Which week would you pick to go?

Yes, genuinely COLD weather can be a factor in fall and winter months.

We were there the week following New Year's Day once, and Orlando logged 3 record lows with a skitter of snow on the ground at MCO one night for the first time in 30 years. Highs mid-40s all but one day of our stay. Miserable!

We've had 2-3 November stays that were similarly cold but minus snow, thankfully.

But, go figger. Our Christmas week trip saw record high temps--upper 90s to low 100s. Even CMs were complaining aloud that the weather was NOT normal.

Maybe just our lousy luck? That's why I said FL weather can be tricky.

I would avoid staying out of school at that age. As a former student and current parent, it would stress me out.

Only negative to August is the obvious - HEAT.

I would so pick a December trip, winter is the best weather in Florida. I have found its busy no matter when you go now days... so dont do it in the heat if you dont have to.
I live in Florida..
Jun-Nov is hurricane season and humidity is up .. and so is scattered rain storms.
March is nice weather so that would be my second choice. Spring break can be diffrent for everyone.

So you don’t think the week before Christmas would be crazy? How about the weather in January? Most of my family is saying January but the week before Christmas would definitely be my first choice if I wasn’t scared of the crowds!

It kinda depends on where Christmas falls if its busy or not. We are AP holders so have been there in every month. Since covid there has not been a huge slow down. Just be prepared you will be fine.
We were at HS in January and there was a 4 hour wait for rotr... pre covid I would have said January or February. All school holidays are crazy busy anyways...

Edit Christmas day falls*
We were there a week before Christmas as it was perfect cause Christmas day fell on the follwing wendsday and schools were out that Friday before

Christmas Day is on a Sunday and if we went the week before, it would be Saturday 17th to Saturday the 24th.

I just checked for availability at POP for the 17-24 and surprised it is showing available… That’s a good indicator cause normally it would be sold out.
Are you checking availabilty and prices for the dates you are considering?
And don’t forget airfare!

Thank you. We drive, we’re from NC and it’s not too bad of a drive. And we will probably be staying off-site. We’re a family of 6 and that will save us thousands. Park tickets are higher in December by about $600-700 for all of us

As long as you can stand the Heat/Quick rain showers, #1 has worked for us in the past. The FL (and most others) schools are back already, so the crowd levels are low. It is usually a combination of Canadians/NJ (Jerseyites?) /Europe catching the last week before their schools go back.

Actually a good idea looking at value hotels it speaks a lot about availability.

And if I am looking for a quick source for travel seasons ..I check the DVCpoints for their seasonal Charts. I figure the cheapest points per nite must indicate another good time to plan travels.
DVC tracks the locals and everybody …11 months in advance !
