Which wand chose YOU?!

I know some pictures of Ollivander's wands have been posted in other threads, but it would be nice to see them all in once place!!

If you've been to WWoHP, which wand chose you and what was it made of?! Pictures are even better! Apparently there are 13 wands exclusive to Ollivander's but I've only seen pictures of two or three so far.

This is the one that chose hubby. I'd love to know more about it if anyone knows. The shopkeeper said it has a phoenix tailfeather core and I think he said it was made of elder...it says elder on the box too and it is topped with a skull head. If anyone knows anything about it I'd love more info. as I am only marginally familiar with the HP books. Don't you love the dust on the Ollivander's box?

Very nice!! When is his birthday? Apparently that's how the wands are chosen, based on celtic folklore and the wood type.

So are all the exclusive wands "dusty" or is it just the ones that choose you in the wand experience? In other words, if you just walk in and purchase one, is that what it will look like as well? If so, I think its brilliant....can't wait to see more.

He was born in June but I don't recall if he was asked his birthday. It looks like elder is actually December if you're going that route. The shopkeeper did some measurements and talked about various personality traits. I wish I would have had a video camera but of course I didn't.

Hmmm...that doesn't work out with the birthday thing then. Somebody on Orlando United's worked perfectly with their birthday, and I've definitely seen video of them asking. Maybe sometimes they do and sometimes they don't?

That's my guess too. I've seen the show several times as I wanted to see all the different effects and I've heard them ask the birthday of some and just generally banter with others. They definitely chose well for hubby...he just loves it, even tho' it's kind of evil looking with that skull. Good protection from dark forces!

Ink, I think you mentioned in another thread that these Olivander's wands were in fact made of resin and not the rumored wood (because it broke)

Can the rest of you confirm all the wands are resin? Here's how you tell, wood is actually pretty light weight and when you tap it with a pen or something else will sound like wood. Resin will feel heavier, will have more intricate details because it's poured into a mold, and will break if you drop or bang it around, but if tapped with a pen will sound like plastic.

It's also possible they are half and half, but that would have been really expensive to manufacture.

Yes, they are available in the Owl Post next to Olivanders, although I expect a major queue from what reports have said! Since that's where everyone from Olivanders is shuffled through to. Reports have said that the Ollivanders wands are around the $26 mark (for their own brand of wand, meant to be wood).
The replicas of Harry etc. are the Noble collection ones you can even buy online, I believe they are not wood, and are around the $35 mark.

Isn't that the Voldemort wand only a little darker? I'm sure Voldemort's wand has a skull at the end..?!

LOL! You beat me to it. I also thought it was Voldemort's wand. One of you HP freaks please correct me if I am wrong but I believe there are only TWO wands made with a Phoenix tail feather. Harry has one and "you know who" has the other???

Nope, it's that the phoenix (Dumbledore's Phoenix, Fawkes) whose tail feathers were used for Harry and Voldemort's wands only produced those two feathers -- there are other phoenixes whose feathers are in other wands.

No, I think it's that only two wands were made from the tail feathers of that particular Phoenix - Fawkes, belonging to Dumbledore.

I'm sure the phoenix tail feathers in the other wands were provided by a different phoenix.
