Which vehicle to rent for 8 people?

Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a Suburban? I've checked out some of the discounted websites however it just says "full-size SUV". Is there a way to book through these websites and request a certain vehicle? I'm thinking if I book thru one of the big name car rentals I'll pay big bucks!

Ford Expedition. Absolutely amazing with room for 8 if it has the 3rd row in it.

It's even more amazing when there's only 2 of you in it. Handles very well for a vehicle that size, and mileage (while crappy) is still pretty good.

All rental agencies carry different types of cars that vary in seating options so just check the vehicle info listed on the rental agencies websites and there should be vehicles that seat 8 (but not many!! usually minivans & large suvs). I am sorry I don't remember which rental agency it was (maybe alamo) but when I needed an 8 passenger minivan I found that they seperately list 7 & 8 passenger minivans for rent.

A couple tips because I am experiencing a similar situation right now for an October trip.

What I am leaning towards is getting a shuttle or taxi from aiport to offsite hotel for first night. Then we are renting a car from an off airport location (saves money) and then dropping off at aiport when we are leaving. Right now I am pricing out an SUV and 2 compacts. Depeneding on the rental place and promotions 2 compacts are way cheaper.

Plus again we are saving money by actually renting offsite for the SUV than at the airport. There are tons of aiport fees. mousesavers gives you good information on Rental Cars.

Plus it doesnt hurt to call the local rental car place and ask them for options. One place is giving me a free upgrade and free additional driver if we do the SUV.
