I can't decide which one to go to. My 2.5 year old loves the shallow end of wave pools and fountains to splash in...My 5 year old likes small kid slides and loves the wave pool also...We would probably go for 1/2 day in the afternoon. so should I go to BB of TL
Thanks in advance

Hi Debbie

My family like BB - there are slides & tire ride all in children's area. Have fun!

I chose Typhoon Lagoon. My Passporter says it's the tamer of the two parks. It also says it's more lush and more shade. With two small children, that would be important to me. The lazy river is also "lazier" :rotfl2: BB lazy river has water falls you must avoid and such.

I would choose BB. It has more for your 5 year old to do. They have a toddler sections and a young child section. In this section there are a few things that your 2 year old will be able to do. There is also a great family raft ride at BB--it is a lot better than TL. ALso, at TL you tend to have to carry your mat or whatever more than you do at BB. Just my .02.

giving this a bump---I'm in exactly the same boat as you, same kids ages even. I was leaning towards Typhoon Lagoon, basically because it looks prettier to me (not a real reason I guess) but would like some opinions on the slides, etc. at the parks. Both DS's are not daredevils and neither can swim on their own.

Are their lifejackets you can rent/borrow at either park??

thanks

We like Blizzard Beach a lot better than Typhoon Lagoon. The Tikes Peak kiddie area is a lot of fun for the little kids. I liked it because my son could go on the smaller slides by himself and I could wait at the bottom for him. After he wanted to do this all day, I just got a beach chair and sat at the bottom with my feet in the water. It became quite relaxing for me and a lot of other moms too!!! My 2 year old loves the slides too, and the spraying water area. The family raft ride at BB is alot better than the one at TL. You have to carry the big raft yourself up some stairs at TL and that was too difficult to do with little ones.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. They both have areas that are great for both the 5 and 2 and a half year old. TL has more shaded areas and BB has more in Tykes Peak.

When we brought our grandneice at the age of 5 she preferred the Poly pool over either of the water parks. Kids dontcha love them. :rotfl2:

Both have kiddie areas and both are a lot of fun.

However having down both with preschoolers, I (everyone else in my party and family, inculding the kids) think BB is better for the 5 and under crowd.

Pikes peak is more protected, one way out, one way in. It has less "spash water in your face play" Many young kids, mine especailly don't like water right in their face. It has more slides that adults can accompany children on, the wave pool is milder (TL wave will knock over a tolder or even 5 year old, mine was pretty scared of it, but loved being held in the rolling waves of BB wave pool.)

TL has a few different kidie areas spread out, so you might have to slpit up, one go with the 5 year old, one with the younger child. It was harder to see from one end to the other at TL. BB was easier.

My kids also got a big kick out of the BB theme. They liked the mealting snow many and crazy alliagtor. Didn't get the whole "storm" them of TL.

If you have your (or someone elses) heart set on TL, you still will have a great time. It is fun and there are things for kids all ages.

In general BB is better for the younger crowd. We enjoy it more. A CM mentioned that before we went, and after going with kids we understood what they were talking about.

Thanks ! this is one of the best comparisons I have seen on the subject!

Well, my opinion is very one sided! We LOVE Blizzard Beach soooooo much that we have yet to make it to TL!!!! During our first visit my DS was just getting the swimming thing down and he had a blast!!! The toboggan race slide is awesome and no swimming required. The family teamboat springs raft ride is beyond awesome plus a great photo op at the end. :thumbsup2

The kids area is wonderful and his little tame water slides for the newbies.

Our visit to BB is always our favorite day of each WDW trip. :cheer2:

When we went to both last June, the lazy river at TL had inner tubes that had bottoms where DD could just sit in it. But at BB, they only had regular inner tubes. She couldn't hold herself up, and when we tried to put her in butt first so her feet would hang over, she fell through the hole in the center. When we asked if they had the type of inner tubes with bottoms, we were told no. (Many years ago, I remember that they did. I guess this has changed.) That's my only gripe about BB. We enjoyed both!

If you go to TL, beware of the times at the wave pool when the 'super waves' are created. Those larger waves are dangerous, especially for little ones! my very small 10 yr old daughter got rather bruised and scraped up when one of the larger waves caught her off balance.

I'd recommend BB - the Ski Patrol area is a lot of fun - the tube and body slides there are great for the kids, and there's a zero-entry section of a small pool to keep the 2 yr old busy for a bit. Then I'd head over to Tike's Peak for a while!

BB for sure, I have a 5 yr. old and she was not happy at TL...she was not tall enough to ride on the water slides, and the kiddy area was just too young for her(more accustomed to toddlers/babies). She loves BB, she can do everything in the Ski patrol area, as well as ride most of the slides ( with the exception of the 3 big ones), the wave pool at BB is much tamer than the waves at TL. Just my two cents!

Ok...here is a different opinion. For my 3 year old I think I preferred TL. The problem I had at BB was that the kiddie slides were difficult for one person to help your child with. There was no easy way to be there at the top to send them down and then be there at the bottom to catch them...really needed to two people, the physical distance was too far. My DH was off with the older kids so being comfortable with having her alone was important to me. On the flip side at TL it was much easier (shorter distance, longer slide) to send her down the small kiddie slide and then walk to the bottom and catch her. There were not as many kiddie slides at TL if I remember correctly but it was a better sldie ride at TL. I totally agree that the family raft ride at TL was way lame compared to the family raft ride at BB.
