DH and I each have a 2 day hopper and a one day MK ticket and were doing AK/HS one day and E/MK another. We have a 1 day MK ticket also. Which would you choose:

1) 3 nights in Kidani savanna view studio followed by 3 nights lake view studio (BOTH OF WHICH DH HAS NEVER STAYED IN)

OR

2) 6 nights BWV 1 bedroom standard view (which we have stayed at before and like the location)

ETA, sorry - lake view is at BLT. I added a 3rd option because I forgot that the other choice is 6 nights in a studio at BLT.

I'd love to hear reasons, too!
Thanks!:)

1 Bedrooms are so nice for a couple. We love the amenities of a 1 bedroom (over a studio) and at the BWV, you can walk to 2 parks. But you know all that, LOL.

Know that I hate to move - because it means we're homeless for a good portion of the day. We like to do something first thing, rest in the afternoons and then go out for the evening. Also, with the split stays, you have to pack and unpack more than once & make arrangements for your luggage on move day. All doable, but I'd rather be doing something else, LOL.

If I had a car I would do the split stay, if not, we would stay at BWV. With a car at my disposal, I do not feel homeless!

Personally I hate to pack and would just stay put somewhere for that short of a trip. We did a 50/50 split last summer between BCV and AKV Jambo - but we were there for 10 nights so we had 5 nights at each before moving. But since I hate packing I packed the 3 of us in 1 large duffle for each resort (plus a couple of smaller carry-on size bags). It meant less hassle for moving day but was more pre-planning before the trip. Having or not having a car has no bearing for me (we'd have Bell Services transfer the luggage). At the same time we never splurge on 1-bedrooms even for 3 people unless a studio is not available…it's the only way to manage (maximize) our meager point allotment. You don't say Lake View at which resort BUT for poll purposes tho since we're not fans of moving nor of Kidani Village I'm voting for the BWV...

OH, well, then I will change my vote to the 6 nights at BLT. The studios at BLT are good for 2 people, convenient, you won't have to pack up & move AND it would let you try out a new resort that your DH has never tried before. :flower:

we had the same decision our next trip and chose the BLT LV 1bdr and the first night BLT Std studio. We figure the first day is not big deal then the rest of the week is in a 1bdr, same resort so it makes a move easy

I might lean option 1 if it were Jambo/BLT.

I wound up choosing BLT only, but BWV is not a bad choice, either ;)

For me 6 nights is too short of a trip to do a split stay, I feel like we lose a day when switching resorts.

I do love the space of a 1 bedroom. DW and I love the Boardwalk area and really enjoy walking into Epcot at night for dinner or dessert.

If it were just DH and I...I'd prefer the split studios between AKV and BLT. Savannah view at AKV is one of our favorites and a BLT studio for a couple is kinda nice (I love the layout). walking to MK the 2 days and monorail to Epcot as well. Do the AK/HS while at AKV. My limit for splits is at least 3 days. It's not so bad to move when it's just 2 adults. Now, my DH would probably vote for the 1BR at BWV for all 6 nights as he isn't as into split stays and he prefers a 1BR...plus he LOVES the location of BWV/BCV. But I'd likely veto his vote.

Given the choice I'm not moving so that eliminates the split stay. I'm generally going for a 1 BR if possible but in this case I opted for the 6 nights at BLT in a studio because you're going to MK one day, spouse hasn't stayed, it's only 2 people and it's only 6 nights. I'll further assume you won't do much cooking for this trip. I'd likely wait list the BLT standard view 1 BR if you can swing the points but it's unlikely to come available.

We would do a split stay. If I read correct, you are going to be there 6 days with 3 days of tickets. Moving always makes us feel like we are on a different vacation. I pack for the first half in separate suitcases.
I would do a park day on the day of the move so we can return to the new resort. We often stay BWV standard 1 bedroom and love it for the points and location. However, we do spend a lot of time in the room and love when he stay in a room with a good view. We literally have changed plans to stay in our room at AKV when we get savanna view and the animals are hanging around.

A one bedroom anywhere for at least six nights. I love the space and the wash machine. Also the BL studio is very small. My husbsnd stayed in one for two nights by himself and couldn't stand it.

And for the move day, I wouldn't do a park (since one day will be E/MK and the other will be all MK you'll want to walk or monorail from there and not bus from AKV). I would stay in room until latest moment for check out (what is it...11am?). Then drop luggage off at bell services to move to BLT. Take bus to Downtown Disney for lunch and shopping and maybe a movie. Then go to BLT when room is ready or go to one of the other monorail resorts to look around or shop and when room is ready you can monorail over to BLT. I'd book Ohana or Cali Grill for dinner that night.

Jambo/BLT was my first choice but Jambo is closed for refurb when we are there :(

It worries me that BLT studios get mixed reviews - some people find them too small, others like them. 6 nights seem like a long time if we feel like we are in a small space.

This sounds like us; I like the two resorts and park plan as you state, but DH would prefer to stay put. But he also would like to try someplace new.
And I really like your plan for moving day!
We have been many times, but this is our first time truly by ourselves. I'm hoping the split stay might make it feel like 2 different vacations, even though I know staying in one place is so much more relaxing. ...I'm not too much of a 'relaxer'; DH is. :)

DW and I would choose the split stay. We really like the AKV-Jambo for stays (have two scheduled for next year) and it is nice to be near EPCOT for walking.

Our option is only Kidani because Jambo is under renovation during our vacation time. Would you still do split stay in Kidani savanna view studio?

I'll chime in. I prefer Kidani over Jambo, but I know that's rare. I did like that Jambo has more to offer with the dining venues (and the CS place) and the lobby is more spectacular...but our 1BR at Jambo was right over the lobby and when in the living room area it was noisy. Also the 1BR/2BR kitchen area is laid out differently than at Kidani (and I prefer the Kidani layout) but you are looking at a studio. My SIL swears by not wasting points on savannah view. She is fine with sitting at one of the many public areas to watch the animals. But I just loved watching the animals from my own balcony with cup of coffee or glass of wine in hand (and in my PJs). I think savannah view is a must.

BLT studios are small but my DH and I were fine in one for 3 nights and I would do that again, even for a week. I like the layout with the kitchen (only studios with a kitchen like that). If you have ever been on a cruise it is similar to a cruise ship cabin but even a tad bigger. I wouldn't want a BLT studio for more than 2 though (unless maybe really little kids). We requested 'near the skyway bridge' and got the very first room off the bridge (lake view). While that was great for bopping over to CR/monorail, it was VERY noisy. Next time I will request inside the C or get standard or theme park view. It was great to walk to and from MK.

A 1BR would be nice to have. My DH likes to pack very light and just wash his stuff so he likes having the washer/dryer but can do without. We are doing 4 nights for F&W and all I could afford, points wise, was a studio (and my twin DDs-17 will be with us). We will be at BWV, which is fantastic for location (especially for F&W).

If your DH wants to try something new, and that is always nice to do, maybe go with the split (if you can convince him) or do all AKV or all BLT. Have you considered a 1BR at VWL? Then you could boat to TTC (I think that's where it goes).

I voted for the split. We really enjoy having the animals off our balcony....and AKV has nice balconies too. It will be a good location for your AK/DHS day. We normally stay at Jambo but I've done a Kidani studio and would again. Sanaa is a great restaurant and right there and it's not that far over to Jambo for other dining (although IMO they should have done a QS at Kidani although they do phage some food out at the pool.

And the BLT studios have grown on me more and more since they fixed the sink situation. You can't beat the locatin for MK access.

I don't love the move of a split but we do still often do them. The suggestion of DS is good otherwise we normally do a park and by the time we're ready for a break we head to our new resort.

It's a good chance for your DH to experience the resorts and know if you'd like to stay at them longer.
