Hi,
Right now we are booked over Thanksgiving (11/21-11/27- may add on 11/28). We currently have a reservation at WL, but are thinking of switching because of the proposed construction. But, as I was making dining reservations & other planning, I realized that MVMCP won't be going on during our stay and we would have to add an extra night on to the end of the trip to see the Candlelight processional.

Playing around w/ dates and ds's school schedule, I see where we can go in December and he would only have to miss 2 1/2 days of school (like he would with the Thanksgiving trip).
The dates would be: 12/15 -12/21. We want to be home for Christmas Eve & Day. It looks like the Dec trip would probably be a little less expensive as well - esp if a r/o discount comes out & right now every resort that we'd be interested in does still have free dining available (would much rather r/o but will be happy w/ fd :) )

Would love to hear your thoughts to help us make a decision :)
Thanks!!

I've never been during Thanksgiving, but I have been twice during actual Xmas week. You might have slightly lower crowds over Thanksgiving as compared to mid December. (A Thanksgiving Veteran may contradict me.) But, if you are planning on MVMCP and CP, I would choose the later dates. Nothing beats DW during the Holidays!

I would prefer the December dates. I like cooler weather and November is typically a bit warmer. PLUS.. It would be a truly festive trip just before Christmas!!! I actually think that the crowds may be lower in December. (However, that is a bit later than I usually go in Dec, I am usually there in the first two weeks, so I could be wrong). November over Thanksgiving can be quite busy! We are going over Thanksgiving this year, but it is because that is when my kids and grand kids can go.

October as it is less crowded and not on the week where the kids are out of school. Heard we went down one week before the kids did. As it would had been chaos.

I would definitely chose the Dec dates. As long as you are not there over the xmas holiday you should be good. We've been the week leading up to Thanksgiving and left WDW on Thanksgiving and it was crowded as it grew closer to the holiday (thanksgiving). I agree with PP that it would really add to the excitement of the holiday (Christmas) being there mid December. I have stayed at WL in the summer and would LOVE to stay there in December. Enjoy.

My son is entering 3rd grade, so we're trying to go around the school holidays so he doesn't have to miss much time- that's why we chose Thanksgiving. Then looking at the school schedule - they get a pretty long Christmas break- and realized we could go right before Christmas and miss the same amt of time. We've only been to WDW once - Nov 2013 & he was just in 1st grade so it wasn't a big deal to miss a little more time.

I swear I must be The. Most. Indecisive> person in the world....between trying to finalize dates and then the resort....:dance3:

Thanks so much for your opinions- I think you may be right, that Dec may be the better choice!:goodvibes

Thanks so much for this! :goodvibes I'm starting to think Dec is probably the better choice; as long as I'm home in time for to prep for Christmas eve and day. Thanks again!

Decisions, Decisions.....:scratchin Thanks for your thoughts! I never imagined making these decisions would be this difficult lol. The only thing I know for sure, is that if we do go in Dec., I want to be home a few days before Christmas day. Thanks, again!

And as long as you leave WDW by 12/22 or 12/23 I think crowd-wise you'll be fine. Planning is half the fun. :)

We were on a cruise once and flew home on Christmas Eve. That was a bit too close!!! I think that going home on the 21st or 22nd you should be fine!

I would choose the December dates, oh wait, I did! We're going to be there 12/14-12/21 and the crowd levels look to pretty low until the weekend.

The travel agent we used also suggested that week as we were debating other time frames including the week you have. We have FD as that will be better than a room only for us, though we're only projecting what a ro would be.

For any of you who are travelling or who have travelled in December- are you worried about the possibility of bad weather issues? What happens if your flights are messed up / delayed because of weather? We did purchase the trip insurance through Disney. We live in northeast PA and there's a definite possibility of snow at that time- well, actually at either of my dates really....

I prefer the November dates. We went at that time and didn't find the crowds to be too bad and the bonus was that we even had a few days warm enough to swim. December may be too chilly for me but I know some people swim in Jan. And Feb too:cold: When we went all the Christmas decorations were up and we even got to see MVMCP. We are from NEPA and don't like to chance the weather either. Hate flying as it is definitely don't want to do it in a snow storm. Either way you will have an amazing time. Good luck with your decision.

The weather is what's really giving me much pause. It's great to hear about the swimming possibility! I know there's probably no way I'd be able to keep my ds away from the pools.... Maybe I should keep the Thanksgiving dates and try to play w/ the dates there to see if we can get to do MVMCP- if not I guess there's always next year! :goodvibes

I would 100% say the december dates. flights would be cheaper so you would save alot there rather then flying over the holiday. My family and I went over thanksgiving and it was very very crowded. Weve also been there in december and we would choose dec everytime. lower crowds until maybe your last day or two but you will be able to enjoy all of the christmas decorations and festivities without being overwhelmed by crowds. Also the weather is usually between 70 and 80 for both dates. youll definitely need sweatshirts at night it does get cold.

it would say December (we have gone December twice and are going back this year). It's so much closer to christmas that it feels like such a great build up for the holiday. I think it would be great for your ds to go in December. I'm sure he would feel the build up to christmas even more than we do.

Thanks so much for this! I keep waffling back & forth- my dh really thinks, like you, that Dec would be best. I'm thinking maybe your right! :) Thanks again!!
