Hello :sunny:

We are staying on-site at POR for our first trip to WDW :goodvibes . We have 3 boys ages 11, 8 and 4 and are thinking of trying this rest. based on all the good reviews here. My question is, would it be better to take Disney transportation from a park or drive there? Not sure how much time to plan to get there and back or if we should do breakfast or dinner. Here's our schedule so far:

T - AK (Flame Tree for lunch)
W - MK (LTT dinner)
R - MGM (Sci Fi for lunch)/undecided for dinner - currently have Fantasmic pkg for H&V but may change now that we got free dining plan; could do 50's Prime Time :confused3
F - MK (The Plaza Rest. dinner)

I may change things around a bit but need some advice first to maximize our times in the parks and still get nice sit-down dinners. Thanks!

Are you planning on being in MK the day you eat at whispering canyon?
If so, just take the boat over to WL.

If you will be in your hotel prior to dinner, absolutely take the car

Not sure, that's why I was asking. It sounds like the WCC would be closest to MK transportation(?) If we're doing the AK would it be unreasonable to try to go there for dinner and then back to the AK for the extra evening hours? I have no clue as we've never been to WDW! Thanks!

If you're taking a break from touring MK, you can just take the boat back and forth. Also, if you're going from one park to another, the buses would work just fine. However, if you're leaving from or returning to POR, it would be much easier to drive since you'd have to switch transportation along the way.

Yes, WCC is at WL which is considered a MK resort - just a quick boat ride away from the park. If you are coming from AK by Disney bus, I would give at least an hour each way to get to and from. It took us over an hour to get from WL to MGM one night by bus. We usually always drive but chose not to that one night and regretted it! You might get lucky and walk up when a bus is there at AK to take you to WL but you might have to wait 20 minutes for one, too. Just depends. Same with heading back, could be 20-30 minutes before a bus comes to take you back.

If you have a car, I would DEF drive if you want to do AK after dinner, then you can return quickly. Free parking at both the resort and the park, and parking at WL isn't usually too far away.

Good luck!

We just returned from a stay at WL. Most trips from WL to MK took at least 30-45 minutes. Half the time the boat would go from MK to FW first, and then the WL. My boys, 3 and 10, loved WCC. It is definitely a have fun restaurant.

AK parking lot isn't as massive as the ones for MK and Epcot, so if you drove there, spent the day, then to Whispering Canyon and back to AK, you would be ok. We ate there and had a great time, the food was ok, not great, but the place was fun. We had 7:15 PS and it took us about 2 hours to get through our meal with all the entertainment they had. We drove to WL from AKL for our meal. We drove to all the resorts when we at there and then took Disney transport back to the parks if we were going to a park, but we would have driven back to AKL if we were going to go back to AK.

Thanks, golfgal, how long did it take you to drive from the AKL to WL?

It was about 15 minutes to drive. We left our room about 45 minutes before our PS time, got out to the parking lot at AKL, drove to WL, parked and walked into the WC about 10 minutes before our PS time. We were seated right at our PS time. The WL parking lot was pretty full when we got there.
