got the peel and eat shrimp, which he didn't really like all that much. Also, our sever was HARDLY ever around and we were seated allllll the way in the back. We overheard the waitress in the next section and she was really funny! I guess its luck of the draw as far as where you are seated and who is your server! Hopefully you have a good time!

I'm sorry that you didn't get to enjoy your meal there. I guess I better cross my fingers for a funny server and good food! Hopefully we'll be able to enjoy ourselves. Thanks for letting us know!
