Which will go on sale first?

(Mods, my apologies if this is in the wrong forum)

My wife and I just bought 168 points (don't ask) at AKV a few weeks ago with the understanding that we would immediately purchase add-ons at BLT and/or VGC.

My question is this: Which do you think will go on sale first? I have the feeling the BLT will go on sale over the summer or early fall, with VGC hitting the streets late fall or early '09.

What do you folks think?

I don't know the answer to your question. But I saw the 168 points for sale on the Timeshare store website a while back, and I thought that was such a random amount of points! I thought you had to buy 160 to start, then incremements of 25 after that. So I was wondering how did they come up with 168:confused3

The 160 is the min, you can purchase any amount over that on your initial purchase.

I'm thinking VGC will be first.

From my understanding, you have to buy a minimum of 25 for a cash purchase add-on, a 50 point for a loan based add-on, and 160 for a new purchase. Beyond those minimums you can buy whatever number you want.

So for example, you could buy:

32 with cash add-on
72 with a loan add-on
168 with a new contract

:)

(Edit) - I may be wrong about the 25 and 50 add-ons, though.

We choose 168 because it gave us a Saturday night through Thursday night (6 nights) at AKV SV in October (when we normally go).

Thanks for that. I didn't know that! I could have tried to finagle my husband into getting more points! I thought we had to get 160 upfront and then only increments of 25 after that.

BLT = July
GCV = October

This is what has been hinted at by many guides. We really have nothing else to go on.

Based strictly on a gut feeling, and a really big building, and SSR selling out, I say BLT and soon.

I too believe this is pretty close to the mark. Just from "Hints" we have received. HOWEVER...would not surprise me if guide was pulling our leg, just a tad :thumbsup2
We will be there from 6/28-7/5 so VERY curious if something happens while we are there:)

I am sorry, but I cannot believe the guides do not know anything!
Why?

Disney has a carefully planned and thought out communication strategy for DVC. So far, that plan includes releasing no information about the building at the Contemporary. No executives have said anything. No press releases. Nothing has been said to investors. All we have is some public filings that have to be made and couldn't be avoided. Beyond that - nothing.

So why on earth would we believe that Disney shared this secret information with hundreds of time-share salesmen who are low level peons in the corporate chain?

The guides have absolutely no need to know the details. It doesn't do them any good, and could cause a lot of harm. Every guide who has posted to the DIS has said they get no secret information. Many guides are saying flat out they don't know. The ones that are indicating they know something are doing it through hints and wink-winks - not a single one has come through with a credible story as to when and how they obtained this secret info.

Which isn't to say the guides know nothing. They (at least the on the ball ones) know what we know. They've read the newspaper articles on the public filings. They see the building going up. They can put facts together and reach the reasonable concussions. But they haven't gone to meetings or been given memos with secret info we don't have.

florida has some strict laws concerning sales people.

disney follows the law restrictly.

so they make sure their guides know nothing. even to having them avoid the TV when the channel got ahold of the stuff that was here.

isn't GCV (the building) more along than BLT? I mean heck they are only doing 50 units. I though it was for sales in Ca already?

so would say GCV - but yea the annoucement for BLT should be in July - so maybe sales will began then.

Now that the model rooms are open at DLR of the GCV, and that pics are on the net of the interiors, I am thinking they will go on sale next.

I have no crystal ball, and could be totally wrong - but I personally think BLT will "debut" before VGC - first because BLT is much farther along in construction, second because even though there are models built for VCG, they've been shuttered til later this summer or early fall. It's entirely possible that models for BLT are ready somewhere and could be unveiled as needed once the go ahead is given...

50 units are designated for DVC, but they are part of a larger building - I can't remember - but I think they said there would also be 200 hotel rooms.

I was at the Grand Californian last week . . . they are not selling yet - they don't have enough of the construction completed. Internet says the units will be completed in late 2009; you can also find pictures of the construction.

I have no idea, but I'm glad to find someone else who reckoned 168 points is the optimal AKV ownership :)
