I have two small children. Almost 3years and 6 months if we decide to go. My big issue is where to stay?

We would really like to go at the end of May in addition we would also like to stay at the Poly. HOWEVER, the Poly is much cheaper in July than it is in May. The only reason we are thinking about May is because my mother really wants to go in May.

Would you go in May and stay at POFQ to avoid the heat and crowds and save about 1K ? or would you go in July and stay at the Poly? Since we have two small children I am leaning towards July....

Is the heat really that bad in July?

By the way we got the 7 for 4 deal....

If my kids were that little, I would go with the Poly. They will want to be at the MK for the most part, so the momorail will be a lifesaver. You can go in the morning and relax by the pool in the afternoon when it gets really hot. The zero entry pool and beach at the Poly would be wonderful for the kids. We've stayed at the POFQ in May and had an awesome time. Enjoy whichever you decide.

Maybe I should just bite the bullet and pay regular season in May for Poly... I think with children this little the resort is important because we will be spending a lot of time there...

Oh what to do? I just hate spending the extra money for Poly... but from what I heard it's worth the extra money...

I may be in the minority here but never again would I go in the summer. We went last summer and the heat and humidty were almost too much to take. My kids were 3 & 6 and even they were getting cranky (I should say crankier ) ;) We have gone in May many times and love it and also Nov/Dec and love that time too. My kids love the POly but honestly would be happy just about anywhere.

DH and I have been to WDW in the summer, but never take our kids. It's way to hot. We can barely stand it ourselves.

How about the WL? It's just a short boat ride to the MK. You can get an excellent rate with the new codes that our out. We are paying $124 a nite w/ AP in June.

The Polynesian would be my choice, maybe your mom could share some of the expenses,if not Wilderness lodge is great too, with the codes out ,you can get a good deal at both places.Certainly if POFQ is your only choice ,you will love it too.I just liked my kids to see the castle while they swim at the poly ,and of course hopping on and off the little boat and monorail to and from the MK is a wonderful option too. :sunny:

The only reason I am leaning towards the Poly is for the Monorail access and zero entry pool... and of course the tropical theme...

I have thought about the WL and I'm considering that as well... Does WL have zero entry?

I had the same problem that you are having... small child and indecision as to where we should stay.

We decided to go with the WL. No, the WL does NOT have a zero entry pool, but the pool does look nice and from what I hear it is beautiful and hopefully my ds will love the atmosphere and theming. With that said, I have seriously considered changing my ressie and going with the Poly because of the zero entry pool and the water area for toddlers. My dh refuses to allow me to change my mind again... he is getting fed up with my disney resort craze.

I like the idea of the boat ride to the MK as my son loves the water and will really enjoy the boat ride itself.

I think the Poly looks wonderful, but I have read some reviews about the rooms being "dated" and the feel of the resort is very 70's. Oh the agony of it all. We will just have to plan another trip down the road and stay at the Poly.

Well, I'm sure I did not help you at all. Good luck!!

Oh I forgot to mention my son is obessed with trains... Another reason I really want to have monorail access for him... When we mention going to Disney all he says "to ride the wooowoo"

Thank you for your opinions...... I am sure I won't be disappointed regardless where we decide to stay if we go...

I'd definately pick May over July. July is just too hot and humid,esp.w/little ones.I'd also suggest WL. We stayed there last May(my kids were 7 and 3)and it was great. you can request a bunk bed. You can still ride the monorail,,you just take the boat to the contemporary and get on there. You can also take the boat to the campground and do thepony rides. The pool doesn't have zero entry, but there is a kiddie pool and it is very close to the regular pool. I like the food court area(technically its not a food court like at PORQ),but they do have a wide variety to choose from. Nothing against the poly,,but saving 1K is alot of $. FQ is also nice, the pool is fun and the play area is very nice.I'd just avoid July. hot, humid, rainy and little kids isn't the best combination.

I would also pick May, with children as young yours...while the WL doesn't have zero entry pool it does have a great Kiddie pool.

Definately choose may! I usually go in May, but last year my daughter was born in may and my husband insisted that taking a 2 week old infant was NOT a good idea.;) So, we went in early August. I'm guessing that July weather would be comparable to August. My DH was miserable, the heat/humidity was unbelievable! If you can, take your trip in May.

As far as hotels go, the monorail convenience is nice, however it does come at a price. I would recommend WL. Pool is great, boat ride to MK very convenient, you can rent bikes to take you to FW to see the petting zoo (my son rode the pony, Calico, and loved it!) Also, since WL has the villas nearby, their "store" in the lobby is more well stocked. I drink ALOT of milk and I was able to buy half gallons($2) there, where as Poly I was forced to buy a half dozen pints ($1.25 I think).

I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever you decide, have fun!

I have to agree with the May-sayers. It might be worth the extra cost to keep the kids out of the heat. I went in early June last year and it was miserable (I think we had some unseasonably hot days). It was worse at Epcot because it is more spread out, with less shade and cool down spots. You might be ok at the MK, though.
Good luck with your decision! :wave2:

DEFINETLY go in May. I went two years ago in June, unbearably hot. We were miserable before we even entered the park! Had to carry the waterbottle-spray mist thing and that didn't help at all. In my opinion, you are spending a lot of money to enjoy yourself and I think the weather needs to play a big part in your decision. All Disney resorts are great and I don't think the monorail should be so all important. Your DS can always take a ride anyway. Good Luck in your decision!::MinnieMo

We've been to Disney in early May and in late August. The weather was beautiful in May and very hot and humid in August. I would go in May and stay at POFQ.

Wow, thank you for all the wonderful advice. We are definately leaning towards May and who knows Poly might not even be available after all these discounts are taken... :)

I guess you can say my son is also obsessed with buses... :p

I'm in the minority here but DH and I were there last July and didn't think the heat was all that bad. Of course we also live in Kentucky where the humidity is so bad all summer that you feel like you can cut the air with a knife.;) So we may not have noticed the heat. We also didn't have any little ones . .

I have been reading the boards today and it seems that most people got WL, Poly& POFQ. Is this usually the norm? Does GF & CR towers discount their rooms? Or will they discount later. Do you think they only discount a few resorts at a time? How does this work? Will all the rooms with codes be mostly gone after today? We are not going until next spring so I need your expert advice. Thanks for your help.
