Hi! Will will be going to Disney world in October for the third time. The last 2 trips we stayed at the contemporary but this time we wanted to be closer to Epoch. Since the other Epcot hotels were more pricey, we went with the Caribbean. I have read many travel reviews and personal posts and I am happy with our choice but am wondering which village is the best? I am hoping I can put in a special request for a village. I read that Trinidad south (?) is far way from the main part of the hotel ( food, etc) thus has gotten some negative reviews on the net. I would like to be more centrally located to the bar, food court, arcade. My husband really liked the contemporary for the following: walk outside our room and we were near the beach, food and arcade not that far of a walk, the monorail and ease of getting to the parks. The downside to the contemporary was that is a magic kingdom hotel. We like MK but with no kids, we prefer epcot, AK and pleasure island. I am hoping the at the Caribbean, I can get us a room near the beach and not a mile long walk to get to the part of the hotel. We like walking but after all the walking in the parks, it is nice to not go on a hike at the hotel. Thus wondering what village would be best for us. I would also LOVE to see some more photos of the CBR. We will rent a car this trip so can get to Universal and such.

Thanks!

You might want to take a look at the CBR FAQ thread listed below. Jamaica or Aruba is what most people ask for that don't want to pay extra for a preferred location.

I have plenty of photos of CBR on my website listed below. Welcome to the DIS.

My dw and I stayed there many times before we had children. the best village to get into is Martinique. It is closest to Old Port Royale and the theme pool as well as the BAR!!!! We never stayed at that one though. We have stayed in Jamaica and Aruba. I liked Jamaica the best. It was pretty close to Old Port Royale. Just a quick walk through Parrot Cay. The best part of Jamaica is the bus stops. Jamaica is the very first drop from coming back from the Parks. It is especially good when you are tired and sick of being on the bus. Jamaica is also very close (5 minute walk) to the first bus stop that they pick up to go to the parks. I forget the name of the village but once you figure it out it makes the whole bus situation much better

I have bunches of CBR photos in the links below.

Meanwhile, we've paid for preferred locations both times and have liked both Martinique and Trinidad North. However, like Safetymom said, both Jamaica and Aruba are good locations if you don't want to pay the extra for the preferred location.

There's a beach at every village, and a bus stop at every village, so you're never far from a beach or a bus stop. Oh, Jamaica's beach is enormous.

You'll love CBR!

We stayed there back in 2000. Very nice resort. We stayed in the village of Martinique. Martinigue and Trinidad North are closest to Old Port Royale. I would not have wanted to be further than either of those 2 from OPR. It's a very large resort. Quite a walk from some of the villages to the main area.

Martinique and Trinidad North have several buildings that are the preferred locations costing extra.

We stayed in Jamaica Building 41 in June, 2006 and in Martinique in June, 2007. I would prefer to stay in Jamaica.

Our building was one of the furthest from the promenade but it was still only a minute walk to the quiet pool/laundry room/beach, a three minute walk to the bus stop and about five minutes (depending on how quickly you walked) to the main pool/bar/hot tub/marina/Old Port Royale. When staying on the Jamaica side of the lake, you get to cross over the lake via a wooden bridge and pretty island. The walk is nice and pleasant.

I would suggest you ask for a room facing a courtyard too. No need to pay the extra money for a preferred location or a water view.

Stayed twice in Jamaica twice and really enjoyed it. Courtyard view was very nice.

Our personal favorite island is Aruba! Quick walk over bridge and island to OPR. Jamaica would be the next best. I personally wouldn't pay for a preferred location. It's just as quick from Aruba and Jamaica to OPR.

I loved being in Barbados (bldg. 16). It was very close to the Custom House, so we didn't need a bellman to help with our luggage. It also had two quiet pools very close (Barbados' and Martinique's) and was only about five minutes to the main pool/food court. To me it was a nice central location, not too far from anything. I would request that section again I enjoyed it so much. CBR is a great resort, have a wonderful stay!

We were in Aruba building 52 (I think). We loved it. Short little walk across the bridge to OPR. Check out pictures below.

Thanks for suggestions! I am very glad to hear that this is a good resort. Some reviews I read on other sites seemed like people had some issues. Never stayed at the CBR, only the contemporary, and this year, I sort of had to twist hubbys arm to go Disney world(he feels that since he has been there a whopping 2 times that he has seen it all). I, however, can never get enough.
