We are trying to plan a family vacation for this fall. We will be traveling with an 8yo, 5yo, and 18 month old. We will be staying off site. With the kids ages, we so not plan on attending a party, and do not mind to leave the park at 7 if we to on those days. We plan on spending 5 days in the parks

My two top options are:

October 2-7 --the kids are on fall break until the 10th, so will not need to miss any school

November 6-11 -- the kids are out of school for election the 7th & 8th so will miss 3 days of school

We do have 6 personal days we can write the kids out of school for, so we could technically go at any point. The week of Nov 13-18 looks to have low crowds predicted.

I would go for October, because I prefer when it's a bit warmer to have the option of swimming, I would rather see Halloween decorations than Christmas, and I would hope October would be a pretty reasonable time for crowds. We did swim in November, but it was kind of iffy, and by the end of the week we wouldn't have been able to. We were there the 2nd week of Nov 2014 and it was packed - much more crowded than when we've been in May in previous years. Friends went that week this past year and it sounded even worse crowd wise.

I would go with the 3rd option just bc it has lower crowds plus at that time u might also get some resorts themed for xmas so you could always resort hop a bit and look at the decorations!

I would go November 13-18 so I could celebrate my birthday. For you I guess it really depends on whether you would rather see Halloween or Christmas decorations and how much you think you might be using the pool.

We've never been at either time, so we would enjoy either decorations. We probably won't use the pool much if at all, vit planned on using our rest day to drive to a beach.

The third week will probably be the best crowd wise, and Christmas decorations are great. The Oct. week includes fall breaks for certain parts of the country, is around the Jewish holidays some schools have off for, and Columbus Day, which will make it a little busier. The early Nov. week is Jersey week, when schools here have off for a teacher's convention as well as some for Election Day and Veteran's Day, so many Jersey families take advantage of the week, as well as others from other states whose schools close for the other two. The 3rd week is considered a slower one, because it is between all that and Thanksgiving. Many of the Christmas decorations are up, including the icicle lights on the castle, which are amazing, and sometimes by the end of that week the giant gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian is completed, which you could hop on the monorail to go see during one of your MK days. I would vote for the 3rd week, and put the Oct. week as my 2nd choice.

Have never gone in October, but went this past year during the 13-19 of November and it was very crowded. We were very surprised that it was after reading all the opinions and websites online. It felt like summer- Animal Kingdom was projected to be a 3/4 and it was an 8/9, Epcot was swarmed with people (Mexico ride had about a solid 50 minutes wait), and MK was swamped as well. We were happy to get MVMCP tickets one night and we got a lot of rides in then.

Cassie58 just saved me a whole lot of typing. I agree with her thoughts exactly.

We always go to Orlando the beginning of October. The weather is still so warm plus the crowd level is low.

We are going the first week of October - October is crowded! The days of fall being slow are several years in the past. My husband actually got off the phone with a CM a few weeks ago and the CM said that week is already shaping up to be extremely busy.

Thanks for this info! It's looking like I may just keep the kids out of school for a week.

You're welcome! We are at the mercy of our school's Fall Break and my husband's work schedule or I would go in September or November in a heartbeat in comparison with October.
