Hi! We were planning a trip to either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach for Mother's Day weekend. We've been to Blizzard Beach and are pretty familiar with the kids' area there, but it's been a while since we've been to Typhoon Lagoon (certainly before kids!) and with the new ride going in there, we were wondering if we should switch.

1) Will the new ride be open for Mother's Day weekend?
2) Which kid's area (in your opinion) is the best and why?

Thanks!! :wave2:

I believe the new slide opened on March break.

My favorite kids area is the BB one. I also much prefer the family raft ride at BB.

just to give you the opposite answer we love TL, the wave pool is much better, and there is a really nice area for kids, my problem with the kids area at BL, and that you can easily loose your kid, you basically need a parent to go with the kids where they go on the slides, and one waiting at the bottom.
We also prefer the theming of TL....
If I want snow I see enough of the "real" stuff at home...

It depends on your kids age. BB is better for very young kids (tolder, to 4 yeras old) Also it has more for kids that isn't as "splashy" and in your face. The kids can be closed in better. The wave pool is not as intense and therefore younger kids can use more. They have a slide that parents can take the kids down too (TL does not.)

For a little bit older and more adventerous TL is good. It is fun and there is a lot for them, but much of it does invlove water in your face (something my DD isn't too fond off)

We went to both when she was 2 1/2. She liked them both, but had more fun at BB. BB is a bit better for younger kids, but if you want to go to TL, do so, you can't go wrong.

TL hands down! the new water coaster is open and it's fun! shark reef is the best and the wave pool is way better than BB!

Thanks DisneyPhD!
Your in-depth reply really helped. I have a DD2 (just turned two) and a DS8 that is just getting used to the idea of being in a pool. It sounds like BB will be the best for us. That's why I think it is great that Disney has two waterparks!

I really appreciate your responses-since we'll have 5 kids 6 and younger, we'll head to Blizzard Beach! This really helped! :sunny:

You are welcome, so glad I could help. We had no idea before we took DD for the 1st time. We had been before we have kids, but the kid section in both is out of the way so you never see it unless you need it. Really the times we went to BB were the best of the whole trip. DD has so much fun on the slides and both of your kids can play in the same area (but your oldest will be able to go on the family raft ride with dad or someone if he is feeling brave.)

Bring water shoes, there is a lot of walking. Bring your own snacks too, but you can buy stuff there. There even is some chairs up near those slides so you can sit there and wacth the kids really easily.

Have a great time. We aren't planning to go this trip (tomarrow) since we are going to Vero Beach too. It isn't in our tickets (AP) but since it is going to be so hot we might just end up over there. Now if I can just get packed.
